ANGELO MAGAGNA.
Angelo Magagna, one of the proprietors of the Western Meat Market at Superior, was born June 1, 1893, at Braz, in the Tyrol of Austria. His father, Valentine Magagna, is also a native of Austria, where he follows farming. He married Katherine Menkiney, who still makes her home in Austria. They had a family of thirteen children, six of whom are yet living.
Angelo Magagna was the twelfth in order of birth and pursued his education in the schools of his native country. When a youth of sixteen he was apprenticed to learn the baker’s trade and gained a comprehensive knowledge of the business. He came to America in 1910, in the hope of having better business opportunities on this side of the Atlantic, and made his way direct to Superior, Wyoming, where he worked at the baker’s trade for a year. He then took up the butchering business, serving an apprenticeship under Frank Menkiney, and in 1915, after five years spent in the employ of others, he was admitted to a partnership in the business and is now associated with Mr. Menkiney in the ownership and conduct of the Western Meat Market. He is thoroughly trained for the duties that devolve upon him and is an expert meat cutter and an able judge of the value of meat. The market at Superior is well equipped and an excellent line of meats is handled.
Mr. Magagna was married on the 25th of November, 1916, in Superior, to Miss Sylvia Ranzi, who was born at Rock Springs, Wyoming, a daughter of Max and Caroline Ranzi, who were early pioneers of Wyoming and now reside in Superior. Mr. and Mrs. Magagna have one son, Arthur, who was born in Superior. September 2, 1917.
Mr. Magagna belongs to the Andreas Hofer Society and to the Tyrolean Lodge at Rock Springs. In politics he maintains an independent course, never caring to ally himself with any party. His success in business is due to his own efforts. Dependent upon his industry and determination from the age of sixteen years, he has never been afraid of work and his diligence and perseverance have been salient features in his growing success.
