Last
Will & Testament of Andrew Patterson
In
the name of God, amen. The twenty sixth day of October in the
year of our Lord Christ, one thousand seven hundred and eighty
six. I Andrew Patterson of Mount Washington in the County of Berkshire
within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts being aged and advanced
in years, but of sound mind and memory, thanks be given unto God,
calling to mind the mortality of my body and well knowing that
it is appointed for all men once to die. Do make and ordain this
my last will and testament.
(that
is) Imprimis, first of all I give and recommend my soul to the
hands of God that gave it hoping through the death, merrits and
sufferings of my redeemer Jesus Christ the righteous, to receive
free and full pardon of all my sins and to inherit everlasting
life- and my body I give unto the dust to be decently buried at
the discretion of my executor hereafter named nothing doubting
but at the general ressurection to receive the same by the mighty
power of God -
And
as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God
to bless me with, I give and bequeath and demise of the same in
way and manner as followeth.
Imprimis
- I will that all my debts ____ in right or convenience to any
manner of persons should well and truly paid and I ordain the
same to be paid in investment time after my decease by my executor
hereafter named.
Item
- I give unto Abigail my truly and well beloved wife, the one
half of the use of my homestead farm with the use of the house
and barn during the continuance of her widowhood or so long as
she shall continue my widow -
Item
- I give unto Abigail my said wife the whole of my house, _____,
furniture together with 2 milk cows and a horse.
Item
- I give unto my 2 beloved son's, Charles Patterson and Andrew
Patterson, the whole of my real estate in what place or places
the same may ______ the division of my wife's half included to
be equally divided between them.
Item
- I give and bequeath to my beloved daughters Johanna Hall, the
wife of Joseph Hall 6 pounds to be paid her out of my personal
estate.
Item
- I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter viz: Abigail Lord,
the wife of Daniel Lord and Huldy Harvey, the wife of Samuel Harvey
10 pounds each to be paid to them out of my personal estate.
Finally
I appoint and ordain my beloved wife Abigail and beloved son Charles
to be executors of this my last will and testament declaring this
and no other to be my last will and testament.
