FREDERICK A. SNYDER.

FREDERICK A. SNYDER.
Frederick A. Snyder is actively engaged in merchandising at Lovell. He makes good use of his time, his talents and his opportunities and is steadily working his way upward along business lines, his activities contributing to the welfare and commercial progress of the community as well as to his individual success.
A native of Illinois, he was born in Mercer county on the 11th of July, 1873, his parents being Amos and Margaret (Nelson) Snyder, the former a native of Ohio, while the latter was born in Indiana. They removed to Illinois at an early period in the development of that state, settling upon a farm in Knox county, and at the time of the Civil war the father put aside all business and personal considerations in order to espouse the cause of the Union and went to the front in defense of the Stars and Stripes. After the war he again located in Illinois making his home in Mercer county, where he was married. He continued to live in Mercer county until 1876, when he removed to Iowa, the death of his wife occurring in that state. At a later period he took up his abode in Taylor county, Iowa.
Frederick A. Snyder was one of their two living children. He was reared and educated in Taylor county, Iowa, spending his youthful days upon the home farm. He subsequently went to St. Joseph, Missouri, where he engaged in the commission business for three years, and afterward spent two years in traveling through the south. In 1901 he arrived in Johnson county, Wyoming, where he remained for a short time, and then removed to Sheridan county, Wyoming, remaining there for a year. He afterward spent two years upon the road as a traveling salesman and in 1904 he took up his abode in Bighorn county, Wyoming. Lovell has numbered him among her residents since 1910, at which time he embarked in the general merchandise business in the town, and has since been closely and actively connected with the commercial pursuits of the community. He conducts a well appointed store which is accorded a liberal patronage as the result of his progressive methods, his enterprise and his honorable dealing. He is also the secretary and the treasurer of the Lovell Creamery and is acting as manager for the Lovell Commission Company. In addition he owns one hundred and twenty acres of fine land near the town, his farm property returning to him an excellent annual income. His property holdings also include several residences in Lovell and the store building in which he is engaged in general merchandising.
In politics Mr. Snyder maintains an independent course. He is now serving as a member of the town council and whether in office or out of it he works untiringly for the benefit of Lovell and its upbuilding. He is a member of the Commercial Club and he is widely and favorably known in the community, warm regard being entertained for him by reason of his allegiance to all those interests which constitute elements in individual uplift and result in public benefit.
