WILLIAM H. BURDETT.
William H. Burdett, who is filling the office of clerk of the district court in Uinta county, makes his home in Evanston, where he was born on the 21st of August, 1884, a son of James and Sarah (Lethbridge) Burdett, who are mentioned elsewhere in this work in connection with the sketch of his brother, Ernest G. Burdett. The family numbered seven sons and two daughters, of whom William H. was the fifth. At the usual age he became a pupil in the public schools of Evanston. passing through consecutive grades to the high school, and he made his initial step in the business world in connection with the Dawson & Burdett Grocery Company. He occupied a clerical position in their establishment up to the time of the dissolution of the firm, after which his father organized the Burdett Mercantile Company, and William H. Burdett was connected with that business until 1911. He then entered the employ of the city of Evanston in connection with teaming work, and in November, 1912, he was elected to the position of clerk of the court and assumed his duties in January, 1913. He was reelected in 1914 and again in 1916, so that he is now serving for the third term, his reelections being indisputable proof of his capability and fidelity in office. On the 30th of October, 1906, Mr. Burdett was united in marriage to Miss Florence Sims, of Evanston. She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Sims, who were pioneers of Almy, Wyoming. The father is now one of the prominent stock raisers and cattlemen of Uinta county. To Mrs. and Mrs. Burdett have been born four children: Clarence William, who was born in 1907 and died January 15, 1917; Ethel Laurina, who was born in 1910 and is now attending school; James Glenn, born in May, 1915; and Clara, born August 9, 1917. Mr. Burdett is one of the progressive and enterprising young business men and citizens of Uinta county, where his entire life has been passed. His life record is as an open book which all may read. All who know him, and he has a wide acquaintance, entertain for him warm regard and he has an extensive circle of friends in Uinta county.
