THOMAS P. FAHEY.
Thotnas P. Fahey, a well known attorney of Cheyenne, has been actively engaged in practice for only a brief period but already has demonstrated his ability to cope with important legal problems. He was born in Raymond, Illinois, on the 6th of March, 1876, a son of Patrick and Elizabeth (Holden) Fahey. The father, who filled the office of deputy county clerk in Montgomery county, Illinois, there passed away at the very early age of twenty-four years and his wife died in the same year.
Their son, Thomas P. Fahey, was only nine months of age at the time of the death of his parents. He pursued his early education in the public schools of Hillsboro, Illinois, being graduated from the high school, and later he continued his studies in the University of Wisconsin. He came to Wyoming in 1905 and through the intervening period of thirteen years has been a resident of this state. He first took up coal mining, in which he engaged a short time, and afterward he became connected with the miners' organization in an official capacity, so continuing for five years. He also spent one year as editor of a labor journal and in 1912 he became a candidate for congress on the democratic ticket but suffered defeat at that election. During the succeeding four years he was chief of the Carey act department in the office of the commissioner of public lands but at length resigned and entered upon the practice of law, for which he had qualified as a student in the state University of Wisconsin and by further study in Wyoming. He was admitted to the bar in this state in February, 1917, and, began the private practice of law, in which he is now actively engaged. Since June 9, 1917, he. is secretary and treasurer of the Bankers & Stockmen's Trust Company of Cheyenne, and acts as its general counsel.
On the 9th of September, 1909 Mr. Fahey was united in marriage to Miss Cecelia V. Scott, a daughter of John Scott, of Missouri. They are Catholics in religious faith and Mr. Fahey is identified with the Knights of Columbus, -in which he has attained the third degree. In politics he is an active democrat, doing everything in his power to promote the growth and insure the success of his party. He enjoys outdoor life, to which he turns for rest and recreation. He is greatly interested in the state and its development, is a believer in its future and is putting forth effective and public-spirited effort for its upbuilding. His worth as a man and citizen is widely acknowledged and he is everywhere spoken of in terms of warm regard.
