LUNDY CEMETERY ELM, JOHNSON CO., MO Complete inventory taken May 1987 by Amy Silvey Blain and Toni Blain Rodgers (5001 Krueger Drive #2, Dickinson, TX 77539. E-mail TRodgers2@aol.com). *Additional entries (uncovered stones, possibly relocated graves, etc. since 1987) transcribed May 2000 by Marie Antal. An asterisk (*)will denote additional entries. This cemetery is located in the former city of Elm, located in Jackson Township, Section 31, Johnson County, Missouri. Directions: Leaving Kansas City go east on Highway 50. The town of Elm no longer exists; however, at the highway sign for "Elm Spring Church" turn south and continue driving until the next intersection is reached (no road names or numbers). Turn west and drive until the next intersection at which you can turn left. Approximately one mile on the left is a small dirt road (or path) leading up the hill to the Lundy Cemetery. It is not accessible by automobile; however, a four wheel vehicle may be able to do so. It is about one-quarter mile up the hill to the cemetery. The first person interred in the cemetery was Louisa Edwards in 1855. It was established before 1848 on a one and one-half acre tract by Ebenezer and Ruth Lundy who donated the land for the cemetery. It is a beautiful old cemetery, located on top of a small hill back in the woods and is well maintained. *This cemetery is now a little over grown and appears to have been vandalized. Several of the tops of the larger stones have been tipped over. These were so large that my husband and I were not strong enough to set them right on their bases again.
