Carolina State
Troops during the War of 1812.
Born 21 October
1788, Charleston District, SC, he was a son of Matthew
Fender. David
Fender died 14 November 1886, Clinch County, GA and
is buried in Fender
Cemetery, outside of Lakeland, Clinch County, GA.
David Fender
married Mary "Mollie" Molsy Rentz, daughter of Simon and
Mary Rentz of Barnwell District, SC. To Mollie and David
Fender were
born thirteen children who lived to maturity. David Fender
and family
emigrated from Barnwell District, SC to what was then
Lowndes County,
GA in 1828, and settled on the east side of the Alapaha
River in the
10th land district. In 1850 the family was cut off into
the new county of
Clinch, in 1920 the territory became Lanier County. Mr.
Fender died
there on November 14, 1886, shortly after his 100th
birthday.
David Fender left a
will, undated, which was probated in Clinch County of
Ordinary, and named
his son, Jacob L., as executor. However, as the
latter had preceded his
father in death, another son, Henry, was
appointed administrator with the will annexed.
