My
grandfather
Timothy Carney was one of the founders of Chatsworth. Known as "Tade"
he was erroneously referrred to as "Tay" in the MURRAY COUNTY
HERITAGE. Born in Ireland in 1848 to ANDREW and Margaret(Shea)
CARNEY they came to Fancy Hill about 1851 and later in Spring
Place. Margaret died 6/1885 there but no record when Andrew died.
He was reported to have joined the Union Army during the civil war and
Timothy served in Murray County Cohutta Rangers C.S.A. Timothy married
Mary E. Etheridge there in 1874 and their children were: Mary
Agnes m.Paul Snyder, Margaret Ellen m.Lee Galt,John Francis m. Vivian
Barber, Bertha Mae m. Mose Holland,Thomas A.( Never married),
Biddie Lee m. W.A. Stephenson, William H.(Never married), Joel T. m.
Mattie Sue Whitfield and my father Carl Edwin m. Helen Mary
Keating. Siblings of Timothy: Mary, m.Adoniram J. Etheridge (bro.
of Mary Etheridge above in double ring cerermony),Thomas, Johannah, m.
Lee Galt (above) as widower and Jeremiah m. J.A. Chastain. Would like
to hear from any relatives. Tim Howard on Etheridge side and I
