Darrell P. Cable
Darrell Phillip Cable, 43, of HC 36, Box 276A, Tallmansville, died Thursday,
June 12, 2003, at his home.
He was born July 28, 1959, in Lexington, Ky., a son of Robert and Chulita D.
Cable of Buckhannon, and Betty Upchurch Cable of Muncie, Inc.
On Oct. 1, 1989, he married Sheila Rena Russell Cable, who survives in
Tallmansville.
Also surviving are one son, Aaron Phillip Cable, Tallmansville; one daughter,
Sheena Racquel Cable, Tallmansville; four brothers, Robert Cable and wife, Jill
J., Buckhannon, Kenneth Cable and wife, Brenda W., Charlotte, N.C., Christopher
Cable and wife, Vonda, Elkins, and Tracy Eugene Cable, Bridgeport; two sisters,
Teresa Martin and husband, Paul, New York, and Angela Murphy and husband, Tim,
Fairmont; paternal grandmother, Margaret Cable, Zachariah, Ky.; one stepbrother,
Thomas Bush, Indiana; two stepsisters, Charlotte Bush and Laura Baker, both of
Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Joseph Cable.
He worked for 84 Lumber. He was a trustee of Cutright Chapel and a member of
Franklin Lodge 7 AF & AM. He was a member of Cutright Chapel.
Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home today from 4 p.m. to 9
p.m. On Sunday, he will be moved to Cutright Chapel, where friends may call from
1 p.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Bradley Tenney and the Rev. Don
Butcher will officiate. Interment will follow in Cutright Chapel Cemetery in
Queens. Gravesite rites will be performed by Franklin Lodge No. 7 AF & AM.

William D. Cain
William Dale Cain, 69, a retired U.S. Army sergeant major, died Thursday, Oct.
16, 2003, at Potomac Hospital in Woodbridge, Va.
Bill, as he was known to his friends, was born Nov. 12, 1933, in Elkins and
graduated from Elkins High School.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.
He was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Woodbridge.
Bill served 30 years with the Army, and during that time was stationed in
Germany, France and Panama. He served in Korea and Vietnam.
He and his wife, Joyce V. Cain, moved to their home n Marumsco Woods in 1964
where they raised their family.
After serving in the Army, Bill worked for a Navy contractor for 20 years before
retiring to a life of enjoyable weekends at the family cabin in Martinsburg.
Bill also loved to spend time gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joyce Vanscoy Cain; one son, David Cain
of Stafford, Va.; two daughters, Shelley C. Palkovic of Martinsburg and Kelley
Powers of Largo, Fla.
Bill had seven beloved grandchildren, triplets Bethany, Megan and Ryan Morris,
Connor Palkovic, and Ashley, Brittany and Brandon Cain.
Military graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Quantico National
Cemetery in Quantico, Va. with Chaplain Edward C. Leis officiating. Memorial
contributions may be made in Bill’s name to Hospice of Northern Virginia,
Prince William Clinical Office, 9540 Center St., Suite 330, Manassas, Va.

Dwight J. Calain
Dwight Jefferson “Jeff” Calain, 54, a former resident of Bowden, until
he moved to Orlando, Fla., in 1996 and returned in 2000 due to his illness,
passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at Nella’s Nursing Home, where he had been
a resident since November 2002. Death was attributed to cancer.
He was born Nov. 10, 1948, in Harman, a son of Ethel Waldon Calain, who survives
in Bowden, and the late Russell H. Calain.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by one son, Scott Jefferson Calain of
Orlando, Fla.; a special friend, Debra Vanscoy of Orlando, Fla.; one brother,
Russell W. Calain of Windham, Ohio. Also surviving are several cousins, one
niece, Kimberly Ann Calain of Newton Falls, Ohio; one nephew, James William
Calain of Windham, Ohio; and one great-nephew, Kobe Lee Calain of Newton Falls,
Ohio.
He was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1966. He then was
drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was honorably
discharged and returned to Bowden and enrolled in Davis & Elkins College,
where he graduated with a degree in environmental science.
He moved to Orlando, Fla., where he was an electrician, plumber and worked on
air conditioners.
Returning to Bowden, he was self-employed as a brick layer, operated jackhammers
and was a stone mason, and had several other talents. He was a well-known person
and was always helping other people.
At the request of the deceased the remains will be cremated. A memorial service
will be held at a later date and will be announced at that time. The F.E. Runner

Dwight Jefferson “Jeff” Calain, 54, a resident of Bowden, passed away
Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at Nella’s Nursing Home where he had been a patient
since November 2002.

Odbert McCoy “Tuffy” Calain, 71, of North Avenue, Elkins, departed this life
early Monday morning, Aug. 25, 2003, at his home. He had been in declining
health since 1994.
He was born Sunday, Sept. 20, 1931, at Green Bank, the son of the late Charles
Forest Calain and Lucille Friel Calain Ward, who survives in Elkins.
On Dec. 25, 1951, he was married to the former Othel Novella Gladden, who
survives. They celebrated 52 year of marriage.
Also surviving are four daughters and one son, Lois Marie Kitzmiller and
husband, Robert, of Buckhannon, Debra Lynn Bestland and husband, Greg, of
Buffalo, Minn., Belinda Gay “Binky” Coberly and husband, Mike, of Elkins,
Jeffrey Kerth Calain of Woodbury Minn., and Anita Rae Wright and husband, James,
of Durham, N.C.; two brothers, James C. Calain and wife, Helen, of Deep Creek
Lake, Md., and John F. Calain and wife, Mary, of Little River, S.C.; four
sisters, Darlene Powell and husband, Stanley, of Akron, Ohio, Mildred L. Elmore
and husband, Gene, of Farmington, Ohio, Barbara Brown and husband, Thomas, of
Elkins, and Linda Crosston and husband, Donald, of Elkins; 15 grandchildren;
four great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Preceding him in death besides his father were one grandson, Samuel Levitt
Kitzmiller; and one brother, Robert Calain.
“Tuffy” attended the schools of Spruce, Green Bank and Junior, and was a
graduate of Belington High School in the class of 1949. He attended Davis &
Elkins College and Morris Harvey College.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and served as a
staff sergeant.
He worked for the C.C. Keys Co., the Tygarts Valley Cable Co. and TCI Cable Co.
He was a former member of the Randolph County Historical Society and was a
member of the First Baptist Church in Elkins where he served on the Deacon Board
and as sound coordinator until his illness.
The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church from 6 p.m. to 9
p.m. Wednesday. Final rites will be conducted at the church at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Mayberry Calhoun
Mayberry Calhoun, 92, a resident of Hodgesville community, Buckhannon,
departed this life at 7:50 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2003, at his residence
following an extended illness.
He was born June 6, 1911, in Pocahontas County, a son of the late Adam and Viola
(Lambert) Calhoun.
He was twice married, first to the former Florence Overfield and second to the
former Rita Strader, both of whom preceded him in death.
Surviving are five sons and daughters-in-law, Simpson and wife, Norma,
Leavittsburg, Ohio, Scott and wife, Betty, Cortland, Ohio, Ralph and wife,
Barbara, Hodgesville, Delane and wife, Susie, Lordstown, Ohio, and Carl and
wife, Sandra, Leavittsburg, Ohio; one daughter and son-in-law, Viola and
husband, Dennis Marlowe, Warren, Ohio; one sister, Flodia Calhoun Auvil, Quiet
Dell; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and three
great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Paul Calhoun; seven brothers and four
sisters.
He retired from Peerless Electric in Warren, Ohio. He enjoyed traveling and many
hobbies. He was a United Methodist by faith.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi,
after 4 p.m. Saturday. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in
the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating. Interment will

Clemoth J. Call
Clemoth Joe Call, 66, a resident of Elkins, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2003,
at his home.
He was born Dec. 13, 1936, in Putnam County, a son of Virginia Call Tucker of
Lancaster, Ohio, and the late Grover Cleveland Call.
He was married Nov. 28, 1986, at Giles, Va., to Nancy Ann Flint Call, who
survives.
Also surviving are one son, Bobby Joe Call of Fairborn, Ohio; two stepsons, Paul
Aleshire of Whitman and James Aleshire of New Carlisle, Ohio; one daughter,
Carolyn Sue Pate of Tampa, Fla.; and one stepdaughter, Wendy Lukacs of Whitman.
One brother, Ray C. Call of Lancaster, Ohio, also survives.
Mr. Call was a truck driver for Coastal Tank Lines prior to his retirement. He
attended the Elkins Church of God and Family Worship Center and was a member of
Elkins Lodge No. 108 AF & AM.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman and storyteller.

Janice Emma “Janie” Campbell, 89, of 17 Three Lick Road., Buckhannon,
died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at Nella’s Nursing Home in Crystal Springs.
She was born Jan. 20, 1914, in Ellamore, a daughter of the late Lloyd E. and
Mary Alice Pratt Lewis.
On Feb. 16, 1930, she married Elmer “Kelly” Campbell, who preceded her in
death on July 25, 1992.
Surviving are two daughters, Irene Linger, Locust Grove, Va., and Mary Sutton,
Buckhannon; one sister, Mardell Nichols, Spartansburg, Pa.; one brother-in-law,
the Rev. Carus Campbell, Buckhannon; 12 grandchildren and 31
great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Kennedy; four sisters, Ruby Harr,
Carrie Bell, Mary Ware and Vernetta Ware; four brothers, Elson Lewis, Freddie
Lewis, Sam Lewis and John Burton Lewis; and one grandson, Matthew Linger.
She was a seamstress for Reidboard Brothers. She was a charter member of the
First United Brethren in Christ.

Harold B. Campbell
Harold B. Campbell, 93, of Hall Road, Buckhannon, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003,
in Lynchburg, Va.
He was born April 24, 1910, in Buckhannon, the son of the late Thomas Campbell
and Ethel Kesling Campbell Forinash.
On July 4, 1930, he married Nona G. Campbell, who preceded him in death on April
23, 2002.
Surviving are one daughter, Jo Ann West of Monroe, Va.; two sons, Marvin
Campbell of Plymouth, N.C., and Eugene Campbell of Cincinnati, Ohio; 15
grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one
sister, Cosby Messenger of Pittsburgh, Pa.
He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Campbell.
He was a papermaker and a member of the Buckhannon Church of the Nazarene.

Viola Campbell
Viola Campbell, 82, a resident of Elkins and a patient in Nella’s Nursing
Home, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2003, in the nursing home.
She was born Nov. 15, 1920, in Randolph County, the daughter of the late Lloyd
and Stella Folks Paugh.
On Nov. 7, 1952, she was married to John D. Campbell, who preceded her in death
on Sept. 21, 1999.
Surviving are two sisters, Edith Hudson of Alabama and Sylvia Quinton of
Virginia. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers and four sisters.
Mrs. Campbell wasa homemaker and was employed by Montgomery Ward for many years.
She was Methodist by faith.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Elkins Memorial Gardens.
The Rev. Donald Lockhart will officiate and interment will follow. The Tomblyn
Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Viola Campbell.

