Mrs. Rosa Mae Adams, age 85 of 204 Canal Street, Cedartown, Ga., passed away Friday morning, June 12, 1981 after an extended illness. Mrs. Adams was born August 27, 1895 in Polk County and was a member of the East View Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Mr. Joe Allen Adams, Cedartown; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence Barrett of Cedartown and Mrs. Joe Thomas of Rome; 17 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 13, 1981 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of The Gammage Funeral Home with the Rev. Reginal Campbell and the Rev. Jerry Buttram officiating. Interment followed in the Polk Memory Garden. Pallbearers were Joe Thomas, Jr., Sam Irwin, Jr., Ken Massey, Ben Carroll, Bill Ferguson and Bobby Ferguson. The Gammage Funeral Home of Cedartown was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Mary Frances Boyd, age 73, of 336 Stubbs Street, passed away Friday in a Rome hospital. She was born April 26, 1914 in Floyd County; member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Norman F. Boyd of Duluth, Ga.; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Smith of Cedartown; two brothers, G. W. King of Rome, Mather King of Gadsden, Ala.; three grandchildren; one great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday from the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with the Rev. Cecil W. Johnson officiating. Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Doyle Bright, Mike Bright, Marshall Thaxton, Noel Smith, George Smith, Sam Adams. Gammage Funeral Home of Cedartown was in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Ethel Wix Burell, age 78, Rockmart, Ga., passed away December 19,1983. She was born in Paulding County, July 27, 1905; member of the Fairview Baptist Church and a member of the Eastern Star. Survivors include one son, Mr. Owen Burell, Rockmart; three daughters, Mrs. Louise Sheppard, Mrs. Earline Lee, Miss Peggy Burell, all of Rockmart; five sisters, Mrs. Effie Robinson, Mrs. Elma Head, Mrs. Mattie Waldrop, Mrs. Wilma Hughes, all of Rockmart, Mrs. Ruby Kirkpatrick, Marietta; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 21, at 2 p.m. from the Fairview Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Davis, the Rev. Larry Ritch, the Rec. Charles Drummond officiating. Interment followed in Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Clifford Sheppard, Randy Smith, William Burell, Mark Broome, Lamar White, Clarence Robinson, Noble Robinson, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Eastern Star. Freeman Harris Funeral Home of Rockmart was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Carrie Chivers, of 326 E. Gibson Street passed away at the Polk General Hospital August 30, 1984, after an extended illness. Funeral services were held Sunday at 4:30 p.m. from the East View Baptist Church with the Rev. Hope Smith officiating. Interment followed in the South View Cemetery. Mrs. Chivers lived in Polk County most of her adult life and was a member of the East View Baptist Church. Survivors include; two daughters, Ms. Naomi Chivers and Mrs. Aurella Frazier; two sons, Walter and William Chivers; grandchildren and other relatives also survived. The Robert L. Parks Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Doris Collins, 68 of High Point, North Carolina passed away Saturday, August 1, 1987 in High Point. She was born November 11, 1918 in Coweta County, Georgia. Surviving are one daughter Mrs. Vesta Bradley of High Point; a son Hershel Fuller of Cummings; a half sister, Mrs. Janelle Walden of Newnan, and aunt Mrs. Vesta Green of Cedartown; an Uncle Rufus Dorsey of Cedartown; three grandchildren, two nieces and a nephew. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, August 4, at 2 p.m. n Chassell, Michigan. Interment followed in Chassell Memorial Gardens. Mr. Cecil Owens Dill, age 69, 100 Church Street, Englewood, FL., formerly of Cedartown, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 1987. Mr. Dill was born February 4, 1918 in Cedartown. Survivors include: mother, Mrs. Annie Dill, Englewood, FL., two sons, Cecil O. Dill, Jr., Galveston, Texas, Benny Dill, Piedmont AL., one daughter Mary Ann Roach, Silver Creek, GA., two sisters Mrs. Mary Englewood, FL., Mrs. Evelyn Wynne, Rome, GA. Funeral services were held Monday, December 28, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with the Rev. David Laughner officiating, Interment followed in the Etna Cemetery with full military rites. Members of the American Legion Post #86 served as pallbearers. Lester