Sean David Kisamore, 25 of Malden, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at his residence following a short illness.

Mr. Kisamore worked for the Goodwill Industries as a laborer. He attended the Dry Branch Community Church and he was a 1995 graduate of DuPont High School.

He is survived by his mother, Karen Kisamore; his father, David Dunlap, sister and brother-in-law, Stacie and Adam Sword of Malden; brothers, Thomas and Jeremy Dunlap, both of Malden; grandparents, Kathleen and Ival Kisamore of Malden; great-grandmothers, Kertie Harper of Onego and Irene Myers of Charleston; nieces, McKenzie and Emily Sword; aunts, Linda Ward of Rand, Alma McDaniel of Malden, Patricia Givens of Belle and Brenda Cook of Riverton; uncle Ival Kisamore, Jr., of Cabin Creek; and best friend Josh Samples of South Charleston. He will be missed by many family members and friends.

Service was held 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden with the Rev. David Crowder officiating. Entombment followed in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

Eston Seymour Nelson, 65 of Maysville, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

Mr. Nelson was born Sept 23, 1937, in Cabins and was a son of the late Denver H. Nelson and Leona Belle Alt Nelson.

He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 132 in Charleston. He was employed by Vepco in Mount Storm for 14 years and worked at Allegheny Mining for nine years.

Mr. Nelson was a member of the Petersburg Church of God, where he was a Sunday school superintendent and building maintenance chief. He was a member of the Lay Ministers Staff and former member of the Church and Pastors Council. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was an avid hunter and outdoor sportsman.

Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Maxine E. Nesselrodt Nelson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rocky A. Nelson and Patsy of Moorefield, and Eston Brent Nelson and Wendy of Sterling, VA; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda Sue Keplinger and Donald of Maysville; four sisters, Norma Mullenax and Carol Mullenax of Woodbridge, VA, Verda Kisamore of Louisa, VA, and Eunice Kisamore of Seneca Rocks; four brothers, Raymond Nelson of Maysville, Jackie Nelson of Shady Springs, Benny Nelson of Nashville, TN, and Larry Nelson of Cabins; four grandchildren, Brian L. Keplinger, Heather Nelson, Eric Keplinger and Traci Nelson; and one step-granddaughter, Shelly Reel.

Bishops Roy Dale Sharp and Douglas M. Cline conducted the funeral 2 p.m. Friday at the Petersburg Church of God. Burial was at the South Branch Memorial Gardens in Petersburg with military rites by the combined veterans organizations of Grant County and the JROTC.

Memorial donations may be made to the Petersburg Church of God.

Watler Galen Crummett, 76, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, in the Twin Brook Medical Center, Erie, PA.

Mr. Crummett was born June 25, 1926, in Jamestown, NY, and was a son of the late Galen and Minnie N. Crummett.

He was a graduate of Jamestown High School and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army from October 3, 1944, to July 17, 1946, in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theater. He was a hairdresser and owned and operated Walter's of Wilmette in Wilmette, IL, from 1949 until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of Lakewood Memorial Post 1286 American Legion.

His father Galen Addison Crummett, preceded him in death in 1969, his mother, Minnie N. Provaznik, in 1975, and his stepfather, Joseph A. Provaznik, in 1986. Paternal grandparents were the late Daniel Pinckney and Bessie Price Crummett of the Crummett's Run community.

Survivors are two stepbrothers, Maurice Provaznik of Minden, LA, and Eugene Provaznik of El Paso, TX

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Jamestown, NY. The Rev. John F. Pascoe, pastor of Lakewood United Methodist Church officiated.

Emeory Dean Fleisher, Sr., 71, of Franklin, died Wedneday, Oct. 30, 2002, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, VA.

Mr. Fleisher was born July 6, 1931, in Franklin and was a son of Charles William and Daisy Nell (Harper) Fleisher.

He had worked in the Maintenance Department of Hanover Shoe Company for 16 years. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Moyers and attended Christ Central Church at Upper Tract.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the VFW Post 9666 in Sugar Grove.

On July 30, 1955, he married the former Edith Waybright, who survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Elizabeth Alt of Petersburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Emory D. Fleisher, Jr., and Donna of Franklin and Michael D. Waybright and Evelyn of Fredericksburg, VA; two brothers, John R. Fleisher of Harrisonburg, VA, and Eston S. Fleisher of Franklin; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Edgar Null conducted a funeral service 2 p.m. Saturday at the Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell, VA. Burial was in the Blue Grass Cemetery, Blue Grass, VA.

Carl McRoy Bowers, 69, of Petersburg, died Sunday, Oct 27, 2002, at the Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA.

Mr. Bowers was born Dec. 3, 1932, in Upper Tract, and was a son of the late Carlie M. Bowers and Susie Jane Alt Bowers.

He was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 132 in Charleston. He was worthy patron of Petersburg Chapter 146 Order of the Eastern Star and a member and past master of Pendleton Lodge No. 144 A.F.& A.M., Franklin. He was also a 32nd degree mason and a member of Osiris Shrine of Wheeling.

Mr. Bowers served in the U.S. Army in France and was a member of the American Legion Post 78 of Petersburg. He was a member of Bethel Church of the Brethren and attended Gordon Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a charter member of Landes Ruritan Club.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Beverly Alt Bowers; a son, Mark E. Bowers of Harrisonburg VA; a daughter, Terri Lynn Bowers Davis of Brandenburg, KY; three sisters, Lois Jean Jordan of Petersburg, Doris Ann Collins of Baton Rouge, LA, and Deborah Mitchell of Kingwood, TX; three brothers, Ivan Bowers of Franklin, Elton Bowers of Glen Burnie, MD, and Lloyd Bowers of Moorefield; and four grandchildren, Thomas and John Bowers and Robbie and Amy Davis.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two infant sisters, Alice Faye Bowers and Dreama Grace Bowers; and one sister, Betty Jo (Bowers) Maris.

The Revs. Gary Phillips and Gregory Rotruck conducted the funeral 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. Petersburg Chapter 146 Order of the Eastern Star conducted services at the Funeral [Home] Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Burial was at Cherry Hill Cemetery, Upper Tract, with a Masonic graveside service by the Franklin Lodge No. 144 A.F.& A.M. and military rites by the combined veterans organizations of Grant County and the JROTC.
