CAMDEN
I am looking for information on the Camdens in Dent Co.  My g.great grandfather's name was Preston Camedn.  He was on the 1880 census for Clay Co.  There was also a Preston Camden, wife Roda on the Texas Co. census for the same year.  He was 54 and could have been the father of my Preston.  I haven't been able to find out anything about him and was told I might find some family in Dent Co.  Also I was told there is a Camden cemetery there. If anyone can help me please write back, I can't find them anywhere.

BETTY ROBERTSON   Sun, 6 Sep 1998 06:55:06 -0700 (PDT)

Looking for other researching cousins of the BRESSIE line from SALEM, MO., DENT COUNTY. DAVID BRESSIE b. March 27, 1821, NC and EPHRIAM BRESSIE (were EARLY SETTLERS of DENT COUNTY) were the brothers of JOHN BRESSIE who was my gggrandfather and I have been trying to find the marriage record for MILTON (or M.F.) FRAZIER BRESSIE b. Oct 1850 Farmington, MO in St. Francois and ADDIE BYRD. MILTON FRAZIER BRESSIE was the son of JOHN BRESSIE and RACHAEL MURPHY their family farm was located in Farmington, MO., St. Francios County, MO.

MILTON (M.F.) BRESSIE & ADDIE BYRD had one son JESSE BYRD BRESSIE, born September, 1880 or 1881 and they possiblity lived in Salem, DENT COUNTY near his BRESSIE cousins. MILTON'S second wife was JOSIE GRADY who died childless around 1887. He then married a third time in Iowa to a MARY GAY and they moved to Ponca City, OK.

Would appreciate all the help and/or information regarding the BRESSIE family and especially the marriage date and place of M.F. BRESSIE and ADDIE BYRD. On the marriage license to MARY GAY he signs M. F. BRESSIE and is listed the same way on his business stationary for the BRESSIE BROS., in Big Springs, TX. MILTON and his brother ROBERT MOORE BRESSIE(b. May 25, 1848) had this business before they moved north in 1896-97 to OK Territory. The BRESSIE COMMUNITY in Noble County, OK (which is just south of Ponca City, OK) was named for ROBERT MOORE BRESSIE who also donated land for the BRESSIE school. There is a re-union scheduled September 13, 1998, for the BRESSIE COMMUNITY OK. bring a covered dish, pop, etc. and join in the fun.

Appreciate any and all help. Would love to hear from others researching these lines. Always fun to find a new cousin.

They moved to Leadwood, MO in 1922.

The big MYSTERY  is that my grandmother Grace never knew she had a sister named Gertrude.  Gertrude just disappeared sometime between 1920 and 1922.  My grandmother Grace does not remember an older sister traveling to Leadwood on a covered wagon with the family in

FRANK, HEADRICK, HEDRICK, REDDICK, BLACKWELL, COPPEDGE, CAPPS - I am
working on a massive WALK family tree.  The FRANK portion of the tree intermarried very heavily with the HEADRICK/HEDRICK family in Davidson County, North Carolina.  Many of these families moved to Dent County, Missouri including:

ELIZABETH FRANK (1818-1897) married CASPER HEADRICK (1811-1870) in Davidson County, NC and moved to Dent County in c1856.  They had seven children.

MARY BARBARA FRANK (1828-1894) married DAVID HEADRICK (1826-1896) in
Davidson County, NC in 1847 and moved to Dent County in c1857.  They had eight children.

BENJAMIN H. FRANK (1831-1912) married AMANDA E. MOSER and then SARAH
REDWINE and had seven children.

JOHN M. FRANK (1834-1885) married LAVINA HEDRICK (1838-1897) in 1859 at
Davidson Co., NC and moved to Dent Co., in c1869.  They had four children.

JOHN A. FRANK (1816-1890) married BARBARA BURKHART (1810-1899) in 1836
at Davidson Co., NC and moved to Dent Co., MO in c1856.  They had nine children.

These above families married into the BUTLER, REDDICK, JAMISON,
BLACKWELL, POINDEXTER, CAPPS, COPPEDGE, PUTNAM, WATKINS, JOHNSON and many others; most in the Anutt, Dent Co., MO area.