C. Mr. Dewey Seals Dill, 48, passed away Friday, morning, (Feb. 17, 1984) Mr. Dill was born September 20, 1935 in Cedartown. He was a member of the Etna Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Janice Finch Dill of Cedartown; mother, Mrs. Annie Dill of Cedartown; two sons, Keith Dill of Rome, Michael Dill of Cedartown, three daughters. Mrs. Rita Cook, Mrs. Vickie Hutcheson, both of Rome, Miss Shelia Dill of Atlanta; one brother Cecil Dill of El Paso, Texas; two sisters Mrs. Evelyn Wynne of Rome, Mrs Joe Engelman of Englewood, Florida; three grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with the Rev. Pank Adams officiating, interment followed in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens in Rome. Pallbearers were Bobby Thompson, Dewey Couch, Larry Cook, Steve Hutcheson, Lamar Fowler, Mike Boatwright, Bill Hudgins, Gregory Lovingood. The Lester C. Miss Judy Floyd, Graveside Services for Miss Judy Floyd will be at 2 p.m. Friday at East View Cemetery with the Rev. Amos Adams officiating. Miss. Floyd, 28 of 12 Leisure Drive died Wednesday morning at an Atlanta Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile wreck. She was born Sept. 15, 1960, in Floyd County, daughter of Melvin Floyd and Gerrye Brackett Floyd. She had been a lifelong resident of Floyd County and Coosa High School in 1978 and was a member of the marching band. She presently was a student at Floyd College and was employee by West End Florist. Survivors include her parents, Rome; Two brothers, Otis Lee Floyd, Rome, and Ronnie Floyd, Armuchee.

Mrs. Eunice Ella Gallimore, age 88, of Cedartown, passed away Monday, November 28, 1983 in Polk General Hospital. Mrs. Gallimore was born January 17, 1895 in Chattooga County, Ga. She was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters-in-laws, Mrs. Alice Allen of Cedartown and Mrs. Mozella Eubanks of Jasper, Ga.; seven grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, in the Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Wright officiating. Interment followed in the Shiloh Cemetery. The Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home of Cedartown was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lois Ester Gossett, age 54, of 525 Seventh Street, Cedartown, GA., passed away Sunday December 2, 1984 in a Rome hospital. Mrs. Gossett was born March 30, 1930 in Polk County. Survivors include her parents, Mr. And Mrs. Claude Gossett of Cedartown; two daughters, Mrs. John Cummings, Mrs. Major Sikes, both of Rome, Ga.; one brother, Mr. Ralph Gossett of LaGrange, Ga.; three grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, December 4th in the chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with the Rev. Elgin Williams, the Rev. Hormer Cantrell officiating. Interment followed in Polk Memory Gardens. Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Essie Smith Green, Rt. 6, Cedartown, Ga., passed away Sunday, December 2, 1984 in a Rome hospital. She was a member of the New Harmony Baptist Church; a graduate of Snead College, Boaz, Ala.; attended West Georgia College; a member of the Benedict Homemakers Club. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Katherine Easterwood of Cedartown, Mrs. Elizabeth Ulery of Canal Fulton, Ohio, Mrs. Ann Perryman of Dunwoody, GA.; two brothers, Mr. Bill Smith of Tecumseh, Ala., Mr. Frank Hudgins of Carrollton; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Haney, Mrs. Annie Dill, both of Cedartown, Mrs. Bonnie Wallace of Carrollton; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 4 in the New Harmony Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Drummond officiating. Interment followed in New Harmony Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bobby Baker, Johnathan Perryman, David Perryman, Craig Benson, Bobby Poole, David Smith and Victoria Vincent. The Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home of Cedartown was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Mary Ellen Hall, age 88, of Piedmont, Rt. 5 will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Piedmont Church of God with the Rev. Vann Carter and the Rev. Paul Conway officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Piedmont with Mickelsen Brown- Service Mortuary in charge. