JOSEPH 0. GODFREY.
Joseph 0. Godfrey, who is engaged in the clothing business in Lovell, was born in Lafayette county, Wisconsin, on the 15th of September, 1884, a son of J. S. and Mary (Curwen) Godfrey, the former a native of Ireland and the latter of Wisconsin. They were married in Wisconsin and both have passed away. Their. family numbered four children, three of whom survive.
Joseph 0. Godfrey spent his youthful days in his native state and acquired his education in the common schools. He was a youth of eighteen years when in 1902 he bade adieu to friends and the old home in Wisconsin and started for the west. He first located in Fremont county, Wyoming, whence he removed to Lovell, where he has since made his home. He established a clothing store, which he has since conducted, and he has a thoroughly modern store, carrying a large and attractive line of clothing and men's furnishings. His store is neatly and tastefully arranged and his stock represents the latest goods sent out by the manufacturers. His business methods, too, thoroughly reliable and straightforward, commend him to the confidence of the public as his patronage is now very gratifying.
Mr. Godfrey is a communicant of the Episcopal church and his life is guided by its teachings. His political faith is that of the republican party and he is now serving as town clerk of Lovell. He has also been treasurer of the town for one term, serving under Mayor Jolley. He has made a creditable record in office and in business circles and is accounted one of the foremost citizens of Bighorn county.