George R. Canfield
George Robert Canfield, 73, a resident of 311 Goff St., Elkins, passed away at
10:26 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003, in the Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte,
N.C., following an extended illness.
He was born July 17, 1930, in Fredericktown, Pa., the son of the late George
Washington and Effie Mae Tanzey Canfield.
He was married to Frances Jeanette Canfield, who survives in Elkins.
Also surviving are one son, Rocky Canfield, Charlotte, N.C.; three daughters,
Diana Hamm, Murfreesboro, Tenn., Loreta Booth and Karen Gibson, both of
Belington; one sister, Jacquelyn Icanio, Las Vegas, Nev.; eight grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren .
Also preceding him in death was a sister.
Mr. Canfield was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a retired union plumber. He
was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 219, attended the
Gospel Light Tabernacle Church and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in

Doris Caplinger
Doris Eileen Shaver Caplinger, 77, of St. Albans, died Thursday, April 3,
2003, in Thomas Memorial Hospital from injuries received in an auto accident.
She was born Dec. 14, 1925, in Poplar, Ohio.
She retired from the AFL-CIO.
Surviving are three daughters, Carol O’Dell of Summersville, Kaye Widney of
Fairmont and Sue Ruebenstein of Cross Lanes; three sons, Kenneth Caplinger of
Scott Depot, David Caplinger of Dunmore and Michael Caplinger of Morgantown; one
brother, Robert Shaver of Hurricane; 13 grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Upper Mausoleum Chapel at
Cunningham Memorial Park in St. Albans with the Rev. Ron Crum officiating.

Gladys Cappadony
Gladys Jane Cappadony, 90, a resident of 337 Blaine Ave., a lifelong resident of
the Midland community and a patient in the Cortland Acres Nursing Home since
Sept. 15, passed away at 6:58 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, in the nursing home.
She was born June 20, 1913, at Cassity, a daughter of the late Frank Paul and
Zada Dell Phares Cappadony. She had never married.
Surviving is a brother, Arlan O. “Pete” Cappadony of Elkins; a niece, Mary
Helen Williams of San Antonio, Texas; and a nephew, Hugh Paul Lafayette of
Baltimore, Md.
Also preceding her in death were a brother, Paul Cappadony, and a sister, Helen
Lafayette.
Miss Cappadony attended the schools of Randolph County and the White Cross of
Beauty Culture in Cleveland. She was employed as a beautician for many years
prior to her retirement. She was a Presbyterian by faith.

Delbert Carder Sr.
Delbert “Buck” Carder Sr., 73, of Valley Bend, passed away at 3:21 a.m.
Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, in Davis Memorial Hospital.
Born June 6, 1930, in Lost Creek, he was the son of the late Andrew Carder and
Oma Harrison Carder.
On April 1, 1960, he was united in marriage to the former Leta Mae Swecker, who
survives in Valley Bend.
Also surviving are two daughters, Dotty Arbogast and husband, Danny, of El Paso,
Texas, and Debbie Brown and husband, Jerald, of Valley Head; one son, Bucky
Carder and wife, Mary, of Victoria, Texas; one sister, Jane Brown of Elkins; and
one brother, Jimmy Carder of Middlefield, Ohio.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Leigh Ann Watson of Elkins, Kayleen
Carder of Elkins, Brittney Arbogast and Ryan Arbogast, both of El Paso, Texas,
and Jerald “J.D.” Brown II of Valley Head; and two great-grandchildren,
Bryce Watson and Jeremiah Watson, both of Elkins.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were three sisters, Dorothy Bennett,
Mildred Tacy and Maxine Crawford; and one brother, Gilbert Carder.
Buck was formerly employed by Snowshoe as a security guard. Buck retired from
Phoenix Resources, and was an attendant at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home until
becoming ill.
Mr. Carder attended the Mingo Presbyterian Church. He was a Christian by faith.
Buck will be deeply missed by all those who knew him and will never be
forgotten.

Iva Luemain Carpenter, 86, of Route 2, French Creek, Alton Road, died Tuesday,

Strader Sines.
She was united in marriage on Oct. 4, 1931, to Olen Carpenter, who survives.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Otto and wife, Mamie
Carpenter, of French Creek; five daughters, Betty and husband, Pete Wayts, of
Buckhannon, Katherine and husband, Clay Hanline, of French Creek, Rosemary and
husband, Hubert Lee, of Amherst, Ohio, Fern Hoose of Bellevue, Ohio, and Linda
Cutright of French Creek; 31 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and 27
great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one grandson; one great-grandson; three brothers,
Emory, Noras and Berlin Sines; and two sisters, Roxie McKenzia and Lucy Gillum.
Mrs. Carpenter was a housewife, a lifetime member and past treasurer of the
Alton United Methodist Church and received a 20-year perfect attendance pin. She
was a member of the Alton Community Group, the Alton Community Education
Outreach Service and the Knights of Pythians Sisters.
Friends will be received at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel from 4
p.m. to 8 p.m. today. She will lie in state at the Alton United Methodist Church
Friday from noon to 1 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Sue Lowther will

Ethel Virginia “Peanut” Carr, 83, a resident of the Porterwood
community, near Parsons, departed this life early Sunday morning, Jan. 18, 2003,
in her sleep. Death was attributed to cardiac arrest.
She was born July 7, 1919, at Davis, a daughter of the late John E. Waybright
and Sophia Clayton Waybright.
On Oct. 5, 1940, at Oakland, Md., she was married to Vincent A. Carr, who
preceded her in death on July 26, 2001.
Surviving are two sons, Keith W. Carr and wife, Janet, Elkins, and Jerry Kent
Carr and wife, Marilyn, Lebanon, Tenn.; one daughter, Carol L. Sherman and
husband, the Rev. Carl Sherman, Pineville, N.C.; two brothers, Virgil L.
“Pete” Waybright, Elkins, and Edgar R. “Bud” Waybright and wife, Wanda,
Buckhannon; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are four brothers, Burl, Guy, Clifton and James Waybright;
and three sisters, Jesse Sue Hottle, Martha Hedrick and Edna Bodkin.
She attended the one-room school at Riverview. She was head cook and custodian
at the Porterwood School. She was a cook for the former Tucker County Hospital.
She was an employee of the former Dorman Mills and Parsons Shoe Plant. She was a
member of the Parsons Church of the Nazarene.

Lorraine Murriel Carr, 73, of Washington, D.C., passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 25, 1929, in Thomas, a daughter of the late Delbert Howell Carr and Louiessa Carr.
She is survived by a brother, Shirley W. Carr, Virginia Beach, Va.; and a sister, Rose Marie Carr, Oakland, Md.

Ms. Carr graduated with the Thomas High School Class of 1947 and graduated from the Secretarial School of Cumberland, Md. She worked in the personnel department for the Department of Energy.

Pansy Ellen Carr, 89, of Hendricks, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, at
Cortland Acres Nursing Home.
She was born Dec. 9, 1913, in Hendricks, the daughter of the late Luther Bright
and Clara Bell Carr.
On May 26, 1934, she married Tinnis Lee Carr, who preceded her in death in 1977.
She is survived by four sons, Doral L. Carr, Danny R. Carr and Hoye Lynn Carr,
all of Parsons, and Philip M. Carr of Elkins; two daughters, Carol Ann Simmons
and Zetta Jean Fansler, both of Hambleton; 12 grandchildren, Gary Lee Carr,
Curtis Dean Carr, Ricky Lynn Simmons, Jeffrey Lloyd Simmons, Stacy Scott Carr,
Stephanie Susan Burns, Randall Allen Fansler, Gregory Shawn Fansler, Joshua Todd
Carr, Adam Michael Carr, Clarissa Lynn Carr and Eli Anderson Carr; and nine
great-grandchildren, Graci Erin Carr, Kimberly Lynn Showalter, Ricky Lynn
Simmons Jr., Jeffrey L. Simmons, Katie Simmons, Emily Spring Carr, Elizabeth

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Buddy and Hoye Bright; and one

Leota Mearl Thomas Carrico, 97, a resident of Parsons, departed this life
Saturday afternoon, May 3, 2003, at the Tucker Community Care Center at Parsons.
She was born Feb. 4, 1906, at Location, St. George, the daughter of the late
Edward James Thomas and Rachel Dona Bohon.
In May 1926 at St. George, she was married to Ernest Carrico, who preceded her
in death on July 20, 1981.
Surviving are one son, Calvin C. Carrico and wife, Betty, Michigan; five
daughters, Opal Gertrude Bishop, Parsons, Dona Gladys Shoemaker and husband, H.
Glenn, of Virginia, Ollie P. Bible and husband, Carl, Hazel Pauline Karl and
husband, Stanley, Betty Jean Clelland and husband, Albert, all of Michigan; 19
grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was preceded in
death by two brothers, Everett and Howard Thomas; one infant sister and one
infant granddaughter, Arlene.

Roxie Ellen Carson, 88, of Elkins, formerly of Reedy, died Tuesday, April 8,
2003, at Nella’s Inc. in Elkins after an extended illness. She also lived in
Buckhannon for 10 years before moving to Elkins.
She was born Dec. 18, 1914, in Roane County, a daughter of the late James Monroe
and Geneva Coen Cottrell.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Reedy United Methodist Church, where she
was a Sunday school teacher for awhile.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Kitty Carson of
Buckhannon; one grandson and his wife, Todd and Beth Carson, also of Buckhannon;
one sister, Delphia Westfall of Wellsburg; and two great-grandsons, James Brian
and Matthew Ward Carson, also of Buckhannon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Ward Carson in July 1999; two
sisters, Opal Paugh and Mattie Fouty; and four brothers, Luard, Ed, Charlie and
Foster Cottrell.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer
with Pastor John Ellison officiating. Burial will be in the Board Cemetery,

Susan Casada, 38, of 4 Novell Drive, Buckhannon, died Wednesday, Dec. 17,
2003, at her home.
She was born April 13, 1965, in Denver, Colo., the daughter of the late Terry
Beeson and Audrey Moore Beeson, who survives in Buckhannon.
On May 7, 1982, she married Victor Casada, who preceded her in death on Oct. 5,
1997.
Surviving are one daughter, Stephanie Casada of Buckhannon; two sons, Victor
Casada Jr. and Joshua David Casada, both of Buckhannon; two sisters, Audrey
Goins of Buckhannon and Brenda Beeson of Kingsport, Tenn.; two brothers, Terry

He was born Oct. 31, 1929, in Philippi, a son of the late Hersel V. and Gladys
Virginia Casto.
He was united in marriage on Dec. 19, 1969, to Betty L. Casto, who survives.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Linda A. and husband, Michael
Losquadro, of Philippi; one stepdaughter, Sandra L. Kelley of Steubenville,
Ohio; one stepson, Jeffrey G. Kelley of Elkins; two sisters and one

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Charlotte Booth, Kay Smith and Mary

He retired from Island Creek Coal Mines in Bayard as a coal miner. He was a
member of the AF & AM Lodge 108 of Elkins. He was a Protestant by faith.

Philip K. Casto Jr., 54, of Route 3, Buckhannon, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003,
at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
He was born Oct. 12, 1949, in Buckhannon, the son of the late Philip K. Casto
and Mabel V. Hosaflook Casto, who survives at Route 3, Buckhannon.
He was united in marriage in August 1972 to Shirley L. Siron Casto, who
survives.
In addition to his mother and his wife, he is also survived by one son, K.C.
Casto of Charleston; one stepson, Eric Rexroad of Martinsburg; one stepdaughter,
Sheri Zalaznik of Kansas City, Mo.; five grandchildren; one sister, Lee Zannino
of Clarksburg; and three nieces.
Mr. Casto was a member of the Buckhannon Moose Lodge No. 598.