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home where the body will be until an hour before services. Mrs. Hall died Thursday at Regional Medical Center. Survivors include two sons, Howard A. Hall of Weaver and Charlie J. Hall of Piedmont; and two grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Woodrow Carter, Hubert Masters, Jerry Warren, Tommy Hilburn, Wade Sprouse and Kenny Kelly. Mrs. Hall was a resident of Piedmont most of her life and a member of the Church of God. Mr. Patron Hoke, Sr. son of the late Mr. And Mrs. Henry Hoke was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on July 26, 1906.his family moved to Cedartown when He was very young. He remained a resident of Cedartown until he expired on March 24, 1987. Patron leaves to mourn six children: Mrs. Mildred Jackson, Compton California; Mrs. Bernice Careathers, Detroit Michigan; Mr. Henry Hoke, Warren, Ohio; Mr. Perry Cooper, Atlanta, Georgia; Mr. Patron Hoke Jr. and Mrs. Hattie jJackson of Cedartown; a Sister, Mrs. Jeanette Browder, Compton, California; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-six Great grandchildren; two sons-in-laws; Mr. Clarence Careathers and Mr.Leon Jackson; three daughters-in-laws Mrs. Mary Hoke, Mrs. Perry Cooper, and Mrs. Juanita Hoke; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy Taylor; one brother-in law, Mr. Charles Taylor, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Blonie Ingram, age 91, Rockmart, Ga., passed away at her residence, August 4, 1987. She was born in Haralson County, March 18, 1896; member of the Second Baptist Church; daughter of the late Hansel and Ida Mitchell King. Survivors include three sons, Mr. Forrest Ingram, Cedartown, Mr. Buell Ingram, Rockmart, Mr. Harold Ingram, Kennesaw, Ga.; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Hastins, Sandy Springs., Mrs. Margie Sloan, Mrs. Ann Hutcheson, both of Rockmart; two brothers, Mr. Ernest King, Mr. Clifton King, both of Rockmart; one sister, Mrs. Jewell Waters, Marietta, Ga.; 27 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday, August 6, 2"00 p.m. from the Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Leith Herman and the Rev. James Brewer officiating. Interment followed in Prospect Cemetery. Mr. Robert Herman Jones, age 53, of 331 Woodlawn Drive, Cedartown, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 1985 in Floyd Medical Center. Mr. Jones was born July 1, 1931 in Simsboro, LA. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church; was a graduate of Northwestern State College in Natchitoches, LA.; graduate of the Sacred Heart Hospital school of Anesthesia at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA; was Young Man of the Year for the Cedartown Jaycees in 1962; representative of the northwest Georgia Regional Health Advisory Council; member of the Governor's Health Care Committee, and an anesthetist in private practice since 1958. Survivors include: his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur O. Jones of Simsboro, LA; wife, Mrs. Elaine Jones of Cedartown, one son, Mr. Bradley Jones of Cedartown; two daughters, Miss Robin Jones of Denver, CO.. Mrs. Boni Jones Linnemeyer, of Trinidad, CO; two borthers, Mr. George Jones of Simsboro, LA, Mr, Calvin Jones, of Farmerville, LA.; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Poland of Garland, Texas; Mrs. Eva Ford of Ashdown, Arkansas; one grandchild also survives.Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 30 at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Mahan and the Rev. Bill McKinnon officiating. Internment followed in the Walnut Creek Cemetary in Simsboro, LA. Active pallbearers were Tom Goss, Wilburn Brown, Lloyd Gray, Dr. Jerry Weaver, George Moon, and Marion Cummings. Honorary Pallbearers were Dr. Mary Lucchese, Dr. W.H. Blanchard, Dr. C.B. Clyde Smith LaFayette, died Friday, October 28. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mildred Horn Smith, LaFayette; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Miller, LaFayette; and Mrs. Betty Stephens, Cedartown; one sister, Mrs. Daisy Carr, Rome two brothers, Arnold Smith and V. P. Smith, both of Rock Springs. Six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held Sunday, October 30, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Lane Funeral Home, LaFayette with the Rev. Amos Adams officiating, Interment followed in the LaFayette Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Doshie Weldon LeGrande, 90, Rockmart, died Sunday, October 30. Mrs. LeGrande was born August 18, 1898, in Heard County. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Willie Mae Norton and Mrs. Mildred Robinson, both of Rockmart; one brother, J. V. Weldon, Buchanan; two Sisters, Mrs. Lonie Brown, Buchanan; Mrs. Verner Driver, Atlanta. Four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren survive. Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 1, at 2 p.m. in the Rockmart Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Hugh Barrett and the Rev. Randy Wheeler officiating. Interment followed in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Kirk Sproull, Phil Spann, Anthony Robinson, Van LeGrande, Michael LeGrande; and Bryan LeGrande. Members of the Eastern Star served as honorary pallbearers. The Freeman Harris Funeral Home of Rockmart had charge of arrangements. Appeared in the Cedartown Standard November 03, 1988.

