Isaac Family Cemetery information, Wayne County West Virginia
The Isaac Family Cemetery,
Flatbranch Mill Creek Road, Fort Gay, Wayne County, West Virginia

Information submitted by Carolyn Adkins, great-granddaughter of Ben Martin Isaac

Family members state that Benjamin Martin Isaac owned the land that this Cemetery was started on and that his son Joseph was the first to be interred there in 1886. Although records don't show the burial of Ben, he is interred here. My mother once showed me that to the left of Joseph is a grave, that of her Grandfather ( Benjamin Martin Isaac). I'm not sure of the burial site for Rutha, but I do know there was a Cemetery on the left fork of Mill Creek Road, and Mom believes she is buried there.

The Isaac Family Cemetery is about one-eighth of a mile from the old homestead that was being lived in in 1975. The floors are of dirt, and it may no longer be standing (as of 2006). Ben bought the property in 1886 when he and Rutha were first wed. After Rutha's death in 1875 he remarried a younger woman named Minta Francis Cook. Ben died in 1897.