Cleo “Glee” Cave, 86, a former resident of Valley Head and a patient in
the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, passed away at 12:40 a.m. Thursday,
March 6, 2003, at the center.
She was born June 16, 1916, at Jenningston, a daughter of the late Cam and
Gettie Mae Carr Wilfong.
On Oct. 5, 1934, she was married to Clyde Cave, who preceded her in death on
Oct. 20, 1973.
She is survived by two sons, Clyde “Gene” Cave of Elkins and Charles
“Chuck” Cave of Dailey; and two daughters, Charlene L. Smith of Elkins and
Carolyn L. Triber of Beverly. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 13
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Also preceding her in death were two sons, Clarence and Carlin Cave; one
daughter, Catherine Cave, three brothers, Howard, Russell and James Wilfong; and

Blanche Katherine Chamberlain, 96, a former resident of 94 Ward Road and of Dailey, where she made her home with her niece, Arra
Currence, and a resident of Nella’s since April 13, 1997, passed away Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at 10 p.m. at Davis Memorial Hospital emergency room. She had been in failing health; however, her condition had declined in the past year.
She was born Aug. 21, 1906, in Middlefork, a daughter of the late Otha Lee and Ellen Markley Herron.
On Feb. 17, 1927, she was united in marriage to Joseph Chamberlain, who preceded her in death in March 1957.
Surviving are two sisters, Bertha Currance, a resident of Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, and Stella Cogar of Elkins; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband were seven sisters, Vallie
Shiflett, Florence Tenny, Elva Barkley, Nellie Wegman, Alta Cogar, Lori Currence and infant Martha Herron; and two brothers, Russell Herron and Ezra Herron.
She was a homemaker. Her favorite pastime was handsewing and she was well known for helping her neighbors in any way she could. She attended Mill Creek Memorial Mission Church.

Christopher Michael Channell, 45, of Route 1, Huttonsville, the Becky’s Creek
community, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003. His death was
unexpected.
He was the foster son of John and Charlotte Pingley of Huttonsville.
He was born Feb. 9, 1958, in Elkins, the son of Addie Mae Currence of Mill Creek
and the late Blaine Channell.
On Aug. 13, 1999, in Monterey, Va., he was married to the former Diane Denise
Shannon, who survives at Huttonsville.
He is also survived by one son, John David Channell, at home; one daughter,
Cassandra Dawn Channell of Huttonsville; two brothers, Dennis and Gail Channell;
four sisters, Francine Tingler, Elaine Channell, Judith Snyder and Rebecca
Arbogast; a foster sister, Chryl Mills; and several nieces and nephews.
Christopher was employed as a coal miner for Anker Energy and was an avid
farmer.

and David Allen Channell, Parsons; one daughter, Martha "Becky"
Lipscomb and husband, William Donald, Thomas; four grandchildren, Christopher,
Andrew and April Caldwell and Adam Channell; one great-granddaughter, Tiffanie
Caldwell; and his special friend, Babe.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been preceded
in death by six brothers, Orland, Hayward, Eddie, Freddie, Robert and Richard;
and one sister, Sarah Ellen Everly.
He attended the one-room school at Shaver’s Fork and served with the U.S.
Marine Corps during World War II. He was a farmer, an employee of the former
Parsons Tannery for 23 years until its closing, and an employee of the former
Parsons Shoe Plant for 22 years. He was also a member of the American Legion
Post 71, Oakland, Md.

On May 2, 1929, at Elkins, she was married to Dorfice Andrew Channell, who
preceded her in death June 30, 2001.
Surviving her are seven sons, Andrew Channell and wife, Lovie, Orland Park,
Ill., Denzil Channell and wife, Janet, Troy, Maine, Don Channell and wife,
Natalie, and Robert Channell and wife, Rosalie, all of Parksley, Va., Gerald
Channell and wife, Rhonda, Valley Head, Stephen Channell and wife, Faye, Elkins,
and Randall Channell and wife, Chris, Mentor, Ohio; seven daughters, Helen
Warner, Franklin, Mrs. Arvil (Ruth) Burris, Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Jonathan (Evelyn)
Kronk, Sarasota, Fla., Mrs. Oscar (Deloris) Masiers, Snellville, Ga., Mrs.
Alfred (Sandy) Sheats, Bear, Del., Mrs. David (Linda) Hamrick and Debbie
Channell, all of Valley Head; 47 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren, six
great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Ida
Bodkins, Myrtie Hinkle and Vista Sponaugle; seven brothers, Nathan, Ed, Herbert,
Teddy, Fred, Willie and Baxter Bodkins; two grandsons, Gary Warner and Jimmy
Burris; and one great-granddaughter, Cheyenne Brooke Hamrick. She was the last
surviving member of her immediate family.
She attended the schools of Randolph County. As a homemaker, she was a devoted
wife, mother and grandmother, and was a Methodist by faith.
Friends will be received at the Valley Head United Methodist Church on Friday
from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Final Rites will be conducted on Saturday at 11 a.m. at

Kermit Channell
Kermit “Brooks” Channell, 77, a resident of 211 Red Oak Lane, Elkins, passed
away Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, at 7:15 p.m. in the Davis Memorial Hospital where
he had been a patient since Oct. 15. He had been in his usual health and death
was unexpected.
Born March 20, 1916, at Valley Head, he was the son of the late Major and Myrtle
Lambert Channell.
On Oct. 12, 1945, he was united in marriage to the former Elaine Forinash, who
survives in Elkins. They had just celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on
Oct. 12.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Carol Lynn Cox and
husband, Harold, of Tryon, N.C., Roberta “Bobbie Jay” Bergren and husband,
John, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and Kathi Gayle People and husband, Gregg, of
Greensboro, N.C.; one son, Kermit “Brooks” Channell II and wife, Lisa, of
Benton, Ark.; three sisters, Dorothy “Dottie” Daniels and husband, Bob, of
Elkins, Dorene “Dodie” Ankrum and husband, Kurt, of Colonial Heights, Va.,
and Merry “Janie” Darling and husband, David, of Elkins; and one brother,
Kenneth “Kenny” Channell and wife, Doris, of Chesapeake, Va.
Also surviving are nine grandsons, Daniel Cox, Stephen Cox, Nathan Cox, Erik
Bergren, Adam Bergren, Ryan Bergren, Brooks Channell, Benjamin Channell and
Grant Channell; two granddaughters, Elaina Peoples and Sydney Channell; one
great-grandson, Shawn Cox; an aunt, Norma Boserman and husband, Bob, of Elkins;
and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death besides his parents was a brother, Kemper Channell; a
granddaughter, Jessica Channell; and a daughter-in-law, Susan Channell.
Brooks received his B.S. degree in engineering from William and Mary College in
Virginia.
He was employed by AT&T Corp. as an electronic engineer with the National
Defense Program, retiring in 1989 with 33 years of service. Brooks loved
camping, traveling and always kept busy doing something. He was a member of the
H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion and the Southern Baptist Church in
Arkansas.
Above all, Brooks was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend
and will be greatly missed by all.
He was a veteran and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Friends will be received at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel after 7 p.m.
Sunday. On Monday, Brooks will be moved to the Valley Head United Methodist
Church for visitation from noon until 1 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. William
“Bill” Sullivan, a retired Methodist minister, will officiate. Interment
will follow in the Valley Head Cemetery at Valley Head. The Tygart Valley Post
3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars and H.W. Daniels Post 29 will conduct full
military services at the grave site.

Olan V. Channell, 78, of Lima, departed this life Sunday, May 15, 2003, at
his residence.
He was born at Valley Head, a son of the late John D. and Mabel Swecker Channell.
He was employed in the coal mines for 10 years, in auto body repair shops for 11
years and retired from Eureka Pipeline Co. with 23 years of service. He was a
member of the Indian Creek Southern Baptist Church in Alma.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Olan Dewayne
Channell, in 1988; and four brothers, Charles, Donald, Estill and Troy Channell.
He is survived by his wife, Rosa Corrigan Channell; a son, Timothy at home; one
daughter, Linda Simons of Stephens City, Va.; three brothers, Denver, Drainer
and Ted Channell, all of Valley Head; three grandchildren, Steven Simons of
Manassas, Va., Sheri Washington of Stephens City, Va., and Cassie Channell of
Shirley.
Also surviving are several great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Indian Southern Baptist Church, Alma, with Pastor Bobby
Thomas officiating. Interment followed in Victory Cemetery at Alma.

Lanze Paul Charles, 72, of Route 1, Belington, died Monday morning, Sept. 8,
2003, in Davis Memorial Hospital following an unexpected illness.
He was born Sept. 9, 1930, at Pikeville, Ky., the son of the late Glover and
Alpha Pinson Charles.
On March 6, 1957, he was married to the former Catherine J. Delauder, who
survives at Route 1, Belington.
Also surviving are four daughters, Cathy Hardman and husband, Tom, of Raleigh,
N.C., Leorra “Gail” Jones and husband, David, of Canton, Ohio, Crystal L.
Elmore and husband, Curtis R., of Coalton, and Donna M. Jones and husband,
Kevin, of Belington; two sons, Paul Charles and wife, Debbie A., of Belington,
and Russell Charles and wife, Gina, of Canton, Ohio; one brother, Russell
Charles, and one sister, Sylvia Gay Helton, both of Silver Lake, Ind.; nine
grandchildren and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
Mr. Charles retired from the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources as a
park attendant at Audra State Park. Although he did not attend a particular
church, he followed the tenets of the Church of Christ.

Paul Edwin Chase, 89, of Route 4, Box 577C, Buckhannon, died Thursday, Jan.
16, 2003, at 10 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Cindy Long of Kesling Mill.
He was born Aug. 28, 1913, in Glady, a son of the late Adam Milton and Hattie
Rachel Grogg Chase.
On Dec. 23, 1949, he married Thelma May Lantz Chase, who preceded him in death
on Aug. 23, 1992.
Surviving are one son, Edwin Chase, Buckhannon; three daughters, Faye Hart,
Saudi Arabi, Cindy Long, Kesling Mill, and Jane Austinson, California; one
sister, Dorothy Torre, California; one grandson, Jamie Hart, Austin, Texas; one
granddaughter, Melanie Moreno, Florida; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Neal Ketterman; and three brothers,
James Chase, Hayward Chase and Forrest Chase.
Mr. Chase was a retired coal miner and a member of the United Mine Workers of
America. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and was a medical
specialist in the U.S. Army during World War II. He participated in the D-Day
landing at Normandy and served until the end of the war. He was an avid trout
fisherman and a member of Buckhannon VFW Post 3663. He was a Protestant by
faith.
Graveside services will be at Heavner Cemetery at Buckhannon Monday at 11 a.m.
with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Interment will follow. Poling-St.

Wilbur K. Chavis, 66, of Route 9, Buckhannon, died Sunday, May 18, 2003, at
11:45 a.m. at his home in Buckhannon.
He was born April 5, 1937, in Swansea, S.C., a son of the late Tommy Lee and
Leila Chavis.
Surviving are three daughters, Cathy and Jim Wright, South Park, Pa., Carolyn
"Bunny Metz, Elizabeth, Pa., and Rebecca "Becky and Gary Stetar,
Elizabeth, Pa.; one brother, Harvey Chavis, Swansea, S.C.; two sisters, Leitha
Sturkie and Mary Ruth Jeffcoat, both of Swansea, S.C.; his first wife, Ruth
Sturms Chavis-Griffin, Elizabeth, Pa.; his best friend, Sheril Chavis,
Buckhannon; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack Chavis, Tommy Lee Chavis and
Alvin Chavis; and two sisters, Mildred and Ruby Stevenson.
He was a brick mason and attended Sago Baptist Church.

