His parentes are supposed to be Edward & Susanna Webster BILLUPS. Samuel & Sarah had at least 10 children, the oldest was Richard Allen BILLUPS who married Huldah W. MOORE. Richard & Huldah lived in the Wayne county area for many years and raised at least 15 children. One of the youngest sons was George Washington BILLUPS who married Dora WORKMAN about 1890. I am looking for the parents of my grandfather, John (C.?) Martin whose dates I have given are a guess. First Patrick Napier married Elizabeth Booth before 1642 - their children Frances (no info.) & Robert who married Mary Perrin - etc. Thomas Franklin Napier married Haney (or Hannah Smith) Their marriage recorded in Kanawha County, Charleston, W.Va. 1800. Haney (Hannah) Smith was sister to Margaret Smith who married Valentine Bloss, who settled in area of Dickson, Wayne County shortly after 1800 possibly from Culpepper or Chesterfield Va. area. Haney or Hannah Smith, wife of Thomas Franklin Napier died 1862. Haney (Hannah) and Thomas Franklin Napier children Haney born about 1800 m. Covington Ross 7-31-1835 died. 3-5-1856; Margaret "Peggy" married (1) Skelton Bradshaw (2) --------Grant; Edmond, b. 1803 married Ella Mitchell; Moses Franklin, b. 11-2-1807, Wayne Co., married Vicie Adkins; Patrick Hughes Napier, born 1810, Wayne Co., died. 4-14-1874, m. (1) --------Skidmore (2) Perlina Watts; William, b. 8-3-1812, Wayne Co. married Nancy Queen; Robert, born 5-6-1824 died 8-1-1903 married Polly Osburn; Adam born 1-25-1826, Wayne Co., married Susan Finley; Hannah T&H child named after her mother, married Isaac Lambert; Sally married _______Fuller. Thomas Franklin Napier was a pioneer educator said to be subscription as well as "free" school teacher. He taught in Wayne County for 40 years. Thomas & Hannah settled on Twelve Pole Creek near mouth of Cove Creek. Son Robert served a term in the State Legislature in 1889. Grandson Patrick Henry Napier, son of Patrick, was a circuit judge for many years. I would so appreciate help in this - I have been searching for 20-plus years (albeit in fits and starts) Now that Ive turned the magic age of 60 am anxious to get this settled.

I'm searching for the family of Harvey Moore b. 1824 KY, m. Nancy Thompson, m. 8-28-1850 Lawrence Co KY. Nancy's line descends from the Thompsons who settled in Lawrence County Ky. Nancy - Jeremaih - Samuel - Richard - John. The tax books for Lawrence Co Ky, of 1852 show him owning land on the Little Blain. I have seen that a number of Thompsons also owned land on or near the Little Blain. The 1850 Census shows him living with the family of David Moore age 26 and his wife Lucinda. David may have been a brother. On the Census the family following David's is John Moore age 24, his wife listed is Katherine. Any help greatly appreciated.

DAVIS, HENSLEY
Jude from Ohio with the long query Wed, 11 Feb 1998 00:12:14
I am investigating a connection between Kentucky and Maryland for my DAVIS ancestors. The 1850 census records for both Lawrence & Johnson counties in KY identified certain individuals with the DAVIS surname who were born in Maryland. Specifically, the 1850 Lawrence county census identified William DAVIS born 1770 in MD with wife Nancy (maiden name unknown) born 1797 in VA. In close proximity to William, the census identified Samuel DAVIS born 1784 in MD with wife Lucretia (surname possibly STEPHENSON?) born 1794 in VA. The census also shows Samuels nearest neighbor was Henry DAVIS born 1786 in VA with wife Rachel (maiden name unknown) born 1789 in SC. In neighboring Johnson county, the 1850 census identified Joseph DAVIS born 1776 in MD with wife Elizabeth (BORDERS) born 1800 in VA. I believe William, Samuel, Henry & Joseph were brothers. William may have been married several times. His last marriage was to Sarah HENSLEY. The marriage record in Lawrence county shows William was age 90 and Sarah was age 66 when they married on March 6, 1860. William is later identified with his wife Sarah on the 1860 Johnson County census. I believe another wife may have been named Mary (maiden name unknown). I also found in the vital statistics of Lawrence county a death record showing Samuel DAVIS died on July 11, 1857 at age 72. His parents were listed as William & Mary DAVIS. If William, Henry & Joseph were Samuels brothers, then William & Mary DAVIS may have also been the parents of William, Henry & Joseph as well. If you or anyone have any connections to this family and can offer any information or suggestions whatsoever, it would be extremely appreciated. Thank you.
