224 Know all men by these presents, that I Martha D. Allen, being of sound and disposable mind this twenty fourth day of July AD 1850 do make, this my last will and testament. After the payment of my just debts, I give and bequeath to my granddaughter, Martha B. Leach, wife of Duncan Leach of Graves County, Ky the sum of two hundred dollars and to my granddaughter, Malissa Dickinson, daughter of Andrew J. Dickinson of the state of Illinois the sum of two hundred dollars and to my daughter, Araminta, wife of John Nourse, I give and bequeath my slave Adaline (now living with Mr. Mitchell K. Miller of Washington City, D.C. in trust and for the use of my granddaughter, Elizabeth G. Dickinson, daughter of Jacob T. Dickinson of Kentucky so long as the said Elizabeth shall live and remain with said Araminta Nourse and in case and when the said Elizabeth shall leave the aforesaid Araminta Nourse or shall die the said slave Adaline to belong absolutely to Araminta Nourse and in case the said Araminta shall die leaving Elizabeth the said slave Adaline to be the property of said Elizabeth. Furthermore, I give and bequeath to my aforesaid daughter Araminta Nourse, certain notes given by John Nourse to me at different times amounting to eight hundred dollars, to have and to hold ___ of her husband control. I also give and bequeath to my daughter, Julia Ann, wife of R. R. P. Allen, my slave Matilda until she is twenty five years of age at which time she shall be free. I give furthermore to my daughter, Julia Ann, wife of the aforesaid R. T. P. Allen, four hundred dollars of a note now held by me against R. T. P. Allen, husband of the aforesaid Julia Ann. And, I give and bequeath to my two granddaughters Elizabeth G. and Martha M. Dickinson, children of said Jacob T. Dickinson the sum of two hundred dollars cash. The residue and remainder of my property I give to be equally divided between my three children, Andrew Jackson Dickinson of the state of Illinois, Sophia C. Johnson, wife of Joel Johnson the state of Kentucky and Manerva M. Green, wife of ____Green of the state of Illinois. And, it is my further will that the above mentioned slave shall be removed from Washington City, D.C without her consent. And, I do further more give and bequeath to my son Jacob T. Dickinson of the state of Kentucky all the unsettled accounts or claims of all kind that I am unbilled to as coming from the estate of my deceased husband, Ebenezer N. Allen, Sr. of the state of Maryland. And, I desire that my son Jacob T. Dickinson shall be my sole executor of this my las will and testament.
