Donated by Charlie Owens

My father, Charles Rudolph Owens (1900-1956), made about 1923 - dad was an accomplished musician, played violin, sax and clarinet. He had his own orchestra in the 1920s and 30s called the "Kentucky Cardinals." The band wore tuxedos with bright red dinner jackets, they played dances all over eastern Kentucky including many at UK in Lexington. He was also working with the L&N RR during this time and the band finally broke up in the late 1930s and dad settled down to his job with RR.
