Brief History Of Meath
Leinster province in eastern Ireland, the "Royal
County" of Ireland. West by northwest of Dublin,
with mystical ruins, and sea mists in the mornings. Winding roads, historical
castle, friendly villages and good Irish people.
"Meath
is one of Leinster's largest counties and home to some of the most important
archaeological sites in Europe. With rich and fertile land throughout
the Boyne Valley, stretching north as far as Cavan, Meath is a prosperous
farming county. The county is steeped in history, with settlers arriving
in Meath as far back as 8,000 BC.
County Meath
covers approximately 900 square miles, and is home to a little over
100,000 people. The land is primarily level, as part of the central
plain of Ireland. Extensive fertile farm lands abound near the two principal
rivers of the Blackwater and Boyne [ of historical fame ]. There are
some low rolling hills and many of the famous ruins are located in or
near these hills. Principal farming crops are grain, potatoes and cattle.

Navan
or An Uaimh [än OO'uv] , is the town , seat of Co. Meath, E Republic
of Ireland, at the confluence of the Boyne and Blackwater rivers. It
produces woolens and has sawmills. Clothing, furniture, and carpets
are also made. There are remains of the old town walls. Nearby are some
medieval ruins and the imposing Navan Mote. Population about 12,000.
