How to Become a Member of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War 1861-1865

The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War 1861-1865 is the only Civil War women's organization that is genealogically based on lineal descent.

Eligibility is through lineal descent of an honorably discharged soldier or sailor who served in the Union Army, Navy or Marine Corps and Revenue Cutter Service during the Rebellion of 1861-1865, including those who died or were killed during while serving in the Armed Services of the Union between April 12, 1861 and April 9, 1865.

Membership is limited to daughters, granddaughters, and great granddaughters, etc. who are at least eight years of age.

When you submit your application, you will need to include a copy of your ancestor's war record. To obtain your ancestor's military service records, please refer to The National Archives website.
