E. H. PARKISON.

E. H. PARKISON.
E. H. Parkison is a well known general merchant and cattle man of Carbon county, making his home at Encampment, with the commercial development of which he is closely associated through the conduct of his store. He was born in Milford Center, Ohio, October 28, 1868, and is a son of John and Eliza S. (Sanders) Parkison, both of whom are natives of Ohio. The father went to Colorado in 1879 and settled in Denver, where he engaged in business and where he still makes his home. Mrs. Parkison is now a resident of Seattle, Washington.
E. H. Parkison, who was the third in order of birth, spent his boyhood as a public school pupil in Denver and after his textbooks were put aside began work in the mining camps of Colorado and of Nevada, being identified for a long period with the mining industry. In 1898 he turned his attention to commercial lines in the establishment of the Parkison Mercantile Company and has conducted the business up to the present time. After the establishment of his store in Encampment he returned to Goldfield, Nevada, where for a time he engaged in the brokerage business with his brother, W. H. Parkison, the most prominent broker of that section, and also a leading figure in commercial circles, being identified with mercantile interests at Cripple Creek, Colorado, at Cheyenne, Wyoming, at Medicine Bow and in Encampment. He was murdered, however, in Goldfield, Nevada. The other members of the family are; W. S. Parkison, now living at Glenwood Springs, Colorado; J. E., whose home is in Seattle, Washington; P. W., who is a resident of Collbran, Colorado; Mrs. J. P. Baldrick, of De Beque, Colorado; and E. H., of this review, who was the third in order of birth. Aside from his connection with commercial interests at Encampment, E. H. Parkison of this review is connected with ranching and with cattle raising in Colorado and in Carbon county, Wyoming.
On the 19th of June, 1894, occurred the marriage of Mr. Parkison and Miss Ella S. Shields, of Aspen, Colorado, a daughter of Louis and Nora Shields, of that place. They now have two children: Hoyt S., who was born in Encampment in 1903 and is now attending school; and Mildred, who was born in Denver, Coloiado, in 1906.
In politics Mr. Parkison is maintaining an independent course and he does not seek nor desire public office, yet he is not remiss in the duties of citizenship and cooperates heartily in well defined plans and purposes to upbuild his city and state. He has in the conduct of his business affairs displayed initiative and enterprise, and brooking no obstacles that can be overcome by persistent and honorable effort, he has worked his way steadily upward and each forward step has brought him a broader outlook and wider opportunities.
