Chapter was started on
On May 22, 2008, Avagail Poole Flowers, National #28484, transferred from Lt. William Shannon Chapter 278 to the War Hawks 358. The same day, Deborah Smith Graham, National #26445, transferred from the Florida State Society, and then there were two.

During this
time flags were purchased for and by the chapter, a
checking account was established and five 1812 Patriot Indexes were
secured.
Three volumes are to stay with our Registrar. Our web site was started
on July
24 by our Web Master, Ann Waggaman. The web site was approved and added
to
State and National by Susan Szewczyk on July 24, 2008.
On July 30,
2008 The War Hawks had an organization meeting at which
time we adopted the chapter bylaws and established meeting times. Our
chapter
will meet on the last Tuesday of the months of November, January, March
and
May. Chapter dues were established dues, officers were elected by the
membership and plans were made for the charter meeting. The first
pictures and information
appeared on the web site later that night and we were all so proud.

The Charter
meeting was held on September 27, 2008. Joyce Sizemore,
State President, presented the Charter and installed the officers.
Guests
attending were Joyce Sizemore, State President; Anne Stewart, Honorary
President National, Honorary State President, State Treasurer and
Parliamentarian;
and Glenda Walton, State Curator. A congratulatory letter to the
chapter from
Charlotte Young Slinkard,
President Nation and
Florida member was read to those present.
Joyce Sizemore
installed the officers and presented each with a
white carnation, the designated flower for the US Daughters of 1812.
Organizing
President Avagail Flowers presented charter certificates and welcomed
all of
the charter members into the War Hawks. Luncheon was served and the
Charter
established.
