Gabrielle Reese Griffin

Gabrielle Reese Griffin, 21 months old, of Reno, NV, went to be with the Lord November 12, 2001, after an unexpected heart surgery at LA Children's Hospital.

Born January 20, 2000, in Phoenix AZ, she was a daughter of Donald K. and Erica Ogdahl Griffin of Reno, NV.

In addition to her parents she is survived by her older sister, Hailey Quinn Griffin; grandparents, Sherry and Mike McGinnis of San Francisco, CA, Charles Ogdahl of Iowa, and Roger and Mary (Bowers) Griffin of Scottsdale, AZ; great-grandparents, Esther Ogdahl, Palm Springs, CA, Norma Kunkle of Iowa and Virginia Bowers of Franklin; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.

Memorial services were held Saturday, November 17, 2001 at the Shadow Rock Church, Phoenix, AZ.

 

Denver J. Conrad, 82,

Denver Julius Conrad, 82, Maysville, died Saturday, November 24, 2001, at Grant County Nursing Home in Petersburg.

Mr. Conrad was born May 3, 1919, in Smoke Hole, and was the son of the late Gabriel Conrad and Cora Landis Conrad.

He was a World War II Army Veteran of the Korean War and was a retired custodian at Petersburg High School. He also worked for the West Virginia Department of Highways.

Mr. Conrad was also a member of the United Methodist Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

His wife, Verda Ethel Judy Conrad, preceded him in death in 1964.

He is survived by three daughters, Jennifer Weese and Marcella Ruth Hinkle, both of Maysville, and Norma Jean Bible, Petersburg; two step-daughters, Ella Sue Trubo of Harrisonburg, VA, and Virginia Goding, Orlando, FL; two sons, Jearl Wayne Conrad, Cumberland, MD, and Jackie Lynn Judy, Maysville; one brother, Carl Conrad, Petersburg; nine grandchildren, Willie Patch, Frankie Weese, Baron and Jodi Bible, J.R., Carla and Whitney Hinkle, Stephanie Judy and Kevin Conrad; one great-grandchild, Kaylee Bible; and two step-grandchildren, Nici Lytton and Sharon Trumbo.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Conrad was preceded in death by six brothers, Leter, Glenn, Charlie, Philip, Emmett and Bryson Conrad; and five sisters, Minnie Kimble, Laura Shreve, Nellie Bergdoll, Annie Nelson and Alice Conrad.

The Revs. Paul Dye and Greg Blaine conducted the funeral Tuesday at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg. Burial was in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Petersburg with military graveside services by the Petersburg VFW and DAV organizations accompanied by the Jr. ROTC of Petersburg High School.

 

Ronald K. Light, 56

Ronald K. Light, 56, of Pilot, VA, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2001, in the VA Medical Center.

He spent many years as an outdoorsman. Mr. Light was a veteran of Vietnam. He worked 25 years with the Virginia Department of Transportation, Salem Residency.

Mr. Light is survived by his wife, Julia Webb Light of Pilot, VA.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Mildred Light of Pilot, VA; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jerry and Teresa Light of Pearisburg, VA, and Jason Light of Raleigh NC; one sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Wayne Correll of Roanoke, VA; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvin and Beverly Light of Vinton, VA, Wendell and Dianne Light and (twin) Donald Ray and Beverly Light, all of Pilot VA; brother-in-law and spouse, Gary and Barbara Webb of Riner, VA; special cat, Snyder; several aunts and uncles; and nieces and nephews.

Mr. Light's wife is the granddaughter of the late Dock and Maggie Harper of Blue Grass, VA. Her mother was the lateMabel H. Webb, foremrly from Highland County but whom resided all of her married life near Radford, VA, with her husband, the late Perry Mack Webb.

He was preceded in death by his father, Forrest Light, Aunts, Edith Shelton, Martha Shelton and Allene Criner; uncles, James Dobbins, Glenn Wimer and Frank Shelton; and nephew, Phillip Correll.

Graveside services were held October 24, 2001, at St. Matthews Cemetery with Rev. Vinton Quesenberry officiating.

Arrangements were by Gardner Funeral Home, Floyd, VA.

Pauline C. McCoy, 81

Pauline C. McCoy, 81 of New Creek, died Friday, November 23, 2001, at the Hampshire Health Care Center, Romney.

Born on May 10, 1920, at Mozer, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Esta Susan (Riggleman) Miller. She was also preceded by her husband, Glenn McCoy, on January 27, 1984.

Mrs. McCoy owned and operated McCoy's Grocery for over 35 years. She was a member of the Sunnyside Church of the Brethren where she taught Sunday School for several years.

She is survived by three sons, Allen McCoy and wife, Alicia, Oklahoma City, OK, Donald McCoy and wife, Diana, Keyser, and Thomas McCoy and wife, Judi, New Creek; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by one son, Arnold G. McCoy; two brothers, John R. Miller and Roy Miller; and one sister, Hazel Vandevander. Mrs. McCoy was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Funeral services were conducted at the Sunnyside Church of the Brethren on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Herman L. Baliles and Rev. Ed Weaver officiating.

Interment was at the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
