Bernard Bennett, 60

Bernard Lee Bennett, 60, a resident of Harrisonburg, VA, died December 1, 2004, at Martinsburg VA Center in Martinsburg, where he had been a resident for the past month.  

Mr. Bennett was born on January 14, 1944, in Brandywine and was the son of Emanuel Bennett of Brandywine and the late Thelma Jane Eckard Michael and stepson of Donnie E. Michael. 

He served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman during the Vietnam from 1964 to 1967.  He worked for Pilgrim's Pride Breeder Division, now Ag Forte.  He loved amateur softball and carried his team to many State "C" Championships. He was an avid outdoorsman.  As his health caught up with him, he began to take an interest in gardening. 

On March 17, 1967, he married the former Patsy Jean Gill who survives. 

Also surviving are a daughter Diana L. Feddon, Harrisonburg, VA; two sons, Ricky Bennett and wife Cathy of Brandywine and Donald Bennett, Hinton, VA; two sisters, Judy Charlton, Grottoes, VA, and Linda Reese, Dayton, VA; three brothers, Steve Day, Clover Hill, VA, Jerry Eckard, Harrisonburg, VA, and Dave Day, Harrisonburg, VA; seven grandchildren, Krystal Reid, Sarah Reid, Joseph Feddon, Patrick Feddon, Colby Bennett, Sophia Bennett and Priscilla Bennett. 

He also is survived by his beloved cat, Snowball.

Dwayne Charlton conducted a funeral service Sunday at 12 noon at McMullen Funeral HOme Chapel, Harrisonburg, VA.  A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. at the Sugar Grove Cemetery in Sugar Grove.

Martha K. Foltz, 66

Martha Katherine Foltz, 66, of Brandywine died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, VA. 

Mrs. Foltz was born April 20, 1938, in Maryland and was a daughter of the late Harry Allen Delawder and Bertha Mae Dilvious Delawder. 

She retired from Wampler Foods. 

On Sept. 23, 1981, she married Carl W. Foltz, who survives. 

She is also survived by four daughters, Virginia Sampson of Brandywine, Nancy Miller of Winchester, VA, Pam Lewis of Gatesville, TX and Patricia Dove of Bridgewater, VA; three sons, Fred Ogle of Staunton, VA, Henry Brittingham of Luray, VA, and Daniel Foltz of Harrisonburg, VA; a sister, Mary Eichelberger of Thurmont, MD; a brother, Roy Delawder of Woodbine, MD; 21 grandchildren; and sex great-grandchildren.

Dr. Delmar Shoemaker conducted the funeral at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin. Burial was at Pine Hill Cemetery, Brandywine.

Martha Hartman, 71

Martha Geniel Hartman, 71, of Harrisonburg, VA, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Life Care Center in new Market, VA. 

Ms. Hartman was born July 11, 1933, at Smith Creek and was the daughter of the late John Esby Hartman and Mary Lena Simmons Hartman. 

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. 

surviving are a sister, Juanita Self of Mechanicsville, VA; three brothers, Ivan L. Hartman of Franklin, Charles Reese Hartman of Broadway, VA, and Emerson Hartman of Harrisonburg, VA; and an umber of nieces and nephews.  

Bishop David Hartman conducted the funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Kimble Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin.  Burial was in the Hartman Family Cemetery in Franklin.
