Mona Z. Hinkle

Mona Z. Hinkle, 97, of Franklin died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2006, at Pendleton Nursing Home in Franklin.

She was born Nov. 24, 1909, and was the daughter of the late Charles J. Landes and Freddie Judy Landes.

She was a homemaker and was a member of the Franklin Seventh-day Adventist Church. 

On Feb. 13, 1932, she married Teddy Hinkle, who preceded her in death Nov. 10, 1964.

Survivors include a daughter, Naomi Troutman of LaVale, MD; a son, Edwin Hinkle of Franklin; six grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday at the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.  Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery at Franklin.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11;00 a.m. Friday until the time of the service. 

Alice Adamson

Mary Alice Adamson, 86, of Fort Seybert, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006, at Pendleton Nursing Home in Franklin.

She was born Nov. 6, 1920, in Fort Seybert and was the daughter of the late Fred Teter and Cleda Puffenbarger Teter.

She was a teacher for 25 years and a member of the Fairview-Bethel United Methodist Church at Fort Seybert. 

On Jan. 31, 1940, she married Olin C. Adamson, who survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Jane Ann Conrad of Fort Seybert; three sons, Robert O. Adamson Benjamin L. Adamson, both of Fort Seybert, and William H. Adamson of Naporville, IL, and  of Fort Seybert; two brothers, Eston Teter of Fort Seybert and, H. Byrd Teter of Franklin; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at press time and under the direction of the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin. 

Mary J. Michael

Mary Jane Anderson Michael, 72, of Bridgewater, VA, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at her home.

She was born in Rockingham County on March 4, 1934, and was a daughter of the late George and Meda (Miller) Anderson.

She was a member of Briery Branch Church of the Brethren. She had worked for Metro Pants and Shen-Mar Poultry.

She was united in marriage on June 28, 1956, to Donald F. "Dude" Michael, who died Oct. 6, 1993.

She is survived by two daughters, Diane Hiner and husband, Joe of Harrisonburg, VA, and Donna Michael Spiers and husband, Tim of Bridgewater, VA; three grandsons, Ben Hiner and wife, Jenifer of Camp Pendleton, CA, and Adam Hiner and wife, Kelly of Shenandoah, VA; one granddaughter, Jessica Spiers of Bridgewater, VA; two great-granddaughters, Madeline Hiner of Shenandoah, VA, and Kenzy Hiner of Camp Pendleton, CA; three sisters, Jean Lambert of Fredericksburg, VA, Helen Sheffer of Dayton, VA, and Kitty Hosaflook of Staunton,. VA; and four brothers, George Anderson Jr. of Upper Tract, Robert Anderson of Dayton, VA, and Fred Anderson of Bridgewater, VA.

A graveside service was conducted at Briery Branch Church Cemetery Tuesday, with Pastor Randy Cosner officiating.

Mary R. Kimble

Mary R. Kimble, 85, of Upper Tract died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at her home.

Mrs. Kimble was born Feb. 3, 1921, in Petersburg, and was the daughter of the late John Kimble and Gertrude Mongold Kimble.

She retired from the Prince George County, Maryland Board of Education and was a member of Upper Tract United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Kennie C. Kimble, on Oct. 8, 2006.

Survivors include a son, Clyde Junior Kimble of Sunnyvale, TX; three daughters, Treva Margaret Smith of St. Leonard, MD, Judy Fae Laurie of Chesapeake Beach, MD, and Debra Kay Heinhorst of Henrico, NC; a sister, Hicle Rexrode of Summersville, MD; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Carroll Keith Kimble; one daughter, Frances Ann Shira; four sisters, Leota Kesner, Edna Irene Waggy, Agnes Mae Dean and Dorothy Alice Kimble; and four brothers, Ira James Kimble, John Bernard Kimble, Junior Theodore Kimble and Sheldon Donald Kimble.  

The Rev. Gary Phillips conducted the funeral Tuesday at the Upper Tract United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Cherry Hill Cemetery in Upper Tract by Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.

Margaret A. Snyder

Margaret Ann Snyder, 65, of Franklin and formerly of Baltimore, MD, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg, VA.

Mrs. Snyder was born Nov. 16, 1941 in Garrett County,  Oakland, MD and was a daughter of the late Henry McCullough Ridder and Frances Helen Hinebaugh.

She worked in the fitting department oat Samuel Kirk and Company Silversmiths and was a hostess at the Rendezvous Lounge in Baltimore, MD.  She attended Oakland, MD, schools.  

She was married to Fred Snyder, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are a longtime companion, John Pikering of Baltimore, MD; two daughters, Shirley Ann Lambert of Franklin and Mary Catherine Andrezeyioske of Baltimore, MD; three brothers, Robert R. Ridder of Oakland, MD, James K. Schaffer and Thomas Kisner, both of Baltimore, MD; five sisters, Louise Kitzmiller of Oakland, MD, Linda Vaughn of Blackwater, VA, Patricia Jean Alfaro of Balitmore, MD, Helen Bray of Cumberland, MD, and Betty Harsh of Avon, OH, six grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by one son, John Wayne Snyder, and one sister, Sue Cornelius. 

Pastor Hilrey Heckler conducted the funeral Saturday at the chapel of Basagic Funeral Home, Franklin. Burial will be in Dry Run, Franklin.
