IMMANUEL BAPTIST CHURCH, S.B.C. Immanuel Baptist Church began as a Bible study fellowship in the home of Paul Bingham on Orchard Drive in 1970. A tent revival and Vacation Bible School were held during the summer of 1970. Jerry Hayner and a group of people from Beaver Dam Baptist Chruch in Knoxville, Tennessee held the services. The congregation was then organized into a chapel that fall and was sponsored by Temple Baptist Church, Moundsville. The War Memorial Building was the first meeting place for Immanuel Baptist Chapel. Mike Minear, a college student from Parkersburg, was the first pastor. Then an acre of land was purchased on the corner of Meadow and Paddock Green Drives in Steelton. In 1971 Floyd Tidsworth, then area missionary for Southern Baptists, became pastor. He was soon followed by Buddy Beam, a US-2 missionary who operated a bookmobile ministry. A mobile chapel was made from a mobile home that was purchased and used as a place of worship until 1973. A building was built in the summer of 1973 with the help of Builders for Christ, who came from three different states. About 70 people helped with this venture. In June of 1974 DavId Kaczmarski became the Chapel’s first full-time pastor. In April, 1975 the chapel constituted into a church and is presently working in cooperation with the Upper Ohio Valley Association of Southern Baptists, The W.Va Convention of Southern Baptists, and the Southern Baptist Convention. The church presently has 57 resident members with worship attendance in the sixties.