Mr. JOHN W. HEADRICK of Granite City, Illinois (no e-mail) recently published a book on the HEADRICK/HEDRICK family of Dent County.  I am seeking to extend it as part of my WALK/FRANK family tree.  I look forward to exchanging information with any of you interested in the above surnames.  [email protected]

Dec 25 1805,KY married Nancy BARNES April 18, 1842 in Pulaski Co. and had 12 children (James Bucannon, Barthina (Thena),William H., John, Ed, Frank M., Viola Ellen, Johnathon, Jane, Lettis, Lem, Mary E.,. Mike owned land on was called Buck Creek, The 1860 Census shows what I believe to be this family in Somerset, only difference is a female (wife?) Lavina, also in same household is a Susanna MOUNCE 81 b. NC, Some info shows that Mike's
father may have been a William MOUNCE. Mike moved to Dent Co. MO prior to 1885 as he married a Sarah Lampkin of Dent Co. and had 4 children of which one was my Grandfather Berton Allen MOUNCE b.1889. Most of the children came to Dent with him and lied there remaining years there. Mikchel died in Dent Aug.14,1910 at the age of 105. I have been working on this for 15 years but do to such an age research has not been very fruitful.

Carl Barger   Mon, 6 Apr 1998 22:21:14 -0500

Hello: My name is Carl Barger.  I am superintendent of the Warren Public Schools, Warren, Arkansas.  For the past year I have been researching my BARGER ancestors.  My great great grandfather, Allen BARGER was born in Tn. ABT 1801, where, I don't know.  He married Nancy Bullock somewhere between 1830-35 in Tn.  Where, I don't know.  In the 1840 Ripley Co. Mo. Census I find Allen and Nancy living in Ripley Co. Mo.  They have two children:  Henry
BARGER, born in Tn. in 1835 and Sarah Jane BARGER, born in Tn. in 1837.  In the 1850 Reynolds Co. Mo. I find Allen and Nancy living in Reynolds Co.  They now have other children:  William T. Barger, born in 1840; James A. Barger, born in 1842(James A. Barger is my great grandfather) Jesse A. Barger, born in 1844; Mary A. Barger, born in 1846; George W. Barger, born in 1848; Dolliah E. Barger, born in 1850 and John W. Barger, born in 1854.  In the 1860 Cooper Co. Mo. census, I find Nancy married to a Eliher B. White.  They have been married for less than one year.  All of the children are in the household except for Henry BARGER, Sarah Jane BARGER, and Mary A. BARGER.
I am trying to find out what happen to Allen, Henry, Sarah Jane and Mary A. Barger.  I have lots of data on the other children, but none on these three children.  I believe that Allen Barger and his family lived in Dent Co. Mo. between 1850 to 1860.  If anyone has any knowledge of Allen, Henry, Sarah Jane, and Mary A. Barger I would appreciate it if they would contact me.  I believe that Allen may have died in Dent Co. Mo.  Henry, Sarah Jane and Mary A. Barger may have married in Dent Co.  or they may have died in Dent Co.
Any information that anyone could share with me would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Carl Barger

She was born abt 1847, and the census of 1910 shows Bert as Albert L. JACKSON, 30 years younger than her. Nancy Jane shows up in 1920 census as living with a grandchild, so Bert must have died before then. She's buried in Dent Co. The Dent Co. cemetery book says Bert was a Civil War soldier and is buried in Texas County. But that's impossible, since he wasn't born until about 1870. Susan KITCHEN(s)BRADLEY (1815-1899) &amp; William Arthur BRADLEY Sr.(d 1852) are both listed in the roster of Weber Cemetery, along with son, William A. BRADLEY Jr. Obituary for Susan lists 8 children, 2 daughters, 6 sons; we know that James d Civil War; there was also John, George, Anthony, William &amp; one son yet unidentified. I am a descendant of daughter Nancy Jane BRADLEY FOUST MAJORS JACKSON. Family lore indicates that Wm. Sr. died in Nebraska, 1852 under circumstances that make the grave in Weber Cemetery almost miraculous. I have visited that cemetery and would like to know if others share my observation that his stone (?) and more recent wooden marker is rather unusual, especially in comparison with his wife's. That grave is a mystery. We know that Susan remarried 1864 to Jayhoda MARSH (in Phelps Co); her daughter, Margaret married his son James MARSH, and Susan divorced MARSH 1869. Also know that William Aruthur Bradley, Jr. was married twice and involved in the shooting death of Taylor GRISHAM, 1901, per county history books and the testimony of Kate HEAVIN. Surely, with five surviving Bradley sons, there are still some BRADLEYs around the area? Any information regarding the above would be greatly appreciated.

