Lois Irene Kibler, 63

Lois Irene Kimbler, 63, of Fort Seybert, died Saturday, November 27, 2004 at her home. 

She ws born March 26, 1941, at Exchange, PA, and was the daughter of the late Ivan Clark Chandler and Helen Lawton Chandler.  

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed spending time at the Pendleton Senior Center in Franklin. 

On June 19, 1982, she married Frederick Joseph James Kimbler, who preceded her in death. 

Surviving are one daughter, Rhonda Lu Rawson; one son, Martin Lee Rawson of Fort Seybert; two sisters, Carolyn Chandler of  West Milton, PA, Mary Butler of Brodnax, VA; four brothers, Arden Chandler of Fredonia, NY, Elmer Chandler of Rome NY, Arnold Chandler of Holcomb, NY, and Harvey Chandler of Jacksonville, FL and ten grandchildren.  

A memorial service was held at the Kimble Funeral Home Chapel, Franklin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor Mark James officiating. 

Burial was at Twin Hills in Montoursville, PA. 

Denisa L. Alt, 79 

Denisa L. "Boots" Alt, 79, of Petersburg Died Sunday, NOv. 28, 2004, at Grant Memorial Hosptial in Petersburg. 

Mrs. Alt was born Dec. 21, 1924, in Upper Tract and was the daughter of the late Daniel Alt and Eula Sears Judy Parker.  

She retired in 1984 from the A & P Store in Petersburg.  She was a member of the Petersburg Presbyterian Church and a member of the VFW Post No. 6454 Ladies Auxiliary and American Legion Post No. 78 Ladies Auxiliary of Petersburg.  

Her husband, Berkley Snowden Alt, preceded her in death on Aug. 13, 1965.  

Surviving are a daughter, Rebecca A. Hammer of Petersburg; a son, Dr. Benjamin D. Alt of Louisville, KY; two sisters, Eleanor Dawson of Petersburg and Martha Runions of Lahmansville and two grandchildren. 

The Rev. Richard Cardot conducted the funeral at the Petersburg Presbyterian Church.  Burial was in the Lahmansville Cemetery in Lahmansville by Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Petersburg High School Scholarship Fund, 18 North Main St., Petersburg, WV.   

Verona Pitsenbarger

Verona Pitsenbarger of Franklin passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2004, at the Pendleton Nursing Home following a long illness. 

She was born June 25, 1911, and was the daughter of the late John and Estella Dahmer. 

She graduated from Franklin High School in 1931 and was married later that year to A. Russell Pitsenbarger, who passed away in 1973. 

Her early life was spent in the Dahmer community but then moved to Franklin in 1955. 

After her health declined, she lived for several years with her daughter, Arvella Blair, in the Mossy Creek community of Augusta County, VA. 

Mrs. Pitsenbarger took keen interest in her family, community, church and garden. 

She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church after moving to Franklin and attended Mossy Creek Presbyterian Church when in Virginia. While a homemaker much of her life, she also did a lot of baby sitting, worked in the Pendleton County Head Start Program and retired from the Hanover Shoe Company. 

She is survived by a daughter, Arvella Blair and her husband, Bill of Mount Solon, VA; two grandchildren. Tom Blair and wife Ellen of Arlington, VA, and Anne Barnes and husband, Jim of Harrisonburg, VA; and three great-grandchildren, Jimmy Logan Barnes and John and Catherine Blair, four sisters, Elvira Crummett and Arla Sponaugle, who reside at the Pendleton Nursing Home, and Ella Mullenax and Jenny Vandevander, both of Franklin; a brother, John Arvin Dahmer of Pendleton Retirement Community.  

She also was preceded in death by a sister, Estella Rose, in 1936. 

Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 3:00 p.m. by Rev. Craig Richter, Rev. Patrick Pettit and Dr. Cecil Bradfield at Faith Lutheran Church in Franklin. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery by Basagic Funeral Home, Franklin. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Pendleton Nursing Home, PO Box 700, Franklin, WV 26807 or Mountain Hospice, 1410 Crim Avenue, Belington, WV  26250 or The Pendleton County Rescue Squad, PO Box 727, Franklin, WV  26807.  

Clyde Hedrick, Jr., 57

Clyde J. Hedrick, Jr., 57, of Franklin died Monday, November 22,2 004, at Mount Olive. 

