An Old Citizen Passes Away John W. Day died Saturday night November 19, at his home in Holden. He suffered a stroke of apoplexy in February of this year, and since then was in feeble health. The second stroke came on Wednesday previous to his death. The funeral was held in the Baptist church in Holden Monday, the 21st, conducted by Rev. L. J. Harris. Interment was made in the family lot in Smyrna cemetery, nine miles east of Holden. Deceased was born in Greene County, Tennessee, October 20, 1838. In 1865 he came to Missouri, which had since been his home. He was a farmer, and followed that avocation till a few years ago, when he gave up active work and moved to Holden to live. He was twice married, his first wife dying seventeen years ago. To this union were born six children, four of whom survive: Mrs. Mary Kirkpatrick, Mrs. Nettie Riddle, Frank and Joseph Day, all of this county. His wife, these four children and one sister, living in Tennessee, survive him. (Found in the Warrensburg, MO Journal-Democrat, dated December 2, 1910)
