About The Campbell County Historical Society

The Campbell County Historical and Genealogical society is a non-profit organization formed in 1990 and dedicated to preserve, protect and promote history and genealogy in Campbell County, Kentucky. Meetings are held the second Thursday of the month, starting at 7 pm, and include a featured speaker on a topic of local interest. Visitors are always welcome!

Local members receive a phone call about the topic and location before that month's meeting. We have recently begun notifying members via email and if you would like to be removed from our "Meeting Reminder Call List" and receive an email instead, just let us know by using the contact button on the left.

We also maintain a research office on the second floor of the historic Alexandria Courthouse. A few of our ongoing projects are:

  • history and genealogy research

  • local cemetery research

  • Campbell County log cabin research

  • compiling information on Campbell County Military Veterans

  • writing and reprinting of local history books

  • oral histories

Visit our research office to see:

  • The Speers Memorial Medical Museum

  • The Paul and Betty Kirst Camera Collection

  • County Schoolteacher Class Record Books

  • Local Photo Collection

  • Family History Research

  • School Yearbook Collection

  • The William J. Baker Collection

  • Beverly Hills Fire Collection

  • and much more...

Visitors and Guests are always welcome - but please call first to confirm we are open as the office is manned by unpaid volunteers.

All members receive our quarterly newsletter "Campbell County History News", which was awarded third place in the 1998 Family Tree Newsletter Contest. The certificate states "This publication has been judged to represent the finest achievement in journalism and communication." You can see some articles from the newsletter in our Archives section.

Readers are encouraged to submit genealogical queries to the newsletter, as well as articles about Campbell County people, places or events.
