HON. ALFRED H. COBB.
Hon. Alfred H. Cobb, a forceful and able attorney practicing at Casper, was born on the 8th of August, 1859, in Beloit, Wisconsin, his parents being Stephen A. and Sophia (Allis) Cobb. He began his education as a public school pupil in Wyandotte county, Kansas, and afterward became a student in the Kansas State University at Lawrence, where he pursued his studies in 1879. He then matriculated in the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, where he was graduated with the LL. B. degree as a member of the class of 1882. He entered upon the practice of law in Kansas City, Kansas, where he continued from 1882 until 1906, and in 1891 he compiled the ordinances of Kansas City, Kansas. In 1906 Mr. Cobb removed to Wyoming, settling in Casper, where he has since continued in the general practice of law, and his recognized ability in this direction has won him a liberal clientage. The thoroughness with which he prepares his cases, the strength of his arguments and the logic of his deductions are factors which have won for him substantial success as a practitioner at the bar. He also has other important interests, being now vice president and manager of the Big Indian Oil & Gas Company, also of the Central Natrona Oil Company of London, England, and a representative of the National Surety Company.
Identified with public interests in large measure, Mr. Cobb has been city attorney and councillor of Kansas City, Kansas, where he served from 1884 until 1892. He was county attorney of Wyandotte county, Kansas, from 1892 until 1896. He belongs to the Knights of Pythias, the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and is also identified with the Industrial Club. In Wyoming his worth has been recognized and he has been called to many positions of public trust.
