  21. EFSS. A mailing list for serious researchers of Early Families in Southern States during the colonial period to share and exchange records, documentation, and other research regarding families who settled in southern states, especially in the Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina regions, in the 1600s and 1700s (prior to the Revolution). This will be a list based upon solid scholarship and archival research. It is intentionally broader than a surname or county list as we hope to discuss links between geographic areas and clusters of migrating families.   31. LONGHUNTERS. A mailing list for the discussion and sharing of information regarding the longhunters, indian traders, and the "overhill" men within and west of the Appalachian Mountains.   33. MCF-ROOTS. A mailing list (Maryland Catholics on the Frontier) for the discussion of descendants of Maryland Catholics who migrated first to Kentucky and then to other parts of the frontier. This was a planned migration and the first group left Maryland in 1785 with others following for the next 10 years or so. Many of the surnames are so intertwined that it is impossible to separate them and the families can be researched as one great big family, especially in Maryland and Kentucky.   41. OLDWEST-COWBOYS-INDIANSCOUTS. A mailing list for anyone with a genealogical interest in the Old West, cowboys, indian scouts and anything pertaining to them.   42. OREGON-TRAIL. A mailing list for those who want to research their family history concerning anything to do with the Oregon Trail. The history of the trail is an appropriate topic for discussion as well as postings of wagon train lists, and anything else genealogical including stories of life as a pioneer, diaries, queries, books, etc. - these are all welcome! Western states involved would mostly be Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington; maybe even California, Utah and others. Time periods include around 1840-1900.   43. Overland-Trails. Devoted to discussions concerning the history, preservation, and promotion of the Oregon, California, Sante Fe, and other historic trails in the Western USA. This list is sponsored by the Oregon-California Trails Association (OCTA) which is dedicated to the preservation, education and appreciation of the 19th Century emigrant trails. OCTA has conducted a comprehensive survey of emigrant documents (e.g., letters, diaries, journals) and compiled the names found in these documents in a database that can be searched for individual names (by SOUNDEX). Searches can not be done on-line and there is a fee for the service. Information on the database is automatically sent to new subscribers to the list. A moderated mailing list for the sharing of genealogical data about slaves in the Unites States including wills/deeds that show sales and transfer of ownership, vital records (e.g., birth, marriage, death), and information/queries on specific slaves that may be part of your ancestry. Anyone with genealogical data on slaves is welcome to post this information and thereby share it with all of the list subscribers.   77. WDC-GenWeb. A read-only mailing list for those interested in the World Descendant Charts (WDC) Genealogy Web Project. The WDC specializes in Virginia and West Virginia families and posts descendant charts received from contributors on the WDC GenWeb Project Home Page. When a new chart is posted, subscribers to the mailing list will be notified by the server. This notification will have the name of the descendant chart as the subject and will include the URL for the chart and a list of all surnames contained in the chart. Additional information on the list will be provided in the Welcome message you receive when you subscribe.