Mr. Emory Williams Lockridge, Services for Mr. Lockridge age 78, of W. 35th St., Anniston, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary with Revs. Pete Haynes and H. L. Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Plum Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight at the funeral. Mr. Lockridge died Wednesday at Stringfellow Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Gladys Lockridge of Anniston; a son, Walter Lockridge of Chattanooga, Tenn., seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be nephews. Mr. Lockridge was a Blue Mountain resident since 1941. He was retired from Linen Thread Co. after 36 years of service. (Anniston Star, Friday, Page 11 B, July 23, 1993)

Mr. Horace Edward McGatha, Services for Mr. McGatha, age 67, of Piedmont, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Mickelsen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James Masters and the Rev. Pierce Ashmore officiating. Burial will be at Piedmont Memory Gardens with Mickelsen Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 9 tonight. Mr. McGatha died Friday at his home. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margie McGatha of Piedmont; a daughter, Mrs. Theresa McElwee of Piedmont; a son, Horace W. McGatha of Piedmont; five sisters, Mrs. Betty Bishop, Mrs. Sarah Ferguson, Mrs. Evelyn Wheeling and Mrs. Minnie Green, all of Centre, and Mrs. Hazel Russell of Laredo, Texas; two brothers, Fred McGatha of Centre, and M. L. McGatha of Talladega; two grandchildren; and several adopted grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Thacker, Johnny Thacker, Danny Thacker, Charles Thacker, Horace Neyman, Keith McGatha and Steve McGatha. Mr. McGatha was a Cherokee County resident most of his life, a World War II veteran and a retired farmer. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Marion and Maybelle McGatha. Mr. Moody was born July 5, 1893, in Whitfield County, Ga.; member of the Kresge United Methodist Church. Survivors include; two daughters, Mrs. Lee Dingler, Mrs. William Dawson, both of Cedartown; one brother, Mr. Henry Moody, Bremen, Ga.; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Mae Carter and Mrs. Olin Gann, both of Orange Park, Fla.; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday from Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Dewey Bailey officiating. Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home of Cedartown was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Frances Lottie Parham, of Cedartown, died Thursday, October 27. Mrs. Parham was born March 7, 1922 in Polk County. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. May McDowell, Rockmart; one son, Joe Parham, Cedartown; two sisters, Mrs. Mozell Knight, Rockmart; Mrs. Ruby Reynolds, Cedartown, Four randchildren also survive. Funeral services were held Saturday, October 29, at 2 p.m. in the Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Wright, the Rev. James Crabb officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Surviving as pallbearers were Dub Dempsey, Gus Swafford, Sunny Gore, Mike Duncan, Ed. Coker and Guy Atkins. Gammage Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. Edward (Penny) Pearce, 92, Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Aragon, died Friday, October 28. Mr. Pearce was born October 31, 1895, in Polk County. He was a member of the Hillscreek Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, Edward Lewis Pearce, St. Augustine; Joe Pearce, Jacksonville, Fla.. Four Grandchildren and two great great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held Monday, October 31, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with the Rev. Howard Locklear officiating. Interment followed in Hillscreek Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were James Hembree, Johnny Hembree; Grady Column, C. J. Griffin, Troy Alexander, James Gentry, Edward Rowell. Freeman Harris Funeral Home of Rockmart had charge of arrangements. Appeared in the Cedartown Standard, November 3, 1988.