He was born Jan. 31, 1947, at Washington, DC and was the son of Lydia Manchester Schap of Englewood, FL, and the late Clyde J. Hedrick, Sr.

He graduated from Anne Arundel High School and Calhoon MEDA Engineering School in Baltimore, MD. 

Mr. Hedrick served as first engineer in the U.S. Merchant Marine.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by one brother, Richard "Rick" Hedrick of Weyers Cave, VA; and a number of cousins.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice. 

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.  

Harlan R. Moyers

Harlan Richard Moyers, 81, of Franklin died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at his residence while surrounded by his family.  

Mr. Moyers was born Nov. 26, 1923, in Franklin and was a son of the late Hugh Moyers and Gertrude Mauzy Moyers Simmons. 

He served in the Army Air Forces during World War II in the south Pacific as a crew chief on a C-47.  

After his service to this country, he owned and operated Moyers Gas Company and worked as a safety engineer with Stone and Webser Construction and later Daniels Construction Company. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1941 and attended Dunsmore Business School, the University of Richmond and Virginia Commonwealth University. 

He was a member of the VFW and American Legion and Walnut Street Methodist Church. 

He and his wife of 56 years, Cora Bennett Moyers, who survives, also farmed their land on the South Branch of the Potomac. 

Also surviving are two daughters, Jeanne Moyers Flinn and husband, Larry of Colonial Heights, VA, and Kathy Moyers Sponaugle and husband, George I. Sponaugle, II, of Franklin, four grandchildren, Stacia and Katrina Flinn of Richmond, VA, Isaac Sponaugle, III, of Franklin and Erin Sponaugle Blankenship of Savannah, GA; a sister, Louise Moyers Rexrode of Bridgewater, VA.  and a brother Lacy Evan Moyers of Lynchburg, VA.

He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Leslie Hugh Moyers and Maurice Mauzy Moyers, and a sister, Cornelia Grace Moyers. 

The Rev. David Fisher conducted the funeral at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Walnut Street United Methodist Church in Franklin.  Burial with military rites conducted by the Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard was in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin by Basagic Funeral Home, Franklin. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Walnut Street United Methodist Church or to the charity of choice.   

Connie M. Roach

Connie Marie Roach, 75, of Potomac Highlands Apartments, Franklin died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at her residence. 

Mrs. Roach was born March 30, 1929, in Riverton and was the daughter of the late Marvin Ruddle and Nina Warner Ruddle. 

She was a homemaker.  She graduated from Circleville High School.  She was a member of the United Brethren Church. 

Her husband, Joseph Edward Roach, preceded her in death July 11, 1994.  

Surviving are a duaghter, JoAnn Teter and husband, Charles of Circleville; two sons, Larry Roach of Franklin and Joseph E. Roach Jr. of Hagerstown, MD; two sister, JoAnn Smith of Circleville and Bonnie Roberts of Clinton, MD; three brothers, Harold Ruddle of Elkins, Marvin Morris Ruddle of Onego and Jerry Ruddle of Franklin; and three grandchildren.  

She also was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Jack Ruddle. 

The Rev. Barbara Rexrode will conduct the graveside funeral at 2 p.m. today at the North Fork Memorial Cemetery in Riverton. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice. 

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. today at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. 

Effie B. Gordon

Effie B. Gordon, 91, of Circleville died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2004, at GGrant Memorial Hospital.  

Mrs. Gordon was born Feb. 22, 1913, in Spruce Knob and was the daughter of the late Moses R. Bennett and Mary Ellen Kyle Bennett.

She was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith. 

Her husband, Harry Jay Gordon, preceded her in death on Jan. 25, 2003. 

Surviving are four daughters Bonnie Anderson of Eagle Rock, VA, Shelby Mullenax and husband, Bill of Harman, Sandra Lambert and husband, Eddie of Seneca Rocks and Wilma Lambert and husband, Johnny of Stuart, VA; three sons Randolph Gordon and wife, Nancy of Circleville, and Ronald Gordon and wife, Jane, and Donald Gordon and wife, Betty, all of Green Bank; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren ; and four great-great-grandchildren. 

She also was preceded in death by three half brothers and five half sisters. 

The Rev. Stanley Kile conducted the funeral at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin.  Burial was in the North Fork Cemetery in  Franklin.
