CONSTANT A. PAIGE.
Constant A. Paige, a well known and capable attorney practicing at Wheatland and filling the office of county attorney in Platte county, was born in Austria on the 29th of July, 1882, a son of Frank and Fredericka (Hanisch). Paige. The parents died during the early boyhood of their son, Constant A., who acquired his early education in the public schools of Austria and came to the United States in 1898, when about sixteen years of age. He did not tarry on the Atlantic coast but made his way at once into the interior of the country, settling in Laurens. Iowa. He afterward attended school in order to acquaint himself with the English language and later went to Ames, Iowa, where he spent one year in further study. He afterward completed his law course in the State University at Iowa City and was graduated with the class of 1906. After receiving his diploma he located for practice in Laurens, Iowa, where he remained for a year and a half, and on the expiration of that period made his way westward to Chugwater, Wyoming, where he secured a tract of government land. He proved up on the homestead and while thus working to gain title to the property was employed by Frank W. Foss. After securing title to his property he removed to Wheatland in order to enter upon the practice of law and has since given his attention to professional interests. He is well versed in the principles of jurisprudence and is seldom at fault in the application of such principles to the points in litigation. He always prepares his cases with great thoroughness and care and his clear reasoning, his sound argument and his logical deductions are important features in his growing success. After the organization of Platte county he became the first candidate for the position of county attorney, to which office he was elected. He was then again a candidate for the position and at the second time was defeated. By 1916, however, the county had come to realize that his service was most valuable and in 1916 he was again elected, so that he is now serving for the second term in that position.
On the 22d of July, 1914, Mr. Paige was united in marriage to Miss Dot E. Hastings and they have two sons, Robert E. and Charles Rich. The religious faith of the parents is that of the Methodist church, to the teachings of which they loyally adhere. Mr. Paige is identified with the Masonic fraternity, having taken the degrees of the blue lodge, and he is also connected with the Knights of Pythias. His political allegiance is given to the democratic party and he is a recognized leader in its local ranks. It was upon that ticket that he was elected to his present position and he is making a most creditable record by the prompt and faithful manner in which he is discharging his duties in safeguarding the legal interests of Platte county.