Mrs. Ollie Ingram Mullinax, age 73, of 118 Marshall Street, Cedartown, passed away Friday, December 16, 1983. Mrs. Mullinax was born September 3, 1910, in Polk County, Ga. She was preceded in death by her husband. Mr. Allen Mullinax in 1974. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cedartown and a member of the Wingfoot Club. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Vurla Thornton; one son in law, Mr. Ernie Thornton of Cedartown; two sisters, Mrs. Letha Sanders, Mrs. Mary Calloway, both of Cedartown, one grandchild, Allen Thornton, Cedartown. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, December 17th in the Chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with the Rev. Cecil W. Johnson and the Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating. Interment followed in Polk Memory Gardens Pallbearers were Allen Thornton, Ricky Peck, Barry Buttram, Larry Mullinax, Lloyd Mullinax, James Calloway. The Lester C. Mrs. Gladys Lindsey Owens, age 75, Route 2, Fish Creek Community, died early Wednesday at a Rockmart hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Owens was born Feb. 21, 1914, in Paulding County, daughter of the late Martin Van Buren Sanford and Hardie Terry Sanford. She had been a longtime resident of Rockmart and was a member of the Rockmart-Aragon Rebecca Lodge No. 28. She was of the Baptist Faith. Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her husband, Harrison Lindsey. Survivors include: three son, Buddy Lindsey, Paul Lindsey and Terry Lindsey, all of Rockmart; two daughters, Mrs. Edith Landrum, Cedartown, and Mrs. Marie Thomas, Rockmart; two brothers, William Sanford, Cartersville, and Ray Sanford, Rockmart; four sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Young, Mrs. Lucille Hatfield, Mrs. Nell Cannon and Mrs. Annie Mae Popham, all of Cartersville; 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Euharlee Baptist Church with the Rev. Lawrence Garrett and Parnick Jennings, Jr. officiating. Mrs. Willie Mae Gilham Myers Rainey, age 70, 71 Thomas Rd., N.E., died Monday at 7:40 p.m. in a Rome nursing home following an extended illness. Mrs. Rainey was born April 29, 1913 in Cherokee County, Ala., daughter of the late Charlie Gilham and Ethel Highfield Gilham, but had lived most of her life in Floyd County. She attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was employed with Medi-Clean Services, retiring in 1975. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Barbara Burt, Rome, Mrs. Bernice Allen, Rome, Mrs. Shirley Bolinger, Cedartown; two sons, Carey Myers, Rome, Bobby Myers, Cedartown; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Ashley, Rome, Mrs. Violet Ashley, Rome; two brothers, George Gilliam, Rome, Harvel Gilliam, Rome; 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Jackson Chapel United Methodist Church with Revs. Hershel Caldwell and Eddie Dempsey officiating. Jimmy Phil Roach, Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Pleasant Hope Baptist Church. The Rev. Richard Smith, the Rev. Bob Bagley and the Rev. J. Holland Thomas will officiate. Interment will be at Floyd Memory Gardens. Mr. Roach, 42, of 358 Pleasant Hope Road, Silver Creek, died Saturday morning ( July 23, 1988) in a Rome hospital from injuries suffered in an automobile wreck. Mr. Roach was born in Floyd County on April 9, 1946, son of Dewey Marvin Roach and the late Willie Everett Roach. He was employed with Battey Machinery Co. for the past 10 years. He was a deacon and member of the Pleasant Hope Baptist Church and was formerly a member of the Marine Corps Reserve. Survivors include his wife, the former Mary Annie Dill, to whom he was married on Dec. 2, 1964; a daughter, Miss Ursula Tina Roach, Silver Creek; father, Rome; three brothers, Wayne Taylor and William Taylor, both of Aragon, and Chandler Taylor, Lindale; a sister Mrs. Bonita Waddell, Aragon; nieces and nephews.(Rome News Tribune, July 24, 1988)