To whom it may concern: I have just begun to do my family history and this looks like a good place to start. I see one surname that belongs in my family history. That is the name of Crabtree. However there are many others that do not appear on your list. My Mothers maiden name is Morgan. Her Dad's name was John Thomas Morgan. His Das was William Greene Morgan and is buried at the Antioch Cemetary in Hartshorn. However, William Greene Morgan's Tombstone says William Henry Morgan. Don't know how that mistake was made. Other family surnames are: Barlet, Gale, Stark, Tindle, Boyd, Pursifull. There are others still, and most of the persons buried at the Antioch cemetary could be and should be related. I have a Cousin named Alida Holt that has been doing her family history for fourteen years. She lives in Success, Missouri with her husband James Raymond Holt. William Greene Morgan and his family moved into Missouri from Tennessee. He came with his Father Joel and his Mother Patsy 'Runnel' Morgan They brought Sarah bd 6-6-1826, Henry bd 2-26-1828, Ellender bd 12-4-1831, Mary J. bd 1-28- 1833, William Greene bd 6-22-1838, and John S. I am looking for more information about the Wallis and White families that moved to Missouri from Tenn in the early 1800's. I found their graves but would like to see if there is any other information about them or their ascendents. I am also looking for information on the Hebblethwaite family who appears to have lived primarily in the Texas County area. Jerry Hebblethwaite is as far back as I have found, and it appears that he immigrated from England.

I am seeking information about my great-grandparents who died in Dent County, Missouri, in about 1895-1898. My great-grandfather's last name was Norvell, his wife's last name was Ritter. I do not know their first names. One son, my grandfather, was Henry Clay Norvell, born November 6, 1893. Another son was named Eugene. They also had about 7 daughters. They may have come to Missouri from Oklahoma, around Tulsa. I believe that they are burried in Dent County.

I am interested in information on BUNKER, Henry Joseph (birth, marriage dates etc)who owned a farm at the turn off at hwy 72 (by the golf course where the gas station and motor court used to be, the farm was in behind there) and the road leading west out of Salem. Also his wife Sarah Ann (nee FISHER). They had a daughter Letta Mabel Bunker who married William Thomas SMITH 2/7/1898. William and Letta were my greatgrandparents. My grandfather Howard Smith(their son) has told me that there is a gravesite on the old Bunker farmsite. I have not been able to verify this because the property is no longer in the family, yet I believe my gggrandfather Bunker (and possibly other family) may be buried there. I am also desperately searching for information on CAPPS, Elmere E., born 11-30-1892 in Calloway, Mo. He is buried at Jadwin Cemetery. He was married to Anna Lou (nee PRUITT or PRUETT). Anna's father was Elisha Pruitt but I have no info on him nor his wife Mae (nee STEVISON?). Any help would be so greatly appreciated since I am several thousand miles away from my old home town (and miss it so very much)

I'm interested in information about JOHN WALKER PATRICK and wife, FRANCES A. COFFEY. According to my Grandmother, ADA JULIET DANIEL BROWN, one of their three daughters was named BUENA VISTA PATRICK (Named for Buena Vista Twnshp, Jasper Co.?). Another daughter CORILLA PATRICK, married WILLIAM BURR DANIEL in Dent Co. I think the third daughter's name was LIZETTE PATRICK. J. W. PATRICK went up the Missouri River to Montana in 1836, possibly for the American Fur Company. The daughters were left with their mother's people. Later, groown and married they also went to Montana. Any information verifying any of this would be appreciated, and I will share what documentation I have. Scotlamd Springs was mentioned as birthplace for one of the above forebears. <br>

I'm looking for relations of James ARNOLD and Elizabeth McGUIRE. James and his family came from Henry Co, TN between 1850 and1860. His first wife, Jane apparently died and he married Elizabeth (b.5/9/1842, d.1/20/1911) 2/17/1867 in Rolla. They settled near Lennox, and James died before 1870. I believe Elizabeth is somehow related to the BLACK family, and Billy BLACK, sheriff of Rolla, may have been an uncle. James' children from his first marriage were Mary (b.c.1834, married William Eaves), John (b.c.1837), Ann (b.c.1840, may have married James Eves in 1858), Martha Ilene b.5/7/1841, md William Jasper Wofford), Nancy J.W. (b.c. 1843, md James Andrew Wofford),Elmira (b.c.1846), Thomas (b.c.1848), and Sarah (b.c.1852).

Has anyone seen ELIZABETH ROARK? She was born in 1847 in TN, presumably in Claiborne County. Her parents were Jeremiah R. Roark and Elizabeth Fultz, who moved to Missouri about 1860. She married John B. RUTLEDGE on 2/1/1870 and lived for a time in Texas Co., MO. John B. Rutledge died 12/4/1889 in Dent Co. and is said to be buried there. Nothing is known about what became of Elizabeth Roark after John's death, however. Did she remain in Dent Co. with her children? One son, Thomas Rutledge, moved to Oregon Co. sometime before 1900, but we have found no mention of Elizabeth Roark Rutledge being there with him. Would someone be kind enough to look on the Dent Co. census for John Rutledge in 1880 and Elizabeth Rutledge in 1890 & 1900? Thank you for your help.
