The Genealogical Death Indexing System, GENDIS, is a database of statewide death records hosted by the Michigan Department of Community Health. Follow the link above to perform your own search. Currently, they list Michigan deaths from 1867-1897, though in May 2003, I couldn't find any St. Clair County deaths after 1885.
