In 1802 Bishop Thomas Lewis O'Beirne gave instructions to his registrars to obtain from the clergy accurated written lists of their parishioners, and with particulars of the families. Some answered him immediately others took their time and it was compiled over several years. The quality of the returns varies immensley, and the surviving list now available actually cover fifty percent of the parishes at the given time. It was suggested that the Bishop was indeed preparing for a confirmation trip with his Diocese. The listing is a great help to those researching the Meath /Westmeath area as most of the Meath registry's records did perish in the 1922 Four Courts fire and of the 28 parishes, only four now have registers before 1800. So this is what makes up this list Parish of Agher ~ Children at Ardbraccan School 1813 ~ Parish of Ardagh ~ Meath Hill ~ Barley Hill ~ Parish of Castlerickard ~ Parish of Castletown -Kilpatrick ~ Parish of Clonard ~ Parish of Clongill ~ Parish of Drumcondra ( also known as Drumconrath) ~ Parish of Duleek ~ Parish of Enniskeen ~ Cabra ~ Cormy ~ Carrinshiga ~ Cortnubber ~ Cornakill ~ Drumcrin ~ Cordagh ~ Drumskerry ~ Kingscourt ~ Gallendboy ~ Lissaniskey ~ Lissnasasana ~ Merehill ~ Lissagown ~ Corgeny ~ Mullintra ~ Muff ~ Annagh~ Mullinacross ~ Dagan ~ Corroholman ~ Boydagh ~ Lisvaboe ~ Keenahan ~ Corrakeeran ~ Cornakarrow ~ Newcastle ~ Corducy ~ Carrickagallow ~ Carriglek ~ Parish of Julianstown ~ Kells United Parishes ~ Town of Kells ~ Parish Of Kentstown ~ Parish Of Kilmainhamwood ~ Parish Of Kilskyre ~ Parish Of Knockmark ~ Parish Of Laracor ~ Parish Of Moynalty ~ Parish Of Navan ~ United Parishes Of Newtown ~ Kilberg ~ Robertstown and Emlagh ~ Union of Painstown and Ardmulchan ~ Parish of Raddenstown ~ Parish of Rathcore ~ Parish of Rathkenny ~ Parish of Rathmoylan ~ Parish of Ratoath ~ Parish of Skyrne ~ Parish of Slane ~ Union of Syddan ~ Parish of Tara ~ Parish of Trim.
