E. J. FARLOW.
E. J. Farlow, a well known stock man of Fremont county, living in Lander, was born in Dallas county, Iowa, January 2, 1861. He spent his boyhood and youth there, acquiring his education in the public schools of his native county, which he attended until he reached the age of seventeen years. In 1878 he made his way westward to Wyoming, taking up his abode in Fremont county, where he turned his attention to the live stock business. He has since been engaged along that line and today owns over two thousand acres, constituting one of the fine ranches in this part of the country. Here he has five thousand head of sheep and ranks with the foremost stockmen of this section of the state. He is also identified with the Stockgrowers State Bank of Lander, which was organized in 1916 and has already become one of the strong and substantial financial institutions of Wyoming.
In 1883 Mr. Farlow was united in marriage to Miss Lizzie Lamoreaux and to them have been born two sons, Julius E. and Albert J., both of whom are married. They also have an adopted daughter, May Elizabeth, who is now attending an academy in Nebraska. The parents are members of the Catholic church and Mr. Farlow is identified with the Woodmen of the World and the Knights of Pythias. His political allegiance is given to the democratic party and  he served as United States ccmmissioner in Fremont county for a number of years. lie has also been a member cf the school board and he is a member of the state sheep board of Wyommg, a board which has to do with maintaining conditions favorable to sheep raising in this state. He is also associated with the oil interests and his business affairs have been of a character that have contributed to public progress as well as to individual success. His plans are well defined and he utilizes every opportunity that promotes their advancement. He came to the west when a youth of but seventeen years and since that time he has been actively identified with the development and upbuilding of Fremont county, which numbers him among her substantial and valued citizens.