Raymond Allen Chenoweth, 65, of 116 Howard St., Belington, died Tuesday evening,
April 29, 2003, at his home following an extended illness.
He was born May 16, 1937, at Beverly, Randolph County, the son of the late
Charles Bernard and Amanda Virginia (Bender) Chenoweth.
On March 11, 1967, he married the former Patricia Lou O’Hare, who survives at
Howard Street, Belington.
Also surviving are two daughters, Marlene “Kay” Pudder, Belington, and
Virginia Pudder, Elkins; two sons, Raymond A. Chenoweth Jr., Elkins, and Michael
D. Chenoweth, at home; two brothers, Frank B. Chenoweth, Parkersburg, and Donald
L. Chenoweth, Elkhart, Ind.; five sisters, Linda E. Dolly, Petersburg, Janet L.
Chenoweth, Parkersburg, Judy Lantz, Lakeland, Fla., Dora J. Moellendick,
Parkersburg, Cora S. Chenoweth, Cincinnati, Ohio; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Susan Dawn Chenoweth; and two
brothers, Robert Wilson Chenoweth and James Edmond Chenoweth.
Mr. Chenoweth was a plumber and was formerly employed by McLean Plumbing and
Heating. He was a Korean Era veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a Nazarene by
faith and was a loving and devoted father and grandfather.

Edward Cheuvront
Edward Gerard Cheuvront, 43, a resident of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., since
March of 2002, departed this life on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, in Arizona.
He was born on Aug. 2, 1959, at Rodchester, Pa., a son of Charles Cheuvront and
Bernice Suttelle Cheuvront, who survives at Jimtown.
He was married to the former Terrina Gray, who survives at Lake Havasu City,
Ariz.
Also surviving are two sons, Dustin Cheuvront, Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and
Jacob Cheuvront, Astoria, Ore.; one daughter, Charlie Ann Cheuvront, WestLinn,
Ore.; two sisters, Linda Chiacco, Warrenton, Ore., and Debra Cheuvront-Kelley
and husband, Daniel Kelley, Astoria, Ore.; one grandson, Corey Cheuvront,
WestLinn, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews.
He moved with his family, as a small child, to Santa Clara, Calif., and later to
Knappa, Ore., where he graduated from the Knappa High School in 1977. He worked
for the Crown Zellerbach paper mill, later to be known as Georgia Pacific, for
25 years before retiring due to health problems. After his retirement from
Georgia Pacific, he worked as the property manager of the Parkview Apartments in
Warrenton, Ore.
He enjoyed his coin and baseball collections as well as his ongoing pursuit of
antiques through garage sales and flea markets. His most cherished past time was
always the enjoyment of his family, which includes his beloved pet bulldogs,
Chumley and Stella.
Friends will be received at Lietz-Fraze Chapel at Lake Havasu City, Ariz.,
Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A prayer service will be held Thursday evening

Catherine Chewning
Catherine Louise George Chewning, 79, a resident of the Elkins Regional
Convalescent Center and formerly of Dailey, departed this life 2:20 p.m. Friday,
Oct. 17, 2003, in the Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins. She had been in
declining health for quite sometime but her health became worse in the past
year.
She was born Oct. 29, 1923, in Kittanning, Pa., the daughter of the late Robert
Russell and Catherine Chestnut George.
In 1946 she was united in marriage to Leslie Lee Chewning, who preceded her in
death on April 4, 1971.
She is survived by three sons, Russell Lee Chewning of Moatsville, Robert Lynn
Chewning of Belington and Carl George Chewning of Elkins; two daughters, Roselyn
Chewning Russell of Newmarketsville, Va., and Cathy Elaine Chewning Campbell of
Ocala Fla.; one sister, Loretta Wedkin of Pennsylvania; and two brothers,
Kenneth George of Pennsylvania, and Carl George of Ohio.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and five
stepgrandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Grace
George, who raised her.
Mrs. Chewning attended the Kittanning area schools in Pennsylvania, and in her
earlier years was employed by Owens Illinois Glass Factory and Akron Aircraft.
She was a homemaker and was a Methodist by faith.

Ada Ferguson Click, 94, of Chestnut Street, Elkins, departed this life Wednesday
afternoon, Sept. 3, 2003, at Davis Memorial Hospital. Death was unexpected and
was attributed to cardiac arrest.
She was born Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1908, at Oakland, Md., the daughter of the late
Harry Lloyd Ferguson and Ada Coffman Ferguson.
On Nov. 12, 1927, in Elkins, she was married to Cecil Ray Click Sr., who
preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1981.
Surviving are one son, Cecil Ray Click Jr. of Elkins; two daughters, Stella
Marie Hill and husband, William M. Hill, of Swansboro, N.C.., and Betty Lou
Clayton and husband, Lawrence Clayton, of New Port Richie, Fla.; one sister,
Mildred Siler of Elkins; one stepsister, Iona Harbor of Arizona; one
stepbrother, Clayton W. Coffman of Delphi, Ind.; three grandchildren, Heather
Marie, Las Vegas, Nev., Amber Lee Click and Pamela Lynn Dudley, both of Elkins;
three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband is one grandson, Cecil
David Riggleman.

Harold F. “Freck” Cochran, 86, a resident of 106 Hall St., Philippi, passed
away at 10:50 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2003, in the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical
Center in Clarksburg.
He was born March 31, 1917, in Buckhannon, a son of the late Thomas and Jesse
Riggs Cochran.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and husband, Jim Kelley,
Johnstown, Ohio; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and wife, Linda Cochran,
Mason, Ohio; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Fay Cochran; and two
sisters, Madge Compton and Blanche Bennett.
He retired as superintendent from Badger Coal Co. He was a veteran of World War
II, serving with the U.S. Army with General Clark at Anzio. He was a member of
the Buckhannon Moose Lodge, Laurel Mountain Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 410 of
Belington and honor unit of Barbour County American Legion Post 44. He was a
Protestant by faith.

Jennings Darold Coen, 88, of Asbury Towers United Methodist Home, Greencastle, Ind., and formerly of Anderson, Ind., died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at Asbury Towers Nursing Home Facility, Greencastle, Ind., following an extended illness.
He was born May 17, 1914, in Gaston, a son of the late Ainsley Madison and Laura Rebecca Hacker Coen.
He was married on June 5, 1936, in Anderson, to E. Donna Tumulty Coen, who survives at Greencastle, Ind.

He was preceded in death by one brother, two sisters and one grandson.
He was an Anderson Police Officer who joined the department in August of 1942 and served as the chief from 1952-1956. He retired from the police department in 1962. He also served as the director of safety and transportation for Anderson Public Schools, retiring in 1976. He was a lifetime member of the Anderson Noon Lions Club and a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
Final rites will be performed by the Fraternal Order of Police at 1 p.m. Saturday at East Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson, Ind. Interment will be in East Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson, Ind. at a later date.

Cecil D. Cogar, 76, a resident of Replete Road in Hacker Valley, died
Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, at Webster continuous Care in Buckhannon following an
extended illness.
He was born Sept. 3, 1927, in Braxton County, the son of the late Delbert and
Bessie Cowger Cogar.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Alta Belle Cogar of Hacker Valley; one
foster daughter, Linda Lowther and husband, Max , of Hacker Valley; two sisters,
Ruth Hubbard of Hacker Valley and Hettie Sears of Rock Cave; and three nieces
and two nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jacob Lee Cogar.
He attended the Pleasant Ridge School and the Webster Springs High School.
Mr. Cogar also attended Glenville State College and graduated from West Virginia
Wesleyan College with an AB degree. He was also an Army veteran, having
served in the Korean Conflict.
He was employed by the Webster County Board of Education and taught at
Greenbrier Ridge, Removal, Jumbo, Cowger Hill, Cleveland, Guardian and Diana,
all in Webster County, and also served as the attendance director of Webster
county schools. He was a lifetime member of the West Virginia Association
of Retired School Employees and was a charter member and past Nobel Grand of the
Odd Fellows No. 364 and the Rebekah Lodge No. 91 of Hacker Valley.
He was a member of the Hacker Valley United Methodist Church, where he also was
a former Sunday School teacher and song leader. His hobbies included
reading, listening to gospel music, beekeeping and gardening.
Friends were received at the Dodd & Reed Funeral Home on Sunday. The
Odd Fellows and Rebekahs also held a service Sunday at the funeral home.
Services were conducted at 11 a.m. today at the funeral home with the Rev. Don
Dugas of Selbyville officiating. Burial followed in the Heavener Cemetery
in Buckhannon. Military rites were performed at the cemetery by the VFW

John T. Colabrese
John Thomas Colabrese, 87, a former resident of Clarksburg and Thomas, civic
leader and retired employee of Consolidated Gas Co. and Colabrese Brothers
Hardware Store, died at his home in Charles Town, Monday, Jan. 13, 2003.
Mr. Colabrese was born Oct. 12, 1915, in Douglas, the oldest child of the late
Frank and Antonietta Colabrese.
He graduated from Thomas High School in 1933 and moved to Clarksburg in
September 1935, where he enrolled in the West Virginia Business College and took
the complete business executive course. He also began teaching first aid to the
First Brethren Church Boy Scouts.
Mr. Colabrese served on several committees and as a trustee and lifetime member
of the Elks Club and the Knights of Columbus. He was drafted into the Army in
November 1942, and was stationed at Fifth Service Command Headquarters in
Columbus, Ohio. He also served at Fort Benjamin Harrison and Camp Allenbury,
Ind., where he was discharged in 1946. In 1947, he joined the American Legion
Post 31, where he was editor of Post 13 News, vice commander for several years,
and served on the membership committee.
Upon his return to Clarksburg, Mr. Colabrese attended business courses at WVU.
Under the G.I Bill, he attended Salem College night school and was one of the
first to earn a B.S. in business administration and social studies in 1954.
Mr. Colabrese retired from Consolidated Natural Gas Co. after more than 38
enjoyable years at Division 1 Headquarters. He returned to Thomas in 1979 and
worked in the family hardware and appliance store until it closed in 1998. He
served as faithful comptroller of the Council No. 2010 Knights of Columbus
Fourth Degree in Thomas.
Mr. Colabrese is survived by his sisters, Lucy Colabrese and Barbara Colabrese,
at home, Gloria and Marcel Vandendriessche of Wheaton, Md., Eleanor and William
Golladay of Newark, Del., Yonnie and Kenneth Sims of Charles Town; and numerous
nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Elviera Maphis, Clarksburg; brother,
Alphonso Colabrese, Fort Pierce, Fla.; and brother, G.J. “Bill” Colabrese,
Thomas.
Mr. Colabrese requested that all faithful navigators of Council No. 2010 Knights
of Columbus be honorary pallbearers.
Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral Home in Davis Wednesday from 3 p.m.
until 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St.
Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church with Father Lino P. Ebejer as celebrant.

