Randolph Paul Pitsenbarger, Sr., 76 of Staunton, VA, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at the Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville, VA.

Mr. Pitsenbarger was born Nov. 15, 1925, in Moyers and was a son of the late Oliver and Virginia Leach Pitsenbarger.

He retired from the A.S.R. Company in 1985. He was a member of the Totten Chapel Church in Moyers and attended the Southside Church of God in Staunton, VA.

Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Kathleen "Kelly" Barton Pitsenbarger, four sons, Garland Pitsenbarger, Gene Pitsenbarger and Randolph Pitsenbarger, Jr., all of Harrisonburg, VA, and Robert Barton of Buena Vista, VA; two daughters, Brenda Pitsenbarger of Harrisonburg, VA, and Rob Shanaholtz of Brandywine; two stepsons, Carl Barton and Doug Barton, both of Staunton, VA; a stepdaughter, Brenda Robinson of Vesuvius, VA; three brothers, Ralph Pitsenbarger and Harvey Pitsenbarger, both of Franklin, and Rembert Pitsenbarger of Eastlake, OH; two sisters, Bonnie Mickey of Brookpark, OH, and Marvel Earhart of Cascade, MD: 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren' and a number of nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Jay C. Morgan conducted a graveside service at Oak lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.

Velma C. Snyder, 86, of Moorefield, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

Mrs. Snyder was born Oct. 6, 1916, and was a daughter of the late Orie and Ella (Judy) Hinkle.

She was a member of the Davis Methodist Church.

Her husband, Charles A. Snyder, preceded her in death in May, 1996.

Surviving are two daughters, Ethel Coby of Moorefield, and Edna Dotson of Falls Church, VA; a brother, Ray Hinkle of Loch Lynn, MD; three sisters, Elsie Sponaugle of Franklin, Reba Guillams of Washington, D.C., and Geraldine Flower of San Bernardino, CA; six grandchidlren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Pastor Otis "Buzz" Weatherholt conducted the fuenra 1 p.m. Wednesday at Fraley Funeral Home in Moorefield. Burial was at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Davis Cemetery in Davis.

Lynn Dunkle Wood, 86, of Annadale, VA, died October 13, 2002, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Falls Church, VA, where she had been a resident for four and one-half years.

Born January 6, 1916, at Deer Run, she was a daughter of Wade Hampton and Lottie Eye Dunkle.

She is survived by two sisters, Chloe Keister, formerly of Upper Tract, and Neva Cunningham of Colonial Beach, VA; two step-children, Thomas M. Wood of Richmond, VA, and Suzanne Jeranson of Annandale, Va; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Wilson M. Wood died in 1987; and her brother, Paul, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Wood graduated from St. John's Academy, Petersburg and Pauline's Beauty School in Harrisonburg, VA. She owned and operated a beauty shop in Berryville, VA, for several years. After moving to Falls Church, VA, she became a real estate broker. She owned her own firm, Lynn Realty in Falls Church, VA, and later in Annandale, VA.

She was a member of the Annandale United Methodist Church, a life member of Faith Chapter of Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. She was also active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary for many years serving in a number of offices.

Funeral services were held Sunday, October 20th at Murphy Funeral Home in Falls Church, VA, with interment in the Annandale Methodist Church Cemetery.

Julia Jane Pennybacker, 67, of Sugar Grove, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at her home.

Mis Pennybacker was born March 24, 1935, at Sugar Grove and was a daughter of the late Courtney Boyd and Lydia F. (Puffenbarger) Pennybacker.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Brushy Fork Full Gospel Church.

She is survived by a sister, Mary Frances Pennybacker of Sugar Grove; a half-sister, Gertrude Simmons of Mt. Solon, VA; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and John Puffenbarger, and the other being an infant.

The Rev. William Strickler conducted the funeral 11 a.m. Monday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell, VA. Burial was in the Pennybacker family cemetery.

Mr. James Dyer Wilkins, 67, of Riverton, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at his home.

He was born April 1, 1935, at Franklin and was the son of the late Jack C. Wilkins and Dorothy Dyer Wilkins.

He was a farmer. He was of Circleville, Presbyterian Church, West Virginia Farm Bureau, a charter member of the National Cattleman's Association, West Virginia Cattlemen's Association, National Rifle Association and past director of Pendleton County Bank.

