Double Funeral
 
 

      Funeral service for Floyd Ball and J.J.  Hensley, who were shot to death near Molus was held Sunday afternoon at the Baptist church. Interment was in the Resthaven cemetery. 2,500 attended, the isles and along the walls were filled. Many had to stay outside. Sheriff Ball was 41, he was the son of Moses and Sally Ball. He is survived by his widow Mary "Harris" Ball. Three children, Harold, Ball, 20, Zelma Ball age 15, and Bily Ball age 7, his parents, three brothers, Dillard, Leslie,and Rosco Ball all of Harlan. One sister Mrs Mosie Hobbs of Concord Tenn.
     Deputy Sheriff  J.J. Hensley age 52, also killed is the son of Henry and Mary Ann Hensley. He was born on Yocum Creek. He was living in Dillon at the time of his marriage to Hanna Metcalf then he moved to Harlan. He was Deputy Sheriff for 13 years serving under J.H Blair, Hamp Howard, Jim Green, John Ward and with Mr. Ball til his death.
      He is survived by his widow, Hanna Metcalf Hensley, four brothers, Bird, Lloyd, Hamp, and Allen, one neice Mrs Ora Helton, who has lived with the Hensleys most of her life.
