ROBERT J. PRICE.
Among the capable officials of Hot Springs county is numbered Robert J. Price, who is filling the position of county assessor. He is one of Wyoming's native sons, his birth having occurred at Milford, January 12, 1886, his parents being Jacob and Margaret (Lanigan) Price. The mother was born in the state of New York, while the father's birth occurred in Missouri. In the year 1862 Margaret Lanigan was brought by her parents to Wyoming and the family became one of the earliest of the pioneer families of this state. Here she was reared and married, and by her marriage she became the mother of eight children, five of whom are yet living.
Robert J. Price was reared under the parental roof and educated in the common schools and also attended the university at Notre Dame, Indiana, where he completed his course in 1905. After his textbooks were put aside he turned his attention to the live stock business, which he yet follows, and is today one of the well known stock men of his section of the state. He owns a ranch of several hundred acres on which he pastures his cattle, and in the management of his business affairs he displays sound judgment and keen discrimination.
In 1907 Mr. Price was united in marriage to Miss Edna Barker, who was born at Glenrock, Wyoming. a daughter of James and Dora Barker. the former now deceased, while the latter is still living. Mr. and Mrs. Price have become the parents of a son, Martin Robert, who was born February 11, 1910.
Mr. Price is a communicant of the Catholic church and fraternally he is connected with the Knights of Columbus. belonging to the lodge at Casper. His political allegiance is given to the republican party and upon that ticket he has been elected for the second term to the office of county assessor, which position he is now filling. He discharges his duties in a methodical, systematic manner and with promptness and fidelity, and endorsement of his first term's service came to him in his reelection.