James H. “Jim” Coleman Jr., 46, of Route 4, Buckhannon, died Monday, Sept.
1, 2003, at his home.
He was born Oct. 1, 1956, in Amherst, Ohio, the son of the late James H. Coleman
Sr. and Norma Jean Fortney Coleman.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Flanagan Coleman of Route 4, Buckhannon, whom
he married July 31, 1975.
Surviving are one daughter, Lauri Coleman of Wakeman, Ohio; one son, Jimmy
Coleman of Buckhannon; four brothers, Jerry Coleman of Elyria, Ohio, Rick
Coleman and wife, Donna, of Elyria, Ohio, Tony Coleman and wife, Tina, of
Ripley, and Dave Coleman and wife, Pam, of Buckhannon; an uncle and aunt, Glen
and Pat Coleman of Loveland, Ohio; eight nieces; three nephews; and 11
great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Randall Scott Coleman.
Mr. Coleman worked as a molder for Elyria Foundry in Elyria, Ohio, for 18 years
until 1996 when he retired for health reasons.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and enjoyed fishing, hunting and farming.

Nell G. Coleman, 96, of Bounds Circle, Westover, died Saturday, June 14,

She was a food manager at G.C. Murphy’s on High Street and attended the First
Christian Church. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge 51 of Morgantown and the
Pythian Sisters.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Chris and Donna Jo Coleman of
Belington, and Charles and Linda Coleman of Belington; one sister, Josephine
Yeager of Westover; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Coleman; two sons, John Coleman

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Orville Collins, William
Collins Jr. and Hueling Collins; and four daughters, Opal Vance, Letha Eubank,
Melba Collins and an infant daughter.
Surviving are his wife, Alta Lucille Cutlip Collins of Webster Springs; two
daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Karen) Bradley of Spotsylvania, Va., and Brenda Gregory

Anna Mae Collins, 78, of Durbin, passed away Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at Cortland
Acres Nursing Home in Thomas.
Mrs. Collins was born Dec. 10, 1924, at Durbin, and was the daughter of the late
Albert and Myrtle Westfall Ash.
She attended the Durbin Church of the Brethren, was a clerk at the Durbin
Mercantile and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign
Wars Post 3453.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Collins; three sisters, Thelma
Williams, Myrtle Palmer and Sylvia Kincaid; and two brothers, Paul and Albert
“June” Ash.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda K. Findley and Millie Arbogast, both of
Durbin; one son, Leonard D. Collins of Poulsbo, Wash.; three grandchildren,
Debbie Channell, Beth Arbogast and Matthew Collins; and one great-grandson,
Matthew Collins II.

Barbie Sayre Collins, 41, of Route 1, French Creek, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003,
in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.
She was born April 15, 1962, in Upshur County, the daughter of Troy O. Sayre and
the late Lucille P. Tenney Sayre.
She was united in marriage April 19, 1980, to Raymond Michael Collins, who
survives.
She is survived by one son, Roger Michael Collins, at home; one sister, Donna
Lewis and husband, Mike, of French Creek; one brother, Steven Sayre and wife,
Elsie, of French Creek; and several nieces and nephews.
Barbie was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Sayre, on Dec. 16, 2002, and
one brother, Michael Sayre, on Dec. 13, 2000.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter and aunt. A homemaker and a
green-thumb gardener, Barbie loved her flowers. She will be missed by all.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Jean Murphy.
She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1942. She was a
receptionist and billing clerk at the former Tucker County Hospital for over 30
years, was a clerk at the Parsons City Hall and was a parts clerk for the West
Virginia Department of Highways until her retirement in 1989.

He had never married.

She was born Sunday, Oct. 26, 1919, at Whitmer, the daughter of the late William
Thompson and Cena Mullenax Thompson.
On Oct. 26, 1946, she was married to Ernest Cook, who preceded her in death Nov.
14, 1988.

James Felix Cook, 68, of Elkins, departed this life Sunday morning, Aug. 24,
2003, while traveling with his wife in Tucker County. Death was attributed to
cardiac arrest.
He was born Wednesday, Feb. 14, 1935, at Wymer, the son of the late James Cook
and Vernie Tingler Cook.
On Oct. 7, 1961, at Oakland, Md., he was married to the former Annabelle
Lambert, who survives. They celebrated 41 years of marriage.
Also surviving are one son, Jim “Sonny” Cook and wife Leanette, of Elkins;
one grandson, Joshua Cook; one granddaughter, Samantha Cook; seven brothers, Roy
Cook of Cleveland, Ohio, Joe Cook of Wheeling, Paul Cook of Canton, Ohio, Gene
Cook of Elkins, George Cook of Beverly, Howard Cook of St. Clairsville, Ohio,
and Jerry Cook of Alaska; and one sister, Ina Cook of Wymer.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were three brothers, Emmett, Ernest
and Jack Cook; and two sisters, Edna Fleming and Hazel Lambert.
Mr. Cook attended the schools of Randolph County and was a logger from 1964
until his retirement in 2001. He was the owner and operator of Jaco Trucking
where he contracted for several local sawmills and for the past year for the J.F.
Allen Co.
He was awarded the Logger of the Year award during 1982.

Annalise “Liz” Cooper, 79 died suddenly Tuesday, April 8, 2003, in
Elkins.
She was born in Ellingen, Germany, on Oct. 7, 1923.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorenz and Therese Hausler; and her
husband, Louis Auguste Cooper.
She lived most of her life in Upper Montclair, N.J. She retired from the
Montclair Times in 1979, where she worked as the bookkeeper for both the
Montclair Times and the Verona-Cedar Grove Times. She lived in Jensen Beach,
Fla., until the death of her husband in October of 2000. She then moved to
Stuart, Fla., and most recently to Elkins.
She leaves behind two daughters, Doris L. Cooper, Copley, Ohio, and Elaine
Cooper Gilmore and son-in-law, John F. Gilmore, Elkins; three grandsons, Eric
Cooper, San Antonio, Texas, Dana Cooper, Copley, Ohio, and Julian Gilmore; two
granddaughters, Marguerite Gilmore and Kelly Gilmore; one great-grandson, Luke
Masten, all of Elkins, and a brother, Joseph Hausler of Altamonte, Fla.
Liz was an avid bowler.

Eldon Fotch "Pappy" Cooper, 80, of Hinton, died Saturday, March
15, 2003, at his home.
Mr. Cooper was born Oct. 1, 1922, in Harman, a son of the late Floyd and Effie
Armstrong Cooper.
Mr. Cooper attended Randolph County schools as a youth and was a member of the
Mt. Bethel Church of the Brethren in Lilly. He was an Army veteran of World War
II and a member of the Mt. Clinton VFW Post.
On Sept. 21, 1945, he married Mabel Long Cooper, who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Carlin Cooper, Hinton; and three sisters,
Yvonne Webster and Mary Ellen Dice, both of Harman, and Freda Yokum, Elkins.

Sammy W. Cooper
Sammy Waldo Cooper, 61, a resident of Harman, departed this life Sunday morning,
Aug. 10, 2003, at the home of his daughter, Christy D. Cooper of 105 Sunset
Drive, Elkins. He had been in declining health since May 24 with brain cancer,
although death was unexpected.
He was born Monday, March 23, 1942, at Detroit, Mich., the son of the late Waldo
Albert Cooper and Janet Dove Mullennex Cooper.
On June 9, 1966, at Oakland, Md., he was married to the former Dolly Armentrout,
who survives at Harman.
Also surviving are two daughters, Christy D. Cooper, Elkins and Tina L. Cooper,
Fairfax, Va.; two brothers, Jeff Cooper and wife, Denice, Mill Creek, and Greg
Cooper and wife Brenda, Harman; three sisters, Vanessa Heitz and husband, Allen,
Davis, Sarah Kennard, Elkins and Barbara “Babs” Armentrout and husband,
Criss, Spotsylvania, Va.; and four grandchildren.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were two brothers, Jeddie Riley
Cooper and Daniel Lee Cooper; and one granddaughter, Corinne Andrea Zirkle.
Sammy was a graduate of Harman High School, was a veteran of the U.S. Army and
served in Germany, had worked as the operations manager for Washington Printing
Supplies for 30 years, was a member of the American Legion and the Loyal Order
of Moose at Arlington, Va., and had recently returned to Harman in September
2002.

Mary Hazel Corder, 97, a resident of Wishing Well Manor Nursing Facility,
Fairmont, and a former resident of 212 Chestnut St., Philippi, passed away
Sunday, March 16, 2003, in the Wishing Well Manor Nursing Facility.
She was born Sept. 22, 1905, in Pendleton County, a daughter of the late Jacob
and Mary (Lough) Dickenson.
She was united in marriage in 1929 to Herbert Corder, who preceded her in death
in 1972.
Surviving is one daughter and son-in-law, Ann C. Lantz and husband, Fred S.,
Irwin, Pa.
Mrs. Corder was the last surviving member of 13 children.
She was an employee of Neva’s Dress Shop and an attendant at the Grand
Theater. She was a member and Past Nobel Grand of Dorcas Rebekah Lodge No. 275
of Philippi. She was a member of Philippi Presbyterian Church and Women’s
Circle.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi,
after 10 a.m. Friday. Dorcas Rebekah Lodge 275 will conduct memorial services at

Deward R. Corley
Deward Rector Corley, 85, a resident of Valley Head, passed away at 10:30
a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2003, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 13, 1917, in Barbour County, the son of the late Russell Boyd
Corley and Rachel Lena Wagner Corley Price.
On Dec. 15, 1940, at Greenup, Ky., he married the former Thelma Gay Lindsay, who
survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Russell P. Corley of Deerfield, Ohio, and Lloyed N.
Corley of Diamond, Ohio; and six daughters, Sharon J. Corley and Lynette G.
Corley Branch, both of Valley Head, Barbara J. Corley Savey of Harrison, Mich.,
Helen E. Corley Campbell of Johnson City, Tenn., Susan R. Corley Sigley of
Elkins, and Patrice A. Corley.
Also surviving are four brothers, William Corley of Elkins, Adrian Corley of
Brooklyn, Ohio, Donald Corley and Homer Corley, both of Akron, Ohio; and two
sisters, Phyllis Skidmore of Valley Bend and Shirley Baldwin of Akron, Ohio.
Fifteen grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren also survive.
Preceding him in death are two brothers, Kenneth Corley and Gary Corley; an
infant son; and one great-grandson.
Mr. Corley was a retired coal miner.

