The Stockgrowers Bank of Buffalo,
one of the most successful banks in northern Wyoming, was organized
and began business in 19o2. This bank was organized by B. S.
Langworthy, who previous to this time had been connected with
the First National Bank of Seward, Nebraska, and who is now the vice
president of the Montana National Bank at Billings, Montana. From its
inception this bank has been very successful and enjoys an immense
patronage from the surrounding country. Associated with B. S.
Langworthy was S. C. Langworthy, who has been in active management of
the bank as vice president and cashier for the entire sixteen years.
D. A. Kingsbury, one of the pioneers of Wyoming, was the first
president of the bank, and of late years this position has been held
by Fred Waegele, a retired sheepman and capitalist. The bank has
grown from deposits in 1902 of fifty thousand dollars to over five
hundred thousand dollars in 1917. It reflects the growth and changing
conditions of Johnson county. In all this time the bank has paid its
dividends regularly every six months and has never missed one. They
possess a very commodious bank room with elegant fixtures, making an
appearance that would do credit to a bank in a city many times the
size of Buffalo.
