FRANK H. ALLYN.
Frank H. Allyn, engaged in the real estate, draftsman and insurance business at Riverton, is one of the native sons of Wyoming and the attractiveness of the state as a place of residence is indicated in the fact that he and many others born within her borders have remained here, enjoying her advantages and utilizing her resources in a business way.
Mr. Allyn was born May 6, 1875, his parents being John and Sarah A. (Ferguson) Allyn. The father is a native of Michigan, while the mother was born in Canada. They removed to Wyoming in the ’60s and Mrs. Allyn died in this state, The father is still living and makes his home in Denver, Colorado. They were the parents of four children, two of whom survive.
Frank H. Allyn was reared and educated in Wyoming, where he attended the common and high schools, passing through consecutive grades and eventually becoming prepared for further educational activities. He then entered the State University, where he received technical training along the line of drafting, which business he has since taken up. In 1906 he became a resident of Riverton and was postmaster of the town for seven years. Since then he has concentrated his efforts and attention upon the real estate, insurance and drafting business and has a good clientage in all these connections. He is thoroughly conversant with property values, knows the real estate upon the market and has negotiated various transfers. He also does excellent work as a draftsman and in the insurance field represents several of the old-line companies. As the opportunity has presented for judicious investment he has acquired large land holdings and in more recent years he has become associated with the development of oil lands. He is now secretary of the Lost Well Oil Company, which has four thousand acres of fine oil lands in the state.
In 1898 Mr. Allyn was united in marriage to Miss Mary J. Moore, who was horn in Schuyler county, Illinois. They have become parents of five children: Laura F., who is in high school; Sarah M.; Franklin R.; John W., deceased; and Edith G.
Mr. Allyn votes with the republican party and at all times keeps thoroughly conversant with the questions and vital issues of the day. He is now serving as town clerk of Riverton. Fraternally he is connected with the Masons, belonging to Riverton Lodge, No. 26, F. & A. M., in which he has filled all of the chairs. • He and his wife are members of the Baptist church, in which he is serving as one of the deacons, and they take a helpful interest in all that pertains to the social, intellectual, political and moral progress of the community in which they reside.
As a business man Mr. Allyn is progressive and resourceful, constantly watching, every opportunity for advancement, and as the years have gone on he has made substantial progress, placing him today with the representative and valued residents of Fremont county.
