Christine Brown Jones

Christine Brown Jones, 39, of North Little Rock, AR, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Little Rock, AR. 

Mrs. Jones was born Mach 11, 1964, Harrisonburg, VA, and was the daughter of E. Hadley Brown and Dorothy Campbell Brown. 

She was a cosmetologist and had worked at Gap Stores.  she was a 1982 graduate of Franklin High School and the Ohio State School of Cosmetology.  She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Franklin.  

In addition to her parents , she is survived by her husband, David R. Jones, two sisters, Luci Brown, Buffalo, WY, and Barbara A. Key, Franklin; one brother, Eugene Brown, Midlothian, VA, and several nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. tonight at the Basagic Funeral hHome in Franklin.  

The Rev. David Fisher will conduct the funeral at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin.  Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin.

John O. Sponaugle 

John O. Sponaugle, 76, of Franklin, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, near his home.  

Mr. Sponaugle was born April 8, 1927, in Hunting Ground and was the son of the late Norman Sponaugle and Ardenie Bennett Sponaugle. 

He retired as a Sgt. 1st Class from the Army in 1972 after 21 years of service.  He had also been employed by the Town of Franklin in the maintenance department for eight years.  He was a Baptist. 

He is survived by his wife, Dora Bennett Sponaugle. 

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Comie, Coy, Kennie and Theodore; and three sisters, Mazie Belle Sponaugle, Hicel Hartman and Georgia Raines. 

Pastor Bruce Gray conducted the funeral 2 p.m. Monday at the Chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin.  Burial was at North Fork Memorial Cemetery in Riverton with military rites by the Pendleton county Veterans Honor Guard.

Loretha Evaline Propst

Loretha Evaline Propst, 84, of Franklin, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at her home. 

Mrs. Propst was born FEb. 12, 1919, in Moyers and was the daughter of the late Ernest Frank Rader and Beulah Florence Mitchell Rader. 

She was a homemaker and a member of Faith Lutheran Church. 

Her husband, Jesse Owen Prost, preceded her in death Sept. 27, 1975.  

She is survived by a daughter, Maggie Florence Tarrant, Franklin; a son and daughter-in-law, Ernie and June Propst, Franklin; three grandchildren, Dale Kile, Sherri Schaefer and James William Kile; four step-grandchildren, Marlin Raines, Danny Raines, Lois Waggy and Anita Huffman; three great-grandchildren, Robert Schafer, Garrett Kile and Gage Kile; and eight step-great-grandchildren, Chandra Raines, Marlena Raines, Matt Hsriver, Julie Waggy, William Waggy, Ashley Johnson, Rachael Johnson and Hunter Huffman.  

She was preceded in death by one sister, Carrie Louella Rader. 

The Revs. Paul Schafer and Stanley Kile conducted the funeral 11 a.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church in Franklin.  Burial was at the Pitsenbarger cemetery, Dry Run Road in Franklin. 

Memorial donations may be made to the South Fork Rescue Squad. 

Arrangements were under the direction of the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin.  

Lindbergh D. Kimble, 76

Lindbergh D. "Lindy" Kimble, 76, of Springfield, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at the Veterans Medical Center Nursing Home in Martinsburg. 

Mr. Kimble was born June 23, 1927, in Champwood and was the son of the late Guy Kimble and Tresie Shreve Kimble. 

He was retired from Vepco and served in the U.S. Army and Navy.  He was a member of the Romney Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. 

 His wife, Cordelia Sue Judy Kimble, survives. 

Also surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law, Guy and Karen Kimble, and Patrick and Mary Kimble, all of Keyser, Richard Lynn Kimble of Fort Ashby, and David and Debbie Kimble of St. Cloud, FL; two daughters and son-in-law, Linda and Donald Tucker, and Joyce Kimble, all of Lake Mary, FL; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Maxine Bowman of Oveito, FL, Nina McCarty, and Tina and Robert Alt, all of Keyser, Shriley Baldwin of Ridgley, and Sue Ann and Gary Itnyre of Virginia Beach, VA; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Shirley Kimble of Keyser; 10 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.  

Bishop David Bradley and Elder Tom Kimble conducted the funeral 11 a.m. Tuesday at Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.  Burial was in the bowers cemetery in Upper Tract.  Military graveside rites were performed by the Combined Veteran Organizations of Grant County and the Petersburg High School JROTC.

William E. Hottinger, 87

William E. Hottinger, 87, of Romney, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, at the Hamsphire Center in Romney. 

Mr. Hottinger was born Dec. 28, 1915, inFort Seybert and was the son of the late Simon Hottinger and Ruth Coffman Hottinger. 

he was a retired conservation officer with the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources. 

Coming from Brandywine, Mr. Hottinger became a resident of Romney in 1964.  He was a member of the first United Methodist Church, Romney, where he served on the Altar Guild; Wappacoma VFW Post 1101, Romney, Post 91 American Legion, Romney and a lifetime member of the NRA.  
He was a past Master for the Pendleton Masonic Lodge #144 AF&AM, Franklin; a member of Clinton Masonic Lodge #86 AF&AM, Romney; Past Patron of Order of the Eastern Star #138, Franklin Chapter, Franklin; and a member of the Romney Chapter #84 Order of the Eastern Star, Romney.  A World War II Army veteran, Mr. Hottinger was awarded the Purple Heart. 

Survivors include his wife, Ruth (Ritchie) Hottinger of Romney; two daughters, Dorothy Sharples of Westbrook, CT, and Loretta Hottinger of Mt. Vernon, NY; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were conducted at the First United Methodist church, Romney, on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Douglas N. Shepherd officiating.  Masonic graveside services were conducted by the Clinton Masonic Lodge #86 AF&AM, Romney.  A memorial service was also held on Friday at 7:00 p.m. at the Shaffer Funeral Home by the Romney Chapter #84 Order of the Eastern Star. 

Interment was in the Indian Mound Cemetery at Romney.

Ruby T. Martin, 89

Ruby T. Martin, 89 of Ripley, wife of W.R. "Red" Martin, passed away Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston, following a long illness. 

She was born Feb. 22, 1914, the daughter of Alfred and Alpha Johnson of Hugheston and lived many years in Boone County. 

Since 1978, the Martins have spent a lot of time in Pendleton County, especially near the Deer Run area. 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Nancy Davis of South Carolina; son, R. David "Butch" Martin of Richmond, VA; three grandsons, William Scott Davis, Andrew Martin and Nicholas Reid Martin; and six sisters, Dolores Stinnett of Georgia, Phyllis Jean Mathias of Florida, Rosalie Dransfield of Ohio, Pauline Puckett of Hugheston and Charlotte Henderson and Louise Himes, both of Delaware.  

Mrs. Martin was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Epworth United Methodist Church in Ripley, GFWC-Woman's Club of Ripley and enjoyed ceramic crafting.  She was a graduate of Charleston Beauty College and was a licensed beautician until she was past 80 years of age.  She had shops in both Ravenswood and Ripley.

Funeral service was held Nov. 26 at the Epworth United Methodist Church in Ripley with Dr. Kenneth Krimmel officiating.  Burial was in the Jackson County Memorial Gardens of Cottageville.   

Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church, 299 N. Church St., Ripley, WV  25271. 

Arrangements were under the direction of Vail Funeral Home, Ripley.
