JOSEPH T. KENDALL.
Joseph T. Kendall is the president of the Western National Life Insurance Company, with offices in Cheyenne, and in this connection is well known as a most prominent representative of insurance interests in the west.
A native of Indiana. he was born on the 16th of April, 1873, and is a son of William H. and Margaret (Waller) Kendall. The father devoted his attention in early manhood to the occupation of farming and later turned to the real estate business. At the time of the Civil war he espoused the cause of the Union and went to the front in defense of the stars and stripes, participating in a number of important engagements.
Joseph T. Kendall began his education in the public schools of Indiana, and, mastering the work of the various grades, eventually reached the high school, being thus well qualified for life's practical and responsible duties. When his textbooks were put aside he turned his attention to merchandising, in which he engaged for six years. On the expiration of that period he took up the insurance business, which he followed in various places, and in November, 1916, came to Wyoming and was elected to the presidency of the Western Life Insurance Company, having its home at Cheyenne. His previous experience well qualifies him for the onerous and responsible duties that devolve upon him in this connection. He is thoroughly familiar with every phase of the insurance business and his careful direction and experience have splendidly fitted him for the organization of the interests of the company. Passing on to a position of executive control, he is now bending his energies largely to organization, to constructive effort and administrative direction.
On the 29th of August, 1906, Mr. Kendall was married to Miss Anna May McKinnon, and their children are Margaret A. and Josephine Dell. Mr. Kendall votes with the republican party and is a firm believer in its principles, but has never sought or desired office as a reward for party fealty. He has attained the thirty-second degree of the Scottish Rite in Masonry and is also a member of the Mystic Shrine. He likewise belongs to the Industrial Club.
His record is characterized by constantly developing powers, owing to the exercise of his effort. Recognizing the specific needs along the distinctive lines chosen for his life work, his has been an active career, in which he is accomplishing important and farreaching results, contributing in no small degree to the benefit of others, and himself deriving substantial benefit.
