WHO:  We are a genealogy society serving residents of Wells County in northeastern Indiana, as well as anyone else whose research interests lie in this county.  Our present membership numbers 80.

WHEN:  We meet six times a year, at 10:00 a.m. on the third Saturday of each of the odd months (January, March, May, July, September, and November).

WHERE:  Our meetings are held at the Wells County Historical Society Museum, 420 W. Market, Bluffton, Indiana.

HOW:  To become a member, please contact one of the officers or any member of the society for a membership application, or print and mail the application found here.  Dues are $15.00/year for an individual, or $20.00/year for a family, and are payable January 1 of the membership year.  With your membership, you will receive 6 issues (1 year) of our newsletter, The Wells County Tracer.  You will also be entitled to one free query printed in the newsletter.

Wells County Will Index: The Society has prepared an index to records from the Clerk's Office and the Recorder's Office of Wells County.  The earliest record indexed is from 1838 and the index contains the names of over 2500 testators. This is not an every name index. The price for this valuable information is $20.00 for members or $25.00 for non-members.  Prices include shipping. We still have a few of the books left and when they are gone there will be no more.


Poneto Journal newspaper: A CD-ROM for $6.00 (includes shipping).

WHAT ELSE: Genealogical research is available with fees starting at $25.00, payable in advance. Any additional research, such as another line, will be an additional fee. All monies will go to Wells County Genealogy Society. Print and mail the genealogy worksheet to initiate a genealogy search.