Stephen A. Corley
Stephen A. Corley, 28, of Beverly Pike, Belington, died unexpectedly
Wednesday morning, May 21, 2003, at his home.
He was born April 12, 1975, at Elkins, a son of Jackson W. Corley, who survives
at Junior, and Cassandra Ann (Harris) Fanel, who survives at Odum, Ga.
Also surviving are one sister, Lynda Michelle Corley, Odum, Ga.; a foster
brother, Michael A. Shamblin U.S.N., Norfolk, Va.; and his paternal grandmother,
Nina V. (Igo) Corley, Dartmoor.
He was also preceded in death by an infant brother, John Paul Corley.
Mr. Corley was a graduate of Philip Barbour High School and had attended West
Virginia University. He was currently employed at Lee Wood Products at
Belington. He was an avid and self-taught guitarist and enjoyed performing with
a local band.

until 9 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday when funeral services

Virginia Marie Corley, 86, of Virginia Beach, Va., formerly of 14 Green St.,
Buckhannon, departed this life at the Sentara Bayside Hospital in Virginia
Beach.
She was born in Upshur County, the eldest daughter of the late Herbert and
Virgie Loudin Gladwell. She was the loving wife of Carl E. Corley for more than
44 years prior to his death. A sister, Madaline Cogar preceded her in death.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and is survived by
one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Charles Ray of Virginia Beach, Va.,
with whom she resided; one son and daughter-in-law, Carl E. Jr. and Suzanne
Corley, also of Virginia Beach, Va.; three sisters and two brothers-in-law,
Shirley and Roscoe Rexrode of Rock Cave, Olene and Ralph Lowe of Clarksville,
Tenn., and Lovena Hibbs of Buckhannon; five grandchildren and spouses, Robin
Trimble and husband, Miller, Robert Ray and wife, Kimberly, of Virginia Beach,
Va., James Ray and wife, Laura, of Palmyra, Pa., Bryan Corely and wife, Keady,
of Jane Lew, and Scott Corley and wife of West Virginia; six
great-grandchildren, Christopher Sprague, Sean Ray, Marianne Trimble and Leah
Trimble of Virginia Beach, Madison Ray of Palmyra, Pa., and Brandon Corley of
Jane Lew. She is also survived by one uncle, Rex Loudin of Buckhannon.
Mrs. Corley was a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church where she
was also a member of the Methodist Women, Sarah Circle and friendship class. She
attended Haygood United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach. She will be fondly
remembered by her many friends in Buckhannon and Virginia Beach.

On Nov. 1, 1941, at Monterey, Va., he was married to Rosalie Flanagan Corley,
who survives in Elkins.

Ray M. “Bud” Cost Sr., 86, a former resident of Livingston Avenue,
Elkins, and a patient of Talbott Personal Care Home in Belington, passed away
Saturday morning, June 7, 2003, at the personal care home.
He was born Aug. 17, 1916, at Keyser, a son of the late Ray Milburn Cost and
Jeretta Pearl Jenkins Cost.
On Jan. 22, 1946, he was married to Hazel Viola “Peg” Hinzman, who preceded
him in death on Sept. 12, 1981.
Surviving are two sons, Ray M. Cost Jr. of Belington and Jason M. Cost and wife,
Jane, of Grafton; one daughter, Beverly Fortney and husband, Ralph, of Beverly;
one brother, James “Jim” Cost of Elkins; six grandchildren, Marlene Sue

Jared M. Cost; and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Cost was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He participated in

James L. “Jim” Cowan, 63, of Myers Fork Road, Petroleum, departed this
life on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at his residence.
He was born on Aug. 18, 1939, near Sherrard in Marshall County.
Mr. Cowan was retired from the Harrison County School System as a school bus
driver and had worked in the coal industry as a truck driver and miner in the
Fairmont and Wheeling areas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a graduate
of Sherrard High School and was a member of the First Assembly of God in
Harrisville.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine A. Howell Foster Cowan; two daughters,
Sheila J. Cowan, Fairmont, and Elaine E. Thomas, Port St. Lucie, Fla.; a son,
Brian L. Cowan, North Bend, Wash.; two stepdaughters, Bonnie Wright, Moatsville,
and Regina Gilley, Elkton, Va.; two stepsons, Leroy B. Foster, Whiteman AFB,
Mo., and Leon G. Foster, Nutter Fort; a sister, Barbara Yocum, Terra Alta; and
14 grandchildren.
Mr. Cowan was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie H. and Helen Fryer Cowan;

On May 9, 1953, she married Ronald C. “Frank” Craig, who passed away on Feb.
26, 2002.
Surviving are two sons, Stephen L. Craig and wife, Sharrey, of Ireland, and
Douglas L. Craig and wife, Cathy, of Ireland; two daughters, Debra Lambert and
husband, Jim, of Weston, and Tamera K. Craig of Charlotte, N.C.; nine
grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Ronald Miller of
Arkansas, Ralph Miller of Ireland, Jerry Miller of Ireland, Delmar Miller of
Virginia; and two sisters, Earlene Sykes of Ohio and Nelda Machutas of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Miller.
Mrs. Craig was a member of the Ireland United Methodist Church and was a
homemaker and co-founder of Mountain State Log Homes in Ireland.
She was a member of the Shamrock Community Educational Outreach Service Club in
Ireland was a volunteer at Our Neighbor in Weston, was past queen of the 2001
Irish Spring Festival and was the 1995 Homemaker of the Year for Lewis County.

Harry E. “Skip” Craig of Sommerville, S.C., died suddenly Sunday, Sept. 28,
2003.
He was born July 9, 1934, in McMechen, the son of the late Harry Layman Craig
and Meta Harne Craig, who survives.
He is also survived by the following children: Harry L. “Butch” Craig and
wife, Jan, of Buckhannon, Jeffrey T. Craig of Petersburg, Dennis E. Craig and
wife, Jolene, of New Brighton, Pa., Rebecca Jarrell and husband, Rex, of
Houston, Texas, Debra J. Wallace and husband, Chris, of Medfield, Mass., and
Melinda L. Craig of Urbana, Ill.
He is also survived by one sister, Betty Jane Lash of McMechen; six
grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father and one daughter, Betsy Jane Craig.
Skip served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Palau. He retired from CSX as a
railroad engineer and road foreman. He was employed as the officer manager for
CMS Inc. of Sommerville.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3655, Grand Lodge AF&AM
of Flushing, Ohio, Lodge Council Chapter Consistory Valley of Cambridge Scottish
Rite, Osiris Temple Shrine Club of Wheeling, Dorchester Shrine Club and the
Loyal Order of Moose.
Skip remained a true West Virginian in heart and was a loyal West Virginia
University Mountaineer fan. He will be sadly missed by his family and Jose, his
dog and constant companion.
Visitation will be Friday at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home in Buckhannon
from noon until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. Interment will be in a private family

Robert B. Criss
Robert Burton Criss, 82, of Route 4, Philippi, and a former resident of
Chestnut Street, Philippi, passed away Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, in the Louis A.
Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center.
He was born April 29, 1921, in Philippi, the son of the late Walter Elam Criss
and Eva Mae Johnson Criss.
Surviving is one sister, Laura Bella Criss of Philippi.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mable Mary Criss, Ida Lee Moore and
Bessie Mae Campbell; and two brothers, Henry Albert Criss and Harry Lee Criss.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and attended Alderson-Broaddus
College for three years.
In earlier years, he worked in road construction and was a former state road
supervisor for Barbour County.
He served as director of public works for the city of Philippi, was a former
Nationwide Insurance agent, served as superintendent of the fairgrounds for
Barbour County Parks and Recreation, was a former city councilman and served on
the Philippi Sanitation Board.

Melissa Crites-Butler
Melissa Crites-Butler, 33, of 512 N. Main St., Bridgewater, Va., died Saturday,
Aug. 23, 2003, in the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Va.
She was born Aug. 23, 1970, in Philippi.
She is survived by her husband, David Wayne Butler.
Surviving are her parents, Thomas and Treasea Crites of Buckhannon; her mother,
Ella Rebecca Crites of Buckhannon; two sons, David Butler II of Bridgewater,
Va., and Dallas Thomas Butler of Bridgewater, Va.; one brother, Scott Thomas
Crites of Buckhannon; one sister, Tiffany Carpenter of Buckhannon; and her
paternal grandfather, Paul Crites of Buckhannon.
She was the owner of Melissa’s Childcare and was an administrative assistant
for Banta Book Group. She was very active in Childcare Advocacy in Virginia.

Funeral Home in Buckhannon where funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Robert L. Cross
Robert L. Cross, 70, a resident of Canton, Ohio, died at his home on Monday,
Aug. 11, 2003, after a long illness.
He was born Oct. 7, 1936, in Belington, the son of the late Pearl and Audna Hall
Cross.
His wife of 36 years, Evelyn Boseman Cross, survives in Canton, Ohio.
Also surviving are one son, Joseph A. Cross of Canton, Ohio; one daughter, Robin
Ball of Florida; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters,
Dorothy Hill of Belington and Edna Gertrude Cross of Louisville, Ohio; and six
brothers, Elmer Cross, Orland “Jack” Cross and Richard Cross of Canton,
Ohio, Kenny Cross of Louisville, Ohio, and Johnny Cross and Charles Cross of
Belington.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Dorsey Cross.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Stringtown

Stanley D. Croston, 85, a resident of Mill Creek, passed away Thursday evening,
Nov. 20, 2003, in the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center. Funeral arrangements

Evelyn V. Crouch
Evelyn Virginia Crouch, 92, a former resident of 120 Second St.,
Elkins, and more recently a resident of the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center
at Belington, departed this life late Saturday afternoon, June 28, 2003, at the
center. She had been in declining health.
She was born Thursday, July 7, 1910, at Elkins, a daughter of the late Lee
Crouch and Sarah Amanda Wallace Crouch.
She had never married.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded
in death by one brother, Wallace McNeel Crouch, and two sisters, Mary
Rothlisberger and Maud Morris.
She is survived by her niece, Helen Huston and husband, Bob, of Albion, Pa.;
their children, Richard Huston and wife, Sherry, and family of Albion, Robert E.
Huston Jr. and wife, Carolyn, and family of Nashville, Tenn., Marcia McCall and
husband, Cash, and family of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and nieces, Joanne and Tom
Sanders and family of Pennsylvania, and Carol and Chuck Miller and family of
South Carolina.
She attended the schools of Elkins, was a graduate of the Elkins High School
class of 1927 and was a cum laude graduate of Davis & Elkins College, with
the class of 1931.
Following college she taught at the one-room school at Glady. She later attended
the University of Pittsburgh at Pittsburgh, Pa., and received a master’s of
education degree. In 1953, she obtained a master’s of arts degree at the
George Peabody College for Teachers at Nashville. The same year she received her
state board certification of librarians.
She served as librarian at West Virginia Wesleyan College at Buckhannon for
several years and then became the librarian at Davis & Elkins College, from
which she retired.
Evelyn was a devoted member of the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church where she
received an honorary life membership by the Women of the Church in 1978, was a
very dedicated member of Circle No. 5 and attended its meetings well into her
80s, and had served as Sunday School teacher for the adult Sunday School class.
The family will receive friends at the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church on
Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Jeff Falter will

Charles T. Cross
Charles Thomas Cross, 61, a resident of Parsons, departed this life Tuesday
morning, May 13, 2003, in Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins. He had been in
declining health for many years and death was attributed to diabetes.
He was born July 6, 1941, in Moore, a son of the late Thomas Cross and Bertha
Summerfield Cross.
On Sept. 21, 1963, in Oakland, Md., he was married to the former Barbara
Catherine Barkley, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Kevin Charles Cross and wife, Donna, of Parsons; one
daughter, Tammy Lynn Robbins and husband, Jay, of Elkins; three brothers, Omer
Cross and wife, Ann, of Moore, Howard Cross and wife, Ada, of Montrose, and Joey
Cross of Moore; three sisters, Beulah Reynolds of Parsons, Violet Martin and
husband, Merel, and Lori Vance and husband, Richard, all of Montrose; and three
grandchildren, Haley Robbins of Elkins, and Candy and Lacey Cross of Parsons.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest Cross and Oaky Cross.
He attended the school at Moore and Parsons High School.
He was a former employee of the Parsons Tannery, Ricottilli Lumber and retired
in 1989 as a coal miner.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Parsons. He was an avid
metal detector and coin collector.