On June 14, 1960, he married Jane Fisher Wilkins, who survives.

Also surviving are three children, James Dyer Wilkins, II, and wife, Cynthia S. Wilkins of Riverton, Ann Wilkins Daughtry of Auburn, PA, and John Andrew Wilkins and wife, Carmen Rexrode of Milam; two sisters, Jacqueline W. Upp of Cecilton, MD, and Dorothy W. Miller of Blacksburg, VA; one brother, Jack C. Wilkins of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren, Tyler Wilkins, Hannah Wilkins, Dorothy Daughtry, Jane Daughtry, Earl Daughtry, Arlan Daughtry, Jospeh Wilkins and Simon Wilkins.

He was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Fisher Wilkins, on Dec. 16, 2000.

A memorial service was held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at the Circleville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. William Cox officiating.

Charles "Buck" Bodkin, age 58 of Sugar Grove, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at his residence.

Mr. Bodkin was born Oct. 1, 1944, at Moyers and was a son of Faye (Rexrode) Bodkin of Sugar Grove and the late Raymond S. Bodkin.

He worked at Wampler Foods for 31 years until his illness in 1995. He was a member of the Crummett Run Church of the Brethren.

On August 27, 1965, he married Betty Jean Bodkin, who survives.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a son, James Allen Bodkin of Clover Hill, VA; three brothers, Raymond Bodkin, Jr., Dennis Bodkin and George Everette Bodkin, all of Sugar Grove; and a niece and a nephew.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. today, at the Crummett Run Church of the Brethren by the Rev. Jerry Smith.

Burial will follow in the Crummett Run Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Addam, Krystal and Vicky Botkin, Peggy and Carl Vandevander, Adrian Lambert, John Knicely, Ron Rhine, Charles Bill and Gerald Rexrode, Roy Bowers, Ralph Simmons, Hugh Shull and Bo McCoy.

The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, at the Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell, VA.

Benjamin J. Aulde, 78, of Manlius, NY, died Saturday.

Born in Oxford, PA, and raised in Franklin, he graduated from the University of Louisville.

He retired in 2001 as owner and operator of DB Associates in Fayetteville. He was also owner of The Computer Shop of Syracuse. He was a member of the Navy Point Yacht Club and the University of Louisville Navy V-12 Alumni Association. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

His wife, Marlene, died in September. A stepson, Donald Erle, died in 1996.

Surviving are three daughters, Susan Aulde of Chicago, IL, Mary Aulde of New Jersey, and Alison Nicodemo of New Mexico; two sons, Scott and Andrew, both of Florida; a stepdaughter, Debra Phelps of Chatham; a stepson, Brian Erle, of Philadelphia, PA; a sister, Mary Lou Sites of Franklin; and one niece and one nephew.

Memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA, 5878 E. Molloy Road, Mattydale, NY 13211.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Newell-Fay Funeral Home in Manlius, NY.

Dorothy (nee Wilfong) Straub of Crystal Lake, IL, formerly of NE Phila., died October 8, 2002.

She was the wife of Russell B.; mother of Russell (Cherle), Mark, Thomas, Nancy Wisesenmeyer (Scott), Andrew and Becky Straub (Savath); also survived by six grandchildren; daughter of Evan, formerly of Franklin, and the late Mary Wilfong and sister of Evan, Charles and Dennis Wilfong and Leslie Dillon.

Relatives and friends were invited to Funeral Mass Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Katherine of Siena Church, Phila.

Interment was at Sunset Memorial Park.

Rachel C. (nee Champ) Humes died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, in Maryland.

Mrs. Humes was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Sadie (Van Meter) Champ.

She was the dear wife of the late Stephen E. Humes, Sr., and loving mother of Deborah (nee Humes) Graybeal, Stephen E. Humes, Jr., and Kevin C. Humes; grandmother of Michelle (Martinez) Schueler, Danielle E. Martinez, Samira R. Humes and Angela M. Humes; and sister of Coy Champ of Upper Tract and Roxie Shirk of Franklin.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by Henry Champ, Robert Champ, Eston Champ, Lee Champ, Iva (Champ) Hartman, Kermit Champ, Lonzie Champ and Ottis Champ.

Fr. Ron Zoubeck conducted the funeral service at 2 p.m., October 12 at the Schimunek Funeral Home in Bel Air, MD. Interment ws int eh Gardens of Faith Cemetery.
