EDGAR E. WAKEMAN.
Edgar E. Wakeman, a well known attorney of Gillette, who has won for himself a creditable position in the ranks of a profession where advancement depends entirely upon individual merit and ability, was born in South Dakota on the 8th of May, 1885, and is a brother of Don Wakeman, of whom mention is made elsewhere in this work. He was reared in Wyoming and attended the public schools, passing through the consecutive grades to the high school. He afterward pursued a course in a business college in Chicago and then entered upon the study of law in a college of that city. After thorough preliminary training and preparation he was admitted to the bar and entered upon practice in Gillette in 1916 as a member of the firm of Wakeman & Wakeman. Already he has gained a creditable position in commercial circles, having demonstrated his ability to successfully cope with complex and intricate legal problems.
Mr. Wakeman was married in 1911 to Miss Mary Joy, a native of Colorado, and to them has been born a daughter, Mary Charlotte. The parents attend the Episcopal church. They have an attractive home in Gillette which is the abode of warm-hearted hospitality, and Mr. Gillette also owns a ranch of six hundred and forty acres near Moorcroft, Wyoming. His political allegiance is given to the republican party and he has served as county treasurer of Crook county for a period of four years, proving a most faithful and able custodian of the public funds. Fraternally he is connected with the Masons, the Odd Fellows and the Knights of Pythias and is a worthy exemplar of the teachings of these fraternities, which recognize the brotherhood of mankind and the obligations thereby imposed. His fellow townsmen attest his genuine worth and speak of him in terms of high regard by reason of his professional skill and his ability and his worth as a man and as a citizen.