Dora Nestor Cross, 96, a resident of Cortland Acres Nursing Home in Thomas,
departed this life early Saturday morning, April 26, 2003, at the nursing home.
She was born Aug. 26, 1906, at St. George, a daughter of the late Samson Fansler
Nestor and Etta Mae Fitzwater Nestor.
On Oct. 21, 1923, at St. George, she was married to Luther Levi Cross, who
preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 1953.
Surviving are three sons, Junior Ray Cross, Akron, Ohio, Willard Eugene
“Pete” Cross and wife, Juliette, Midland, Va., and Charles Windel Cross and
wife, Iris, Waldorf, Md.; six daughters, Delores Dorine Tilton, Piqua, Ohio,
Wanda Catherine Whitehair, Akron, Ohio, Judith Ann Cattrell, Doyles Town, Ohio,
Grace Elizabeth Polhemus, Grand Junction, Colo., Karen Sue Barner and husband,
Roger, Great Falls, Va., and Lillian Lorraine Markley, Meadowbrook; 21
grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several
great-great-grandchildren.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded
in death by one daughter, Vida Mae Thomasson; six brothers, Porter, Floyd,
Staley, Dennis, Artie and Marvin Nestor; five sisters, Edna, Lena Grace, Ethel,
Flora and Evelyn; and one great-grandson, Roy Polhemus.
She attended the one-room school at St. George. She was a member of the First
United Methodist Church in Hendricks. She was a homemaker and devoted mother.

Mendel Cross
Mendel Cross, 70, a resident of Wabash Avenue in Belington and more recently a
resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Belington, departed this life Saturday,
Nov. 8, 2003, at 2:50 a.m. at the center. He had been in declining health for
quite some time.
He was born April 28, 1933, at the Hunters Fork community near Belington, the
son of the late Rev. Howard W. and Hazel Bennett Cross.
He is survived by one son, Fred Cross and wife, Margareta, of Montrose; three
daughters, Rhonda Cross, Lara Lawrence and husband, Jake, and Lana Fowler and
husband, Aaron, all of Belington; five sisters, Lorraine Cross of Canton, Ohio,
Lavonda Ware and Sharon Vanover both of Minerva, Ohio, Francis Jones of Warren,
Ohio, and Winona Feldman of Mansfield, Ohio; and two brothers, Brenice J. Cross
of Elkins and Howard D. Cross of Minerva, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Shane
Wilfong, Nick Cross, Ashley Cross, Matthew Lawrence, Katrina, Aaron Michael and
Kaitlyn Fowler; five stepgrandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren; and his
former wife, Dolly Cross of Belington.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by three brothers, LaJune,
Verdon and Harold Cross.
Mr. Cross attended the schools of Barbour County, was a veteran of the U.S. Air
Force and served as a military policeman during the Korean War.
Formerly Mr. Cross worked as a Barbour County school bus driver, Belington city
policeman and a heavy equiptment operator from which he retired from in 1971.
Mr. Cross was a member of the H.W. Daniels American Legion Post 29 in Elkins and
a honorary member of the Belington Volunteer Fire Department and was a Methodist
by faith.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 5 p.m. to
9 p.m. today and on Tuesday until 1:30 p.m., the funeral hour when final rites
will be conducted from the funeral home parlor. The Rev. Jimmie E. Tallman will

Richard Crossland Jr.
Richard Henry Lee Crossland Jr., 20, of Thomas, passed away Saturday, April
19, 2003, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 14, 1982, in Alexandria, Va., the son of Richard Henry Lee
Crossland Sr. of Thomas and Cynthia Kay Craven of Chester, Md.
Also surviving are his stepmother, Wanda Evans Crossland of Thomas; his
stepfather, Jerry Cox of Chester, Md.; one brother, Kelly Wayne Crossland of
Herndon, Va.; one sister, Dawn Gravelle of Davis; and three stepbrothers, Denzil
Evans Jr. of Parsons, Kevin Evans of Horse Shoe Run and Ryan Evans of Thomas.
Mr. Crossland worked as a prep cook. He enjoyed playing with his nephews and
niece, listening to music, snowboarding and camping.

p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Hinkle Funeral

Dorla J. Croston
Dorla Jean Croston, 71, a resident of Frost, passed away at
10:20 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at her home.
She was born July 10, 1931, at Suncrest, a daughter of the late
Hoy and Evelyn Crawford Burnside.
On Jan. 21, 1950, she was married to Victor Burt Croston who
preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 1995.
Surviving are one son, James Lee Croston, Mill Creek; two
daughters, Vickie Lane Croston and Judith Ann Baldwin, both of Frost; three
brothers, Arthur Burnside, East Dailey, Paul Burnside, Panxatawny, Pa., and
William Burnside, Elkins; one sister, Pauline Barbara Tenney, Cowen. Four
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Croston was a graduate of Licensed Practical Nursing School
and was employed during training at the Memorial General Hospital in Elkins as a
licensed practical nurse.
She last worked at the Pocahontas Memorial Hospital prior to
becoming disabled. She was a Methodist by faith and a member of the
AARP.
Friends were received from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday at the
Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. today
from the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Verl Simmons officiated and

Stanley Croston Sr.
Mr. Stanley D. Croston Sr., 85, a resident of Mill Creek, passed away at 6 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, in the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center.
He was born Feb. 3, 1920, in Elkins, a son of the late Birdett and Olie Mae King
Croston.
On July 3, 1952, at Oakland, Md., he was married to Juanita Bonnell Croston, who
survives at Mill Creek.
Also surviving are a son, Stanley D. Croston Jr. and wife, Toni; a grandson,
Stanley D. Croston III and wife, Kyndra; two great-grandchildren, Ryan M.
Croston and Matthew K. Croston; and one brother, Leonard Croston.
Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Shirley, Alvie and John Croston;
and two sisters, Blanch Quick and Kay Polito.
Mr. Croston attended the schools of Randolph County and served with the U.S.
Navy during World War II on a medical transport ship in the Pacific. He was
employed as a miner for Bethlehem Steel for 20 years. He was a bus driver for
the Randolph County Board of Education and owned and operated the Mill Creek
Barber Shop.
Mr. Croston served at one time as vice chairman of the Mill Creek Emergency
Squad and served as scout master with the Boy Scouts for 15 years. He was a
member of the Mill Creek United Methodist Church and served in various church
offices.

Joseph Herbert “Joe” Culver, 52, a resident of Route 1, Beverly, the
East Dailey community, departed this life Saturday evening, May 31, 2003, at his
home. He had been in declining health.
He was born Friday, Nov. 17, 1950, at Washington, D.C., the son of the late
Francis “Joe” Culver and Rita Tothill Culver.
On Nov. 17, 1990, at Annapolis, Md., he was married to the former Lucy Nan
McLaughlin, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Keith Culver and wife, Diane, and Mike Culver and
wife, Jennifer, all of Maryland; one daughter, Josie Crzywacz, Maryland; one
stepson, Jamie VanNess and wife, Kathy, New York; one stepdaughter, Becky Jo
VanNess, New York; two brothers, Troy Culver, Florida, and Wayne Culver,
Washington, D.C.; three sisters, Marlene, Charlene and Peggy; his mother-in-law,
Ruth McLaughlin, Elkins; one brother-in-law, Robert McLaughlin and wife,
Christine, Elkins; 10 grandchildren, Kasey, Abby, Sara, Amber, Julia, Zachary,
Brianne, Joshua, Cierra and Conner; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Steve Culver.
He attended the schools of Washington, D.C., was a veteran of the U.S. Marine
Corps and served during the Vietnam War. He was a glazer for various glass
companies throughout America, including Talbott Paint and Glass of Elkins and
various local contractors, and had worked as a meat cutter.
He was an avid NASCAR fan and outdoorsman and was a member of the First Baptist
Church.

Daisy Ellen Dodrill Cunningham, 64, of 12 Carol St., Buckhannon, died at 1:30
p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2003, at her home.
She was born Oct. 9, 1938, in Birch River, the daughter of the late Emmitt
Robert Dodrill and Grace Virginia George Dodrill Hamrick.
On March 10, 1956, she married Robert O. Cunningham, who survives in Buckhannon.
Surviving are one son, Bobby Cunningham of Front Royal, Va.; four brothers,
Jessie Dodrill and wife, Ann, of Bath, Pa., Ralph Hamrick and wife, Nancy, of
Buckhannon, Richard Hamrick of Buckhannon, and Ben Hamrick and wife, Tawana, of
Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Sondra Cunningham, Strasburg, Va.; five
grandsons, Bobby Cunningham Jr. of Strasburg, Va., Jesse Cunningham of Lakeland,
Fla., David Cunningham of Lakeland, Fla., Gregory Cunningham of Germany and
James Cunningham of Glenville; one great-granddaughter, Savanna Cunningham of
Strasburg, Va.; and a loving aunt, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by one son, Michael Ray Cunningham.

Joseph P. Cuppari
Joseph P. Cuppari, 71, a resident of Buckhannon, died at 9:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 28, 1931, at Wendel, the son of the late Frank and Mary D.
Secret Cuppari.
On Jan. 14, 1950, he was married to Catherine Lopez Cuppari, who survives in
Buckhannon. They were married 53 years.
Surviving are one daughter, Patti Jo Stout and husband, Larry, Florida; one son,
James Cuppari and wife, Pam, Buckhannon; three sisters, Josephine Harris,
Warren, Mich., Antonette “Butch” Yervasi, Detroit, Mich., and Rose Serotore,
Philadelphia, Pa.; two granddaughters, Petia Modarelli and husband, Mark,
Florida, and Catherine Hoeveler and husband, Christopher, Ocean City, N.J.; one
grandson, Joseph Paul Cuppari II, Buckhannon; one great-granddaughter, Alanna
Hoeveler, Ocean City, N.J.; several nieces and nephews; two special nieces,
Jeanie Latz, Clarksburg, and Roseanne Mitchel, Coraopolis, Pa.; and two special
friends, Willie Scott, Buckhannon, and Roger Dean, Buckhannon.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Connie Scrips; four brothers, Anthony
Cuppari, Angelo Cuppari, Frank Cuppari and Carmen Cuppari; and four infant
brothers and sisters.
Mr. Cuppari was a businessman and owner of Superior Auto Sales. He was a
Catholic by faith.
He was awarded a diploma from the University of Hard Knocks at Alderson-Broaddus
College. He was the founder of J&C Wholesale and Amusement Inc., Superior
Auto Sales, Cuppari Rentals and many other enterprises.
He loved his family and wife, whom he gave wholeheartedly to as well as others.
Many people knew him as “Uncle Joe” because he helped people to purchase
cars they might not have had by letting them owe him.
Because of his generosity, many families had a good Christmas. No one in need
was ever turned away from his door. Also several people are in business in the
Buckhannon area because of his help.
The most wonderful husband, father, grandfather and most recently
great-grandfather, was the “glue” to his family. They all loved and
respected him and they will forever.
His wife, Catherine, wants to express thanks to their son, Jimmy, who opened his
home and heart for the last seven months of his life. To the daughter-in-law,
Pam, who got up many nights to help take care of him, whom he loved like a
daughter.
To Catherine, her lovely granddaughter, who made many trips from New Jersey to
be with her grandfather. To her husband, Christopher, who was very understanding
and loving through all of it.
Special thanks to Willie, who helped the family take care of him and Roger, who
was always there. To Stan Yost, his lawyer, who talked me through a lot of tears
and whom Joe loved and respected. Also a special thank-you to the Rev. Jack
Bohman and wife, Cindy, for praying for Joe and us during our sorrows and
standing by us all.

