Norman Cunningham

Norman Cunningham, 69, of Bennett Gap Road in Riverton, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at his home.

Mr. Cunningham was born Aug. 12 1935, in Riverton and was the son of the late Mason Thompson and Zadie Cunningham Lee.

He was employed at the Swift Poultry Plant in Harrisonburg, VA, for 25 years and had worked in maintenance at the Seneca Rocks Visitor Center.  He was a member of Riverton United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a sister, Marie Pitsenbarger and husband, Arthur Wade, of Franklin;  two nieces, Marsha Hamlin of Manassas, Va., and Melinda Hammer of Franklin, a nephew Jimmy Warner of Franklin; two uncles and several cousins.

The Rev. Barbara Rexroad conducted the funeral at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin.  Burial was at the Hinkle Family Cemetery in Riverton. 

Memorial donations may be made to the Pendleton County Rescue Squad.  

Betty D. Propst, 72

Betty Dice Kimble Propst, 72, of Bridgewater, VA, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at her home. 

Mrs. Propst was born Nov. 20, 1932, and was a daughter of the late Clinton R. and Marguerite Dice Kimble. 

She was a member of the Clover Hill United Methodist Church and the Outreach Sunday School Class. 

On March 26, 1955, she married Ralph Jean Propst, who survives. 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son , Alan G. Propst of Bridgewater, VA; two brothers, Raymond Kimble of Ashland, VA, and Reed Kimble of Franklin; and three sisters, Phyllis Frye of Silver Spring, MD, and Kitty Swanda and Nancy Gonshor, both of Franklin. 

The Rev. Robert N. Hoskins conducted the funeral 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Clover Hill United Methodist Church.  Burial followed in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin.

Betty H. Harper

Betty H. Harper, 77, of Franklin died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at the home of her daughter, Judy Waggy. 

Mrs. Harper was born Dec. 23, 1926, in Moyers and was a duaghter of the late Ernest "Clem" Hoover and Mary Jane Rexrode Hoover. 

She was employed at Max Ruddle's Sawmill and Marvel Poultry.  She was a cook at Franklin Elementary School and had worked at Hanover Shoe Company from 1967-1992, when she retired.

Mrs. Harper was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church. 

On April 25, 1942, she married Arnold M. Harper, who preceded her in death March 18, 1994. 

She is survived by a daughter, Judy H. Waggy and husband Sheldon "Sam" of Franklin and a son Larry "Chip" Harper and wife, Sara of Franklin; two sisters, Iva Harper and Bonnie Wimer, both of Franklin; a half sister, Shirley Joseph of  Brandywine; a brother, Harry O. Hoover of Moyers; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. 

Pastors Craig and Wendy Richter and Dr. Cecil Bradfield conducted the funeral at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Moyers.  Burial was in the Harper family cemetery by Kimble Funeral Home, Franklin.