Mr. Amos Slaughter, age 67, Route 1, Esom Hill, GA., passed away Monday, September 17th, 1984 in Polk General Hospital. Mr. Slaughter was born October 13, 1916 in Cherokee County, Ala. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Velma Crawford Slaughter of Esom Hill; three daughters, Mrs. Don Wheeler and Miss Connie Slaughter, both of Esom Hill, Mrs. Pat McAlpin of Tallapoosa, GA. two brothers, Mr. Ralph Slaughter of Nashville, GA.; Mr. Clarence Slaughter of Jacksonville, Ala.; Two sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Outz of Tampa, Fla., Mrs. Willie (Bill) Slaughter of Dalton, GA.; 12 Grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 18, in the Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Hobart Pierce, the Rev. Robert Wright officiating interment followed in the Shiloh Cemetery. Pallbearers were Roy Price, Donnie Howard, David Jones, James Keel, Edward Lackey, Eddie Lackey. The Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home of Cedartown was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Annie Mae Smith, age 55, Route 2, Rockmart, Ga., passed away August 6, 1987. She was born in Polk County, February 16, 1932. Survivors include her husband, Mr. Hoke Smith, Rockmart; five sons, Mr. Timothy Smith, Mr. Sammy Smith, Mr. Charles Smith, Mr. Roy Smith, Mr. David Smith all of Rockmart; one daughter, Mrs. Emmer Moore, Lavell, Fla.; two brothers, Mr. James Dotson, Dalton, GA., Mr. Charles Dotson, Decatur, Ga.; two sisters, Mrs. Sara Elizabeth Rowell, Warm Springs, Ga., Mrs. Betty June Windom, Graceville, Fl.. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 8 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with the Rev. Horace Wilson officiating. Interment followed in the Live Oak Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jimmy Frix, Charles Dotson, Jr., Kelvin Dotson, Sam Rowell, Randy Roberts, Junior Moore and Tyrone Rowell. Freeman Harris Funeral Home of Rockmart was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Belle Smith, 95, passed away Friday Morning, (May 27, 1987) in a Rome Hospital. She was born June 23, 1891 in Resaca, GA., member of the Mountain Home Baptist Church and was a retired Goodyear employee. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Frances Farmer of Cedartown, Mrs. Viola McElwee of Rome; 128 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Funeral Services were held at 4:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Anderson, the Rev. A. J. Carr officiating. Interment followed in Jackson Chapel Cemetery. The Gammage Funeral Home of Cedartown was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Earnest Smith, 75, of 206 Jackson Street, Cedartown, passed away Monday, August 3, 1987 in an out of town hospital after an extended illness. Mr. Smith was born May 28, 1912, in Paulding County. He was a retired textile employee and a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Navy. Surviving are his wife Mrs. Rosie Jarrell Smith of Cedartown, three sisters; Mrs. Louise Walker of Powder Springs, Mrs. Ethel Rainey of Cedartown and Mrs. Della Jo Turner of Summerville; three brothers; Leon Smith of Clarksdale, D. L. Smith of Dallas, and J. L. Smith of Mableton. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with the Rev. James L. Rosser officiating. Interment was in Polk Memory Gardens with full military rites conducted by Brewster Cleveland Post No. 86, Cedartown. Gammage Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Harvey J. Smith, 60, 18 Park St., Cave Spring, died Friday, (September 11, 1981) in a Rome hospital following an extended illness of two years. He was born in Cherokee County, Ala., Sept. 4, 1921, son of Oscar Smith and the late Omie Alexander Smith. He had been a resident of Cave Spring most of his like and was a member of the Cave Spring Baptist Church. Prior to ill health, he was employed by the Marietta Daily Journal for 17 years. Survivors