Betty Currence
Betty Jean Osborne Currence, 76, a resident of Mill Creek, went home to be with
the Lord on Friday morning, Feb. 7, 2003, at her home. She had been in declining
health.
She was born Sunday, Feb. 28, 1926, at Norton, the daughter of the late Glen W.
Osborne and Ida Mae Knarr Osborne.
During September 1943, she was married to Hileray C. “Boone” Currence Jr.,
who preceded her in death on May 29, 2001.
Surviving are two daughters, Beverly Hammonds and husband, Bill, Mill Creek, and
Patty Corley Tryon and husband, Rich, Fairmont; one son, Jack Currence and wife,
Shirley, Mill Creek; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several
nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Currence attended the schools of Randolph County and had worked for several
years for the W.T. Grant Co. She also worked as a teacher’s aide and later as
a cook for Randolph County Schools.
She was a member of the Mill Creek United Methodist Church and the United
Methodist Women’s Circle.
Friends will be received at the Mill Creek United Methodist Church from 6 p.m.
to 9 p.m. Sunday. Final rites will be conducted at the church at 2 p.m. Monday.

Ellen C. Currence
Ellen Clara Currence, 94, a resident of Nella’s Nursing Home Inc. at
Crystal Springs since 1982, passed away Saturday evening, Feb. 15, 2003, at the
nursing home.
She was born Dec. 10, 1908, at Elm Grove, a daughter of the late Walter A. and
Margaret Swartz Senkbeil.
On June 18, 1930, at Elm Grove, she was married to Ford Gene Currence, who
preceded her in death on Aug. 18, 1981.
She is survived by four sons, Robert Walter Currence, Pipestem, Luther Ford
Currence, Elkins, Charles Lee Currence, Winchester, Va., and William August
Currence of Alexandria, Va.; six daughters, Clara Louise Robinson, Belpre, Ohio,
Jean Thompson, Hanover, Pa., Angelia Elaine Phillips, Elkins, Lilly Marie Hill,
Veto, Ohio, Virginia Ruth Corder, Washington, Va., and Shery Lynn Downs of Front
Royal, Va.; one sister, Margaret Dierkes, Elm Grove; 26 grandchildren and 39
great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were one son, Roger Allen Currence; one sister, Edna
Sekoral; and three brothers, Walter “Boots” Senkbeil, Victor and Herbert
Senkbeil.
Mrs. Currence was a homemaker and a Lutheran by faith.

Jenny Currence
Jenny A. Simmons Currence, 70, a lifelong resident of Mill Creek, passed away at
2:20 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, at her residence after a long fight with
cancer.
She was born May 13, 1933, at Valley Head, the daughter of the late Marvin and
Zeddie Hamrick Simmons.
On Dec. 25, 1949, in Valley Head by the Rev. Nay, she was united in marriage to
William “Bill” Currence, who survives in Mill Creek. They would have
celebrated their 54th anniversary on Christmas Day of this year.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Valerie Danzig of
Elkins; one son, Billy Currence and a special daughter-in-law, Lisa; three
sisters, Olive Arbogast of Mill Creek, Rosa Weese of Beverly and Lucille Hogan
of Ohio; and one brother, Sherman Simmons of Kansas.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Brian Wood, Brad Wood, Chad Currence,
Craig Currence, Joshua Currence and Katrina Currence; and four
great-grandchildren, Ashley Wood, Tyler Wood, Elizabeth Wood and Katelyn Wood.
Preceding her in death besides her parents were one sister, Sylvia Sharp; two
brothers, Homer and Wilford Simmons; and one grandson, Shawn Currence.
Jenny was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will always be in their
hearts and greatly missed, not only by her family but also by the lives she
touched.
Mrs. Currence was a homemaker, loved to garden and loved all flowers. She
attended the Mill Creek Memorial Mission Church.
Friends will be received at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday after
6 p.m. On Monday, Mrs. Currence will be moved to the Mill Creek Memorial Mission
Church for visitation from noon until 1 p.m., the funeral hour. The Revs. Frank
Long and Randy Long, pastors of the church, and the Rev. Verl Simmons, pastor of
the Mill Creek Methodist Charge, will officiate. Interment will follow in the
Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville.

Junior H. Currence
Junior Hiram Currence, 84, a resident of Elkins and more recently a patient in
the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, passed away at 11:35 a.m. Friday, Feb.
7, 2003, in the Davis Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 23, 1918, in Mill Creek, the son of the late Hiram Abiff and
Lilly Josephine Crouch Currence.
In February 1941, at Oakland, Md., he was married to Elsie Irene Ware Currence,
who preceded him in death Nov. 6, 1995.
He is survived by one son, Michael Ray Currence and wife, Pam, of Elkins; and
three daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Sandra Sue) Hornick of Beverly, Mrs. Tom (Janet
Belle) Stephens of Columbus, Ohio, and Mrs. Dana (Marla Kay) Pennington of
Elkins.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several
nieces and nephews.
Also preceding him in death were one son, Jerry Lee Currence; five brothers,
Earl, Ford, Woodrow “Woody,” Cline and Marshall “Bud” Currence; and one
sister, Jemus Sonda.
Mr. Currence worked many years in the shipyards at Baltimore, Md., before moving
to Elkins. He then worked as a driver for the Reynolds Buslines for several
years and later drove for Guttman Oil and retired as a weighmaster for the West
Virginia Department of Highways. He was a member of Randolph Lodge No. 55
AF&AM of Beverly.
Friends may call at the Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday from the funeral home
chapel with Pastor Terry A. Burgess and the Rev. Walter Blough officiating.

Robert L. Curtis
Robert Lee "Bob" Curtis, 67, a resident of Ferguson Road, Elkins,
passed away Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at 8:25 p.m. in Ruby Memorial Hospital, where
he had been a patient for the past two weeks. He had been in failing health for
the past three years, however, his condition had become critical since suffering
a severe stroke on Jan. 13, 2003.
He was born May 30, 1935, at Weston, a son of the late Bailey B. and Stelma G.
Waggoner Curtis.
He is survived by two daughters, Cecilia "Patty" Curtis and companion,
David A. McCarty and Sherrie Lyne Curtis, both of Elkins; two sons, Charles
"Chuck" Curtis and companion, Betty, of Stalnaker Run, and William
Bradley "Brad" Curtis and wife, Barbara "Bobbi", of Elkins;
and two sisters, Charlotte "Butch" Rainey of Buckhannon, and Sandra
Louk of Cleveland, Ohio.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Linda Lutisha and Crystal Elaine Curtis,
Carolyn Nicole Lamb, Mariah Faith Curtis, Andrew "Andy" Coleman Story,
Rocky, JJ, Sheryl and Tabitha Wood; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death besides his parents is one son, infant Kenneth Lee
Curtis.
He was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1953. He was a
blueprint engineer for the West Virginia State Department of Highways for
several years and retired in 1997 from Coastal Lumber Co. as a boiler man.
He was an avid Model builder and outdoors man. He was an enthusiast of the Civil
War. He attended the Crystal Springs Community Church and was a Methodist by
faith.
He was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army, having served during the
Vietnam Conflict for 12 years. When he was discharged he joined the National
Guard, where he remained on active duty until retiring.
Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel after 6 p.m.
Tuesday. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner chapel on Wednesday
at 1 p.m. Pastor Terry Cannon of the Believers Fellowship and the Shiloh Baptist
Church will officiate. Entombment will follow. Full military services will be
accorded by the Tygart Valley Post 3647 and the H.W. Daniels Post 29, American

Odie E. Cutlip
Odie E. Cutlip, 74, of Buckhannon, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 200, at his
home.
Mr. Cutlip was born Jan. 22, 1929, in Marlinton, the son of the late Philip
Sheridan and Gertrude May Adkins Cutlip.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalea Ware Cutlip, whom he married on June 19,
1997.
Mr. Cutlip was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Mr. Cutlip worked as a maintenance personnel member at the Bi-Centennial Motel.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter, as well as serving as a member of Muskie
Inc. of West Virginia and the Husky Muskie Club.
A memorial service will be held at the House of Praise on 41 Cleveland Ave.,
Buckhannon, Saturday at 10 a.m. with Pastor George Jenkins officiating. Tomblyn

Charles C. Cutright
Charles Coy Cutright, 62, of Route 2, French Creek, Alton Road, died at his
home Wednesday, April 2, 2003, under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice.
He was born Dec. 25, 1940, at Indian Camp, a son of the late Curt Cutright and
Thelma Zickefoose Cutright, who survives at Route 2, French Creek.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Linda Carpenter Cutright,
whom he married on March 8, 1968; one son, Scott Allen Cutright and wife,
Janice, of French Creek; one son-in-law, Lawrence Detamore of Route 2, French
Creek; two granddaughters, Cassandra and Ashley Detamore of Route 2, French
Creek; and one sister, Madeline Thomas of French Creek.
Mr. Cutright was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
He retired from Corharts after 31 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and
feeding the wildlife.
Friends will be received Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Heavner & Cutright

David E. Cutright
David E. Cutright, 52, of Wheeling, departed this life Sunday, May 25, 2003.
Born Sept. 28, 1950, in Valley Head, Mr. Cutright was the son of the late Denver
and Louise Morgart Cutright.
Mr. Cutright was a loving husband, father and brother; a retired production
manager with Greif Bros. Corp. of Washington, Pa.; a member and trustee of the
Elm Grove Eagles; and he was Pentecostal by faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son; two
brothers, Robert and Larry Cutright; and a sister, Judy Marsh.
Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Sharla Armstrong Cutright; a daughter,
Connie Cutright; a son, David E. Cutright II and his companion, Michelle, all of
Wheeling; three brothers, Lloyd Cutright of Morgantown, John Cutright of Tucson,
Ariz., and Dan Cutright of Nashville, Tenn.; four sisters, Genevieve Hamrick of
Valley Bend, Martha Wamsley of Mingo, Linda Sharp of Battle Ground, Ind., and
Mary Jo Hevener of Wheeling; several nieces and nephews; and his baby, “Mutley.”

Mary M. Cutright
Mary Maxine Cutright, 71, of Route 6, Buckhannon, the Tennerton Community,
died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
She was born Dec. 6, 1931, in Braxton County, a daughter of the late John Benton
McLaughlin and Ollie Roverta Young McLaughlin, who survives in Buckhannon.
She was united in marriage on Feb. 11, 1956, to George C. Cutright, who
survives.
In addition to her mother and husband, she is also survived by one son, John C.
Cutright of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Tammy Jean Cutright Miller and husband,
Steve, of Morgantown; two grandchildren, Kyle Steven Miller and Ryan Michael
Allen Miller, both of Morgantown; two sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Roberta) Hefner of
Fredericksburg, Va., and Mrs. George (Barbara) Dawson of French Creek; one
brother, James Ernest McLaughlin of Rock Cave; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Cutright worked with child care in her home for 14 years. She enjoyed
caring for children.
Friends will be received at Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel today from 6
p.m. to 8 p.m. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel with
the Rev. Lloyd Tenney and Dr. Charles Godwin officiating. Interment will follow
