Cemetery: Varner,
also known as Gibson
- Gramp, Barbara - Re: Varner Cemetery. 23Mar2002.
The Galford Ancestry, by Lloyd Pritt Galford, Gateway Press, Inc.
1981. Page 579, Cemetery Location Directory. "Beginning at at
point where the Slatyfork Road leads West from U.S. Route 219 ...
proceed North on U.S. Rt. 219 for 2.45 miles just past a roadside
park on the right, then take a right at the first opportunity and
cross the stream. Then proceed on foot for approximately 600 steps
past a house, on the right, and two barns on the left, to the far
(upper) end of the meadow. The cemetery lies just beyond the meadow's
fence against a south-facing slope...". Thanks to Pritt Galford
for permission to quote cemetery directions from his book.
- Gramp, Barbara - Re: Varner Cemetery. 17April2004.
I think this is the same Varner Cemetery as Slaty
Fork/ Split Rock. However, the area has changed due to new development.
The last time I was there in 2000 (I think), the land was Posted and
I was not able to get in touch with the owner for permission.
