Stanley R. Propst, 85

Stanley Reid Propst, 85, of Brandywine died Thursday morning, Nov. 30, 2006, at Pendleton Nursing Home in Franklin.

He was born April 25, 1921, in Brandywine and was the son of the late Martin Frank Propst and Julia Ann Dickenson Propst.

He was a farmer and a member of the Martin Luther Lutheran Church at Brandywine.

He is survived by two sisters, Irene Stone of Harrisonburg, VA, and Shirley Rexrode of Brandywine, a brother-in-law, Paul Mitchell of Bridgewater, VA, one niece, Sue Nickels; two nephews, Richard Lough and Gerold O. Pitsenbarger; two great-nephews; and one great-niece.

He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Lough and Delsie Mitchell, and one brother Tyson Propst. 

Graveside services were held Saturday at the  Propst Family Cemetery on the family farm in Brandywine with Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. 

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.

Donald L. Moyers

Donald Lee Moyers, 70, of Camp Springs, MD, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, at his home.

Mr. Moyers was born Oct. 31, 1936, in Zigler (Franklin) and was the son of the late Ralph Moyers and Nettie Hartman Moyers.

He graduated from Franklin High School in 1956. He retired from the Coca-Cola Bottling Company after 31 years of employment and later worked for Guest Services. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

On Dec. 28, 1957, he married Linda Kimble, who survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Krystal Pettko and husband, Steve of Waldorf, MD; two sons, Donald Moyers Jr. of Dover, PA, and Darrell Moyers of Washington, DC; two sisters, Rita Hevener and Brenda Lambert, both of Franklin; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Moyers.

Bishop Ronnie Kimble and Elder David Hartman conducted the funeral Wednesday at the Franklin Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial was at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin.

Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Anna M. Kratzer, 83

Anna Margaret Waggy Kratzer, 83, of Verona, VA, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, at her home.

Mrs. Kratzer was born Nov. 21, 1923, in Brandywine and was a daughter of the late Bessie Waggy Sites.

She had been making her home in Verona, VA, since 1979. She was a member of St. Jacob’s (Spaders) Lutheran Church.

On June 29, 1946, she married Wallace Howard Kratzer; he survives.

Also surviving are three children, Donnie Kratzer of Pennsville, NJ, Wallace Lee Kratzer of Elkton, VA, and Connie A. Short of Churchville, VA; a brother, Charles Ellis Waggy of Verona, VA; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
 
The Rev. Dianna Horton conducted the funeral Saturday at St. Jacob’s (Spaders) Lutheran Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home, Harrisonburg, VA, was in charge of the arrangements.
