Steve Senic, 88

Steve Senic, 88, of Franklin, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 14, 2001, at the Pendleton Nursing Home.

He was born Sept. 9, 1913, in Galitzen, PA, and was a son of Joseph and Mathilda Gabor Senic.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Senic was preceded in death by two wives, Lelia S. Meadows and Plina H.B. Senic.

He is survived by one daughter, Betty Dixon and her husband, Charles, of McGaheysville, VA; one brother, Geroge Senic of Bowden; four stepsons, and their wives, Elwood and Louise Bartlett, C.L. and Susan Bartlett, and Thomas and Tammy Bartlett; two grandchildren, Melody Dalen of Franklin, and Stephany Flory of McGaheysville, VA; four great-grandhcildren, Kyla and Seth Roach, and Emma and Sara Dalen; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Friday, Nov. 16, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of the Pendleton Nursing Home in Franklin with the Rev. Paul O'Gorek officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Residents' Endowment Fund, Pendleton Nursing Home, PO Box 700, Franklin, WV 26807.

Kyger & Trobaugh Funeral Home handled local arrangements.

 

Allan Wayne Yokum, 39

Allan Wayne Yokum, 39, of Keyser, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001, at Nella's Nursing Home in Elkins.

Mr. Yokum was born Aug. 29, 1962, in Martinsburg and was the son of Bernice Heavener Yokum and the late Dwight Wilson Yokum of Maysville.

He was a 1980 graduate of Petersburg High School.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Deborah K. Chapman of Fredericksburg, VA; and a niece.

The Rev. Greg Rotruck conducted the funeral at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg. Burial was at Kline Cemetery in Upper Tract.

 

Sallie N. Sponaugle, 91

Sallie N. Sponaugle, 91, of Arbovale passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at the home of her daughter, Patricia Johnston in Arbovale.

Mrs. Sponaugle was born July 11, 1910, at Cherry Grove and was the daughter of the late Harness and Levy Moyers Sponaugle.

She was a member of the Thornwood Community Church and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert C. Sponaugle.

Surviving are five daughters, Marie O'Roark, Mt.Sidney, VA, Patricia Johnston, Arbovale, Myrtle gravely, Lithonia, GA, Juanita Taylor, Arbovale, and Sylvia Warner, Green Bank; two sons, Carl Sponaugle, Brodway, VA, andRalph Sponaugle, Knox, IN; three sisters, Betty Vandevander, Elkins, Iva sponaugle, Harrisonburg, VA, and Annie Kisamore, Cherry Grove; one brother, Omer Sponaugle, Harrisonburg, VA; 28 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Geraldine Blosser; two sisters,Mary Sponaugle, and Edith Sponaugle; four brothers, Oscar, Raymond, Olen and James Sponaugle; and one great-grandson.

 

Marvin Mullenax, Jr., 74

Marvin Dewey Mullenax, Jr., 74, of Greencastle, PA, and formerly of Chase, MD, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at Washington county Hospital.

Born Nov. 17, 1926, in Franklin, he was the son of the late Marvin Dewey and Anna Lee Moyers Mullenax.

He was a graduate of Franklin High School calss of 1945. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. He was a 1952 graduate of West Virginia University. He retired from the Department of Defense in 1988. He was a member of the Otterbein United Brethren Church in Greencastle, PA. He was a member of Harry D. Ziegler VFW Post 6319 in Greencastle, PA.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Underwood Mullenax; one daughter, Joan M. Cave of Greencastle, PA; two sisters, Susan M. Engle of Laurel, MD, and Tharon M. Orndorff of Shepherdstown; one brother, Hobert Mullenax of Upper Tract; and one graddaughter.

He was also preceded in death by one brother.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Nov. 17, at 2:30 p.m. at Otterbein United Brethren church, Greencastle, PA, with the Rev. David Rawley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Otterbein United Brethren Church Building Fund.
