 Dorothy Ann Crites, 47

Dorothy Ann Crites, 47, of Mountain Acres, Moorefield, died Tuesday Oct. 22, 2002, at her home.

Mrs. Crites was born Jan. 9, 1955, in Fauquier County, and was a daughter of the late Wilbert J. and Mary Strawderman Hartman.

She was a member of the Moorefield Church of God.

Surviving are her husband, Frank Crites, four brothers, Lee Hartman of Stanardsville, VA, W.J. Hartman, Jr., of Locust Dale, VA, Kenneth Hartman of Brandy Station, VA and Richard Hartman of Culpeper, VA; five sisters, Stella Wratchford of Moorefield, Betty Hartman of Old Fields, Catherine Gibson of Moorefield, Evelyn Zaun of Centerville, GA, and Judy Vandevander of Fort Seybert; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pastor Glendon Berg conducted a memorial service 2 p.m. Friday at the Church of God in Moorefield, where the family received friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Arrangements were by Fraley Funeral Home, Moorefield.

Nancy Huffman Flint, 64

Nancy Huffman Flint, 64, of Buena Vista, VA, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, at her home.

Mrs. Flint was born Sept. 17, 1938, in Buena Vista, VA and was a daughter of the late Francis Huffman and Cottie Floyd Huffman.

She was retired from Wagner Brothers and attended the Cornwall Church of God.

Surviving are her husband, Johnny M. Flint; one son, John Flint, Jr., Buena Vista, VA; one daughter, Brenda Vance of Upper Tract; two brothers, Herman Huffman of Glasgow, VA, and Daniel Huffman of Baltimore, MD: five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 pm. Wednesday at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with Pastor Walter Williamson officiating. Burial followed in the Green Hill Cemetery.

 

Evelyn May Teter Justice

Evelyn May Teter Justice, 85, of Mount Crawford, VA, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg VA.

Mrs. Justice was born Oct. 31, 1916, in Circleville and was a daughter of the late James Corbett Teter, who died in 1937, and Mary Etta Judy Teter, who died Aug. 13, 1993.

She was the owner and manager of the Valley Paint and Body Shop in Mount Crawford, VA, and Harrisonburg, VA. She graduated from Circleville High School in 1935 and attended RMH School of Nursing. She loved gardening, West Virginia history and reading.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, William Boyd Warner, Sr., and Robert "Guy" Justice.

Surviving are four daughters, Faye Fulk of Broadway, VA, Maxine Stanbaugh of Carlisle, PA, Margaret Henry of Beaufort, SC, and Mary Alice McCoig of Dandridge, TN; four sons, Richard Warner of Harrisonburg, VA, William Boyd Warner of Broadway, VA, Merle Guy Justice of Harrisonburg, VA and Robert James Justice of Dayton, VA; a sister, Virginia Thompson of Akron, OH; a nephew, lived with Mrs. Justice during his youth, Dale Alan Warner of Harrisonburg, VA; five brothers, Mason Teter of Carlisle, Pa, Jake Teter of Tallmadge, OH, Bill Teter, San Diego, CA, Lee Teter, Akron, OH, and Paul Teter of North Canton, OH; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Teter and Nola Teter.

The Rev. Lloyd Sprinkle conducted a graveside service 3 p.m. Thursday at Teter Gap Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Lions Club International.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin.

 

Goldie Anna Hedrick, 87

Goldie Anna Hedrick, 87, of Maysville, died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

Mrs. Hedrick was born Jan. 2, 1915, in Riverton and was the daughter of the late Elsie McDonald.

She was a member of Cabins Assembly of God Church and attended Mount Hebron United Methodist Church.

Her first husband, Raymond Nelson, preceded her in death in 1937, and her second husband, Walter Hedrick, died in 1963.

She is survived by a son, W. Leroy Hedrick of Maysville; three daughters, Ruth Raines of Cabins, Phyllis Aremtnrout of Seneca Rocks, and Diana Martin of Masyville; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were an infant grandson, Stanley Thomas Hedrick; and an infant great-grand-daughter, Jamie Elizabeth Teter.

The Revs. Rebecca L. Bennett and Stephen B. Landis will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. today at Mount Hebron Untied Methodist church. Burial will be at Mount Hebron Cemetery, Maysville.

The family received friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.

Memorial donations may be made to Cabins Assembly of God Church, Mount Hebron United Methodist Church or the Maysville Volunteer Fire Company.

 

Abraham Lincoln Sites, 82

Abraham Lincoln Sites, 82, of Dorcas, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

Mr. Sites was born Jan. 26, 1920, in Dorcas and was the son of the late Titus Grant Sites and Carrie Ann (Kile) Sites.

He was a lifelong poultry farmer and timberman. He operated the former Lincoln Texaco Station in Petersburg. He was a member of Sites Chapel in Dorcas and attended Dorcas Baptist church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Ruth (Crites) Sites, on June 13, 1998.

Surviving are one son, Estel Sites of Petersburg; two daughters, Frankie Mallow of Maysville and Louella Sites of Dorcas; one sister, Pearl Riggleman of Dorcas; four grandchildren, Rick Sites, Connie Adkins, Becky Hinkle and Steve Sites; and seven great-grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Cecil Sites and Charles Sites; and one sister, Ella Harper.

The Revs. Roger A. Harrison, Sr., and Paul D. Dye, William M. Haynes, Jr., conducted the funeral 10 a.m. Friday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. Burial was in the Sites Cemetery in Dorcas.

Sarah Marie Flory, 90

Sarah Marie Flory, 90, of Harrisonburg, VA, and formerly of Elkton, VA, died Monday, Oct, 21, 2002, at harrisonburg Health & Rehabilitation Center in Harrisonburg, VA.

Mrs. Flory was born Oct. 26, 1911, in Elkton, VA, and was the daughter of the late William and Hattie Dovel Deal.

She was a lifetime resident of the Elkton area, where she was a homemaker and a member of the Elkton United Methodist church.

On Feb. 3, 193, she married D.R. "Bud" Flory, who died Jan. 15, 1986.

Mrs. Flory is survived by three granddaughters, Maureen Burge and husbnad, John, Ypsilanti, MI, Stephany Flory, McGaheysville, VA, and Melody Flory-Dalen and husband, John, Franklin ;and six great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Pat Velanzon conducted a graveside service at 3 p.m. Saturday at Elk Run Cemetery at Elkton, VA.

The Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton, VA, was in charge of the arrangements.
