Guy J. Gay, filling the position of postmaster at Thermopolis, was born in Nebraska, September 27, 1886, a son of Clarence J. and Phoebe Elizabeth (LeLacheur) Gay. The father is a native of Michigan and the mother of Iowa. They were married in Nebraska and are still living at Fullerton, that state. They had a family of three children.
Guy J. Gay was reared and educated in Nebraska, acquiring a common school education, supplemented by a course in high school, which he completed by graduation. He then traveled as a salesman for the Beebe & Runyan Furniture Company of Omaha, Nebraska, and in 1909 he became a resident of Thermopolis, Wyoming, where he engaged in the furniture business. In 1913 he was appointed postmaster of Thermopolis and is now occupying that position. As the years have advanced he has made judicious investments of his surplus funds and is the owner of several valuable pieces of city property, together with a ranch in this section of the state.
In 1915 Mr. Gay was united in marriage to Miss Dale Pickett, a native of South Dakota. Both Mr. and Mrs. Gay are members of the Episcopal church and fraternally he is connected with the Masons and has taken high rank in the order, as is indicated by the fact that he is a Noble of the Mystic Shrine. He is a man of genuine worth, highly esteemed by all with whom he has come in contact. He has made wise use of his time, his talents and his opportunities and his steady progress in a business way has been the direct result of unfaltering effort and keen business discrimination.
