Bunis Alonzo Stump, 88, Pendleton Nursing Home, Franklin, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg. He had lived at the nursing home since 1993.

Mr. Stump was born June 25, 1913, in Smoke Hole and was a son of the late Adam Grant Stump and Martha Jane Kimble Stump.

He was employed by the West Virginia Department of Highways and was an Army veteran of World War II and a paratrooper. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 78.

He is survived by a sister, Rhoda Bolin, Petersburg; a brother, Ersel Grant Stump, Martinsburg; four nieces and four nephews.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Quinten Stump; and one sister, Maysell Teter.

The Rev. Glen M. Sites conducted the funeral at 11 a.m. Monday at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg. Burial was at South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens in Petersburg with graveside rites by various military organization so fGrant County.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pendleton County Nursing Home or to the family.

Ervin Rexrode, 84, of Brownsville, TX, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at Brownsville Medical Center.

He was born on April 11, 1917, in Ft. Seybert to Glenn and Myra Eye Rexrode.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force (USAF) and was in World War II. After serving in the USAF, he was in the National Guard. He was a Mason and an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Brownsville.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Katherine Harness Rexrode, Dec. 12, 1988. His parents, and brother, Delton Rexrode, also preceded him in death.

He is survived by his second wife, Helen Owen Rexrode of Brownsville, TX, and his daughter, Mary Kay Loomis, and husband Steve Loomis of Reddingt, CN; three brothers, Virgil Rexrode and Paul Rexrode, both of Frnaklin and Fred Rexrode , Bridgewater , VA, two sister, Neva Hedrick , Columbus, OH, and Leafy Rexrode, Franklin.

A memorial service was held at 4 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 25, at the First United Methodist Church in Brownsville TX.

Tiny Helen Argogast Borror, 77, Onego, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins. She had lived at Nella's Nursing Home inElkins for the past two years.

Mrs. Borror was born Feb. 5, 1924, at Roaring Creek in Onego and was a daughter of the late jacob and Alice Helmick Arbogast.

Her husband, Orville Borror, died July 16, 1980.

She is survived by two sons, Roger Lee Heavener, Petersburg and Robert C. Borror, Huntington; two daughters, Mary Alice Hawks, Seneca Rocks, and Ruthie Elaine Michalides, Maysville; two sisters, Nola Dolly, Keyser, and Clara McCoy, Cumberland, MD; 10 grandhcildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one infant great granddaughter, Bessie Lloyd; four sisters; and six brothers.

Nelson Heatwole conducted the funeral at 11 a.m. Monday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. Burial was at the Arbogast Cemetery on Roaring Creek in Onego.

Joseph Allen Pence, 25, of Black Rock Trailer Park, Grottoes, VA, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at Avante Nursing Home as the result of injuries he received in an automobile accident in July.

Mr. Pence was born Sept. 1, 1976, in Rockingham county, and was a son of James and Cathy Vanmeter Pence of Grottoes, VA.

He had lived in the Franklin and Brandywine areas and attended Franklin High School. He was employed at Riddleberger Brothers.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Adam Pence of Criders, VA; four sisters, Candie Pence and Charlottte Pence, both of Harrisonburg, VA, and Jamie Pence and Anna Elizabeth Pence, both of Grottoes, VA; his grandfather Edward Pence, Harrisonburg, VA; grandmother, Annie Davis, Brandywine and his step-grandmother, Dorothy Vanmeter, Upper Tract.

The Rev. Richard "Dick" Reece conducted the funeral at 1 p.m. Friday at Cooks Creek Presbyterian Church. Burial followed at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements were under the direction of the McMullen Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, VA.