include the widow, the former Evelyn Pruitt, whom he married, Jan. 5, 1946; one son Sammy Smith, Cave Spring; one daughter, Mrs. Vicky Jacobs, Rome; father Oscar Smith, Cedartown; three brothers, Earl Smith, Lindale, Horace Smith, Centre, Ala., Marvin Smith, Rome; one sister, Mrs. Elsie Pruitt, Cave Spring; four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Cave Spring Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Lewis officiating. Interment will be in Cave Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers include, Gene Givens, Greg Ringo, Steve Pruitt, Eddy Smith, Ronnie Pruitt, Jerry Broome, Johnny Pruitt and Terry Bishop. Mrs. Minnes Lee Stephens Smith, age 79 of Rt. No. 3 Judkins Mill Road, Cedartown passed away Friday, April 3, 1987 in an out-of-town hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. Smith was born July 12, 1907 in Polk County, TN. and was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Mr. George W. Smith. Survivors include: five daughters, Mrs. Catherine Short, Mrs. Shirley Dowdy and Mrs. Betty Smith, all of Cedartown, Mrs. Edna Stephens of Buford, GA., and Mrs. Bonnie Laminack of Muscadine, Alabama; six sons, Mr. George Smith, Jr. of Sarasota, Fl., Mr. Robert Charles Smith of Cedartown, Mr. Edward B. Smith of Bradenton, FL., Mr. Billy Ray Smith of Silver Creek, GA., Mr. Melvin Smith of Bradenton, FL., and Mr. James Michael Smith of Cedartown; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Jarrett of Gadsden, Ala., and Mrs. Mary Cole of Kosciusko, Miss., three brothers, Mr. Fred Stephens and Mr. T. E. Stephens, both of Gadsden, AL., Mr.. Edward Stephens of Los Angeles, California; 42 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren. Funeral service were held Sunday April 5, at 2:00 p.m., in the Union Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Earl Anderson and the Rev. Donald Leggett officiating. Interment followed in Oak Grove Cemetery, nephews served as pallbearers. The Gammage Funeral Home of Cedartown was in charge of the arrangements.

Oscar Smith, Funeral services for Oscar Smith were at 2 p.m. today (D-March 28, 1989) at Cave Spring Baptist Church. The Rev. James Guy and the Rev. Glenn Puckett officiated. Interment was in Forney, ALA. Mr. Smith, 101, of 18 Park St., Cave Spring, died Tuesday evening at a Rome health-care center. He was born in Cherokee County, Ala., March 15, 1888, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Tom Smith. He had been a longtime resident of Floyd County, where he was a member of the Cave Spring Baptist Church and was a retired farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Omie Alexander Smith in 1936. Survivors include a daughter, three sons, Earl Smith, Lindale, Marvin Smith, Rome, and Horace Smith, Centre, Ala.; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Mr. Nim W. Sorrells, of 209, Atlanta Street, passed away Sunday. He was born November 7, 1890 in Polk County; member of the Congregational Holiness Church; preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Nettie Belle Sorrells in 1967. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Annie Riley, Mrs. Ruby Simpson, both of Cedartown; one brother, Judson Sorrells of Cedartown; sister, Mrs. Annie Belle Perry, Gastonia, N.C.; one granddaughter, Mrs. Shirley Teems of Dallas, GA.; three grandsons; one great grand-grandson. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Congregational Holiness Church with the Rev. A.J. Carr officiating. Interment followed in New Harmony Cemetery. Mr. Frank Swinney, Sr., age 73, of 108 Wiley Drive, Cedartown, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 1987 in Floyd Medical Center. Mr. Swinney was born June 13, 1914 in Floyd County. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Gladys Willis Swinney of Cedartown; one son Frank Swinney, Jr., Cedartown; two daughters, Sandra Livoisi of West Minister, Maryland, and Jean Weaver of Grand Bay, Ala.; four brothers, Joe L. Swinney of Jacksonville, Fla., F. D. Swinney, Knots Island, N. C., Earl Swinney of Jacksonville, Fla., Robert O. Swinney of Ringgold, Ga.; three sisters, Mrs. Mae Teasley of Atlanta, Mrs. Lassie Cambron of Rome, GA., Mrs. Doris Nichols of East Point, GA.; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 7, in the chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with the Rev. Grady Kines officiating. Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Maldred Annett Wooten, age 57, of Route 4, Lees Chapel Road passed away Tuesday after a long illness. She was born July 10, 1923 in Forney, Ala., but had lived in Cedartown for the past 34 years. She was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Rome for the past 39 years. Survivors include her husband, Herschel J. Wooten, Cedartown; one daughter, Mary Ann Hampton of Cedartown; one son, Ricky John Wooten of Cedartown; two grandchildren, Rhonda Lynn Hampton and Kimberly Ann Hampton, both of Cedartown; one sister, Mrs. Alma Hester, Rome. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday from the Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Rome with Elder H.D. Sparks and Elder J.V. Shankles officiating. Interment followed in Polk Memory Garden in Cedartown. Pallbearers were Wilburn Adams, Carlton Adams, Bill Hester, Jeff Olive, Dewayne Roberson, Mike Roberson. Mrs. Cora Worthington Williams, age 90, of 125 Vance Avenue, Cedartown, Ga., passed away Saturday, December 26, 1987. Mrs. Williams Was born September 20, 1897 in Polk County. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. Survivors include; three sons, H. R. (Sonny) Williams, M. A. Williams, Leesburg, Ala., Charles Williams, Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Eddie McDowell, Cedartown, Mrs. Virginia Wheeler, Lawrenceville, Ga.; two sisters, Betty Adair, Cedartown, Lois Whitaker, Smyrna, Ga.; 21 grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, December 28, at 2 p.m. in the Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Earl Montgolf, The Rev. J. T. Howard, the Rev. Jeff Norman officiating. Interment followed in the Antioch Cemetery. Grandsons serves as pallbearers. Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home of Cedartown was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Mary L. Wills, 92, 210 Melissa Lane, Cedartown died Thursday, October 27. Mrs. Wills was born June 29, 1896 in Polk County. She was the daughter of the Rev. Ben and Julia Wood Lee. Mrs. Wills was a member of Youngs Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Wills is preceded in death by her husband, James Wills, and a son, Bud Wills. Surviving are four sons, James Wills, Fred Wills, Howard Wills and Charles Wills, all of Cedartown; six daughters, Mrs. Lena Sanders, Mrs. Annie Mae Williams, Mrs. Mary Yarbrough, and Mrs. Betty Perkins, all of Cedartown; Mrs. Maureen Meers, Rome; Mrs. Julin Coalson, Rome; one sister, Mrs. Agnes Walker, Cedartown. Twenty three grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were to be held Saturday, October 29, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Freeman Harris Funeral Home with the Rev. Delton Harne and the Rev. Hugh Barrett officiating. Interment followed in Northview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Stewart Wills, Mike Wills, Billy Wills, Lee Wills and Greg Wills, Edward Williams, Charles Williams, Jerry Coalson, Ken Coalson and Jimmy Landers. The Freeman Harris Funeral Home, of Rockmart, had charge of arrangements. Appeared in the Cedartown Standard, November 1, 1988.

Miss Mary Frances Wright, age 77, of Marietta, died Tuesday in Marietta. Miss Wright was born Feb. 19, 1912. Survivors include her sister Mrs. Dorothy Wright Abernathy, Rockmart. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Freeman Harris Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Northview Cemetery in Cedartown.(Cedartown Standard, March 29, 1989)